Nairobi

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 172 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic staff Stayed for three nights. Good location and everything you'd expect from InterContinental. The staff are fantastic - always smiling, friendly and helpful. Only downside was that the WiFi in my room was unusable but I understand that they are upgrading the system soon. 02 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good moment with quality services Was really good moment staying with you at Nairobi. Comfortable rooms and quality services with attention from the staff built a very impressive memories of the place. Maintain. 27 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent, comfortable stay This is a comfortable, friendly hotel, with staff that are ready to help you with any need. Food was excellent and varied. Location is centric yet on a relatively quiet street in downtown Nairobi. My only suggestion would be to keep wifi simple, no need to sign-in every hour. All in all, a highly recommended hotel. 26 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice way to finish a great holiday We stayed in this property 3 times in the month of Oct. Each room was different. The only problem we had was the AC in the room did not work. We like it cool to sleep at night but unfortunately this was not possible. The room we were allocated on the last day was poor however when advised the staff bent over backwards to try to help us out. We were assigned a different room and one with a sliding patio door so we were able to open it at night and had a super sleep! Beds were extremely comfortable and pizza from the restaurant is the best we have ever had ANYWHERE! The hotel is older and is a little tired in places but the staff were incredible and made the stay enjoyable. 25 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, outdated TV I stayed in one of the new, updated rooms. The room was of a decent size, it had good lighting, and it was very comfortable overall. Also the hotel has good restaurants and staff is very atteitve. One problem though is that the TV was very small and very old. For a stay of over a week this may be an issue. 20 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good stay overall but work on service I had a memorable stay overall at intercontinental Nairobi. The rooms are very nice clean and comfy for the business and leisure traveller and full marks for that. Ok the TV could do with some tech update but at least it works. The meals were excellent and the new dishes everyday ensured that even after a week in the hotel, one wasn't fed up with the food. Gym is small but decent and I didn't have time to try the pool. The bad experience was at the Makuti bar on Friday where the orders took for ever and were messed up. Nice touch though by the Manager in fixing this and comping us when we complained. 20 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highest quality of service... From my experience in travelling mostly around Africa, I would just say that this is one of the best stay ad service I have ever expereienced. Our was particularly touched by the professionalism of the staff ( almost all of them. Quality of food was excellent as well as sercive at the different restaurants. One litte thing, I would like to see corrected is the issues with the marble at the 4th floor, right by the lift. It seems to be not well fixed and needs some cares. Keep on doing the good job. Best regards. Franck Laurent ,. 20 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly courteous staff The first night our room was very noisy and the bathroom outdated. We asked to be moved and the staff were apologetic and changed our room without hesitation. The concierge was very knowledgeable and friendly as were all the staff. We would recommend this hotel to other travellers to Nairobi. 11 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by view and placement of the hotel very nice view to the city and very attractive environment around 08 November 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Too expensive for small rooms There was no hot water and the internet did not work for one hour. 03 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel shame about the food The hotel was just what we needed before the long flight back to London. Room was what was expected of a five star hotel however the plug socket for the kettle had to be changed after it blew whilst trying to boil water for a well earned cup of tea. When it came to dinning there was a choice of three restaurants/ eateries all serving from the same menu, I know that because I asked. Service in the restaurant was good but the food was not what I expected it would seem that what we ordered was an african take on a european dish! Yes I know we were in Kenya however if you advertise something on the menu and it turns out not to be what you expect then be prepared for some adverse comment. Swimming pool is situated between an outdoor bar and the main restaurant, not good if you want a private swim. Would I stay there again, yes but I would order a burger, looked more appetising. 29 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful staff and great atmosphere I stayed at the Intercontinental during an international conference that took me to Kenya for the first time. I was very pleased with my overall stay and with the exceptional hospitality and professionalist of the staff. I would definitely recommend the hotel again for its location, variety of food options and wonderful atmostphere. 