Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ants! Room was infested with ants. Was working through the night and had coffee from room service. While drinking, discovered ants crawling all over the tray and around the sugar. Didn't have the time to afford complaining and changing rooms, but shocked that simple measures for insects are not taken care of, specially in a desert country right on the beach. Was obviously not an isolated problem, as I saw another ant in the bathroom. 28 February 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay at a great location The Intercon in Muscat does not have the glitz of some of the other 5 star hotels in Muscat but it has the best location. It is also cheaper. It is overlooking the beach and is great for walking into town, along the beach or along the corniche. There is a shopping centre next door where there are food and coffee outlets so you are not restricted to the hotel. Mutrah souk and cornice and old Muscat are within an easy taxi ride away. There are extensive gardens going down to the beach with two good sized pool. Good choice of food outlets. We had a great seafood BBQ one night. Well recommended for a relaxing stay 26 February 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Charging and reliability of staff at reception Dear sires, I ask twice if I can use my voucher of Intercon for this 3rd night I staayed with you and staff agreed. Then I missed while paying to check the invoice where the 3rd night was charged although I got promised that the voucher will be ok for the 3rd night. Please check and correct the invoice with deposit on my credit card. Moreover I have to say that on estaff member who took care on my fax was very polite and helpful. But hte reason why he had to help me is that the equipment of the business centre is very poor and old. The fax can only send one page each!!! Moreover the Intercon club lounge was very nice and the people very friendly, The conference room was extremly helpful for us and I appreciated the extended time we could use it during my stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Hotel This Hotel is a little dated. Considering the standards for Intercontinental Hotels, this one needs a little refurbishment. But it is an overall decent hotel. There were a few issues which you don't expect to happen at this level of a hotel: drain of the shower would not open, so I had to take the cover off which was disgusting; vents didn't look like they've been cleaned in a while, shower curtain rod was completely rusted and the TV looked like it was the first LCD they ever made. Besides that the staff was helpful, and the big plus is that Trader Vics is attached to the hotel which offered good albeit pricing food. The club was a little weak with their offering and not very comfortable for the business traveler (Who I assume would be the primary user of the club). Decent not great. 16 February 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff We are journalists and have to work out of the room, in and out hotels on a notice and never know how long we will satay in the country. At Intercon Muscat they gave us a great room and made sure we did not have to move even though we are checking in and out every 3 to four days which is the maximum we are allowed by our media agency. The hotel gardens are great to disconnect from work and the city and the location is perfect to go anywhere in Muscat. 14 February 2014
