Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Great for relaxation I stayed in 5th floor suite. Room was very spacious and nice large bathroom. Had a bit of difficulty with internet connectivity, but not much trouble. Did not discover much in the surrounding area, but taxis are easily accessible. There is a nice patio in the 1st floor restaurant which has nice quiet pleasant view of ocean. Top floor swimming pool area was under construction and the gym is very small. 15 October 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Our stay at InterContinental Mumbai Our stay at the InterContinental was lack luster to say the least. We had stay at the ITC Maratha a few weeks earlier and it was a completely different experience. There we some things that I was disappointed by during our stay at the InterContinental: 1) Dining: The serving staff was cusping on rude while we ate dinner at the restaurant. They also confused us with a drink special and made both myself and my wife order double drinks on the happy hour special, which we were to understand that if one person buys a drink they would get another free. Not a huge deal but my wife is pregnant and so she doesn't drink anyways. We tried to reason with the server but he said that is the rules and that he explained it to us (which he clearly didn't explain to us). 2) Massage: My wife ordered a four hands massage while we were staying there. When the knock at our door came it was only one woman. I had made a joke asking where the other woman was because we ordered a "four hands massage" and I laughed saying she only had two. She proceeded to tell us she would start with the shoulders and work down to the feet. We honestly would not have got the massage but because my wife was feel a bit fatigued and with the pregnancy she felt having two massage technicians would be a special treat...well, we didn't get that unfortunately. 3) Wifi: We had continuous connectivity issues while we stayed at your hotel. Never mind that the internet fees were over $20 per day, the fact that we couldn't get connected during our visit was incredibly frustrating. While we were in Mumbai, we wanted to meet up with some of our friends, and the only way to do so was on a certain app on our phone. Due to the challenge connecting we missed our opportunity to meet them. I hope this feedback is helpful for you and your staff at this location. I am not sure we would stay at this location the next time we come to Mumbai. We may consider trying a InterContinental again at some point, but it would have to be an exceptional experience to win us over again. 11 October 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not Up to Par of Intercontinentals Wow is all I can say - and not in a good way. This was supposed to be a getaway during the Indian holiday time for me not to forget but it is one that I truly want to. First, the staff did not initially recognize my ambassador status - which was unfortunate because I wound up first in a smoking "upgraded" room and then moved to another upper floor room when I requested a non smoking room. That room and hallway reeked of paint thinner during my entire 4 day stay. I probably should have just moved at that point but I was too lazy. Second, I thought the reception staff showed a bit of a cold shoulder. It was not anywhere the level of service that I expected #it was a lady at the reception#. Third, what is going on with the complimentary video on demand list for Ambassadors? Those movies were ancient and appeared to be from the 80s. I didn't even bother... Fourth, the noise from the construction in the building was unbearable. But it was all over it seemed. I was told that there were renovations going on. Fifth, the pool was closed and from the reviews it appears it has been for a while. Isn't this a resort type hotel? People come here for the amenities.... and it was truly lacking. Lastly, the breakfast was pitiful. Not much of a selection although you can order off the a la carte menu but what a pain that was. On the good side, the concierge was very hospitable and showed many options to tour the city. And the check out was capped nicely when they provided me with a "welcome gift" at the end #this was supposed to be during the check in process but it was a nice gesture anyways#. The sea view #side# was nice although I would have loved a full sea view upgrade due to my status. I hope to be back some day but not until all these items are taken care of. I have stayed over 75-80 nights in IHG hotels this year and this was definitely one of those weekends that I would like to forget. 09 October 2014