29 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First Nairobi experience The hotel was welcoming, staff were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed my room, the lounge, the restaurants and even the hotel taxi guys were extremely helpful. Very enjoyable stay in the heart of the city. 14 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 great service and room During my two-day stay in the hotel I had really excellent experience. The good hospitality starts at the reception. The people at the reception are the types which make life easy. The service at the restaurant is the same. The bedroom is clean, big. bright along with its excellent internal facilities. When I write excellent repeatedly I am not being extravagant of the word but I am using it in its real sense. Finally I want to mention that when we left in the morning to the air port the hotel prepared for us packed breakfasts to take with us in the mini-bus so that we will not be late by the traffic jam. 06 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent! I have just had one of the best hotel experiences (if not the best) which I think is worth mentioning. Staying at the Nairobi Intercontinental was wonderful from every angle. The staff is the best staff I have ever encountered in a hotel... friendly, professional, knowledgeable. They make you want to stay longer. The service is impeccable. The rooms and the beds are spacious and comfortable. The food at the various outlets, delicious. I definitely recommend it! 30 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vacation What a wonderful place. The room was great and the staff treated us like Queens. Thank you. 28 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Opportunities to improve Why would you wish to offer (and charge for) wifi when you know it will not work in the room I was given? I had to request technical support (which of course was not effective), and then the duty manager to do something about this situation. He changed my room to one where wifi did work... and he seemed fully aware of the solution, suggesting he encountered this problem before. So, is this a saga of good response from the manager to solve a problem, or the sage of unfair handling in the first place, trying to give me less than what I paid for? We may have our different conclusions; but for the price, I can get alternatives in Nairobi that are less high-maintenance on me, and I do not think you wish me to consider the alternatives before booking the next time. 19 August 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mrs the bed was comfortable, the staff was great but the hotel needs a complete face lift up, i think it is too old and the carpets are just horrible. the executive floor is actually a joke. 14 August 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad serice asking a slipper but for 5hours nothing happdened. Terrible experience at all. 13 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Comfortable Stay, Yummy Indian food I stayed for 2 nights and my stay was quite comfortable. There was dedicated IHG Club check in counters--so check in and check out was quite fast. Rooms were spacious with good views. However the TV set looked like from the 70s and I request the hotel management to please upgrade the TV sets. Food was delicious at the Indian restaurant and I'd love to go back to this hotel just to have food again there. 06 August 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor follow up by the GM on a compliant I submitted. Although, the GM of the hotel did initially call to understand my compliant. He promised to return with a resolution within 1 week - he never did !! Poor after service ... I will not use this hotel again until the complaint is closed and neither will my team. We cant wait for the Kempinski to open up the road. I think it time to look at other loyalty brands. platinum Member 05 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service The Intercont staff in Nairobi are one of the most hospitable hotel staff I have met. It is such a lively hotel. 05 August 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by outdated room and furniture the staff was friendly, but the value for price and quality is low. the room smelled like cigarettes but fortunately we got a new one. it's a very old hotel that should be renovated (i refer here specifically to the rooms) 04 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by service par excellence Expected a five star experience and got just that plus more 02 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nairobi, 7.-17. July 2013 My overall experience of my stay was positive and the biggest contribution to this was the kindness of the staff, as well as efficiency of the check-in and check-out process I want to point out some areas where there is room for improvement: - First part of my stay was a conference type of event in the hotel. While quality of the food at lunch buffet was good I would have preferred some variation. 4 days in the row is a kind of boring. - Although my room was clean and tidy, it needs some refurbishment. The only way to have a look at the small and old-fashioned TV was sitting on the bed, from the couch you couldn't see it. Especially the bathroom/bathroom mountings displayed its age - I didn't expect that a hotel of this level did run out of Earl Grey tea over the weekend - Could I have expected that staff would know my preference for Earl Grey first thing at breakfast with a 10 days stay? - Ordering a cappuccino was a kind of a mission (timewise). At the lounge they had to get milk from somewhere which took (perceived) ages. While breakfast it seemed cappuccino was not available in the breakfast room but needed to get fetched from somewhere. The Burgers at the pool bar were excellent, and so was the food in the Indian restaurant (should have gone there more often). And I did love the whole wheat croissants at breakfast. 23 July 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and very friendly staff The beds at the IC Hotel are by far the most comfortable of all hotels I've ever visited. The staff is also very friendly and go the extra mile when called upon. I will definitely recommend the IC hotels to any traveller. 19 June 2013
