New Orleans

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 277 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First time guest Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and spacious. Everything was in good working order and the wifi connection was the best I've experienced in any hotel. Very nice and clean fitness center. Small but inviting pool area. The only negative thing about the room was the bed comfort. I've definitely had more comfortable hotel beds but it wasn't uncomfortable enough to rate it anything less than average. Location was the perfect distance between the French Quarter, Riverwalk and Superdome. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to family and friends. 25 December 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Guest Services, and Heavy Construction!!! Let me start with Check In. The person at the guest relations desk made me feel like I was an inconvenient interruption when I asked to check in. As a royal ambassador, I have generally checked in at the guest relation desk, but that now seems to upset the system, and was asked to move to the main desk. I presented my card and ID to check in, asked to move to other desk, and then asked for my card again? The room I received was not a suite, but a superior room on the club level. This is the smallest room that I have had in the last 5 or 6 years of staying at this hotel. The room across the hall from my room was having the tile removed while I was trying to sleep. Simply SHOCKING! Hammering loose the tiles at 8:00 AM after a long journey was the last straw for me at this location. How could it be considered a good to put a RA directly next to the rooms under construction? It feels like this was done purposefully, or simply the front desk manager did it without any consideration of my comfort All of the front office managers have turned over this year - 100%! So to sum it up, the check in service was dramatically worse than my typical experiences at this hotel. The only highlights were Sarah, the bell captain who helped me with my complicated baggage request. One piece of my luggage was delayed on the flight and she dealt with very well in a manner that won't wake me in the middle of the night. And, Anita who helped me at check out, she is always very nice and helpful. This used to be my favorite hotel in the chain. However, with the recent management transition, the hotel has lost a great deal of the charm that I had come accustom. This hotel was slowly sliding down with the age of the furnishings but made up the difference with recognizing guests and treating them like family. Now that part is largely gone too. With the warning of construction noise for the next 11 months, it is time for me to move on and try some of the other local properties again. 23 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent facility for business trip Excellent location, staff and room comfort/cleanliness; Convenient valet parking, great restaurant across street, and easy access to major streets and highways. 15 December 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Check Your Credit Card Bill ! Check your credit card bill closely for bogus mini bar charges. Charges don't show up until after check out and you get your monthly cc statement and by then you ignore it. This has happened to me at other Intercontinentals. Never at Holiday Inn or Crowne. 15 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the location and the hotel is beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we walked easily to the Dome. The hotel was beautiful. Beds are super comfortable. The only small complaints were the room had to strong of a perfumed smell and there were no garbage cans in the room. We thought that was a little strange. But overall, a very nice hotel! 12 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service and room! I recently was on a business trip to New Orleans and stayed at this property. Kudos to the employees including the desk staff, valet and housekeeping. Everyone, especially Kiera and Patricia (front desk employees) were very courteous and professional. My room was great and very quiet as I had requested. The staff always made a point to acknowledge you when entering and leaving the hotels. I would definitely stay at this location again for business and for pleasure! 09 December 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel for Bourbon Street area We didn't use the room much except to sleep. It was perfect walking distance to Bourbon Street and yet far enough from the loud noise of it. The overall comfort of the room was good, and it was nice. Valet was convenient and better than driving around looking for parking. It is about the same price as the public parking, so there isn't much difference. We wanted something a little more nicer and in better condition than the smaller local hotels, so the extra price we paid for it was worth it. The only downside was our refrigerator was broken. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel. It is also good for people with children to stay. 03 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Location! Clean rooms and great location. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The only real downside was that the hotel is under a remodel so it can be a bit noisy in the morning. But, such as life. I would definitely stay here again! 30 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best place to stay The faucet in the bathroom leaked and was flooding the bathroom. I reported it to the front desk and when I got to the room the workmen said someone reported the toilet was flooding and they didn't fix the problem. The cleaning people took every single towel in the room and did not replace them. The trash cans in the room were not emptied for two days. I requested a new room because of the constant flooding. I was placed in a cheaper room that had a terrible cleaning fluid odor that kept making me wheeze. The view out the window was directly into the room next door. This was not an experience that I'd like to repeat. 27 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice stay/Bad Valet The only thing negative I can say about my stay was the fact that the valet guys went through all of my personal belongings in my car. I had a set of keys in a white paper bag that was at the bottom of my center console. Well, my wife used the car during the day and this white bag was on the passengers seat when they brought her the car. This bag of keys was under a lot of junk my center console, so there is no way it could have ended up on the seat without someone digging through everything. My wife did not know that it was in the car so she thought it might have been the valets. She dropped it off with them when she returned and told me about it. I was able to get the keys back from the valet guys that were there at the time, but when I asked them if they had any idea how they had ended up on the passenger seat, they said they did not know. I am not aware if anything was taken. I do not believe anything was, but we did have two other people staying in the hotel from the same wedding party have several items stolen. Both were electronic items. I know this is pretty typical from valets everywhere, but I thought I would let you know that it is a problem there. 26 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tough condition during remodeling Too much dirt and noise during the renovation I do not recommend anyone stay there during this period 24 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Halloween in New Orleans Halloween is a great time to be in NOLA, everyone is wearing great costumes and partying up a storm. So when you want a little peace and quiet, the Hotel Intercontinental is just off of the French Quarter. The only problem is having a room next to the Trolly track, so ask for a room that does not face St. Charles St. They are just starting a complete renovation, which is needed. Still the hotel is quite nice and the Club is very nice. 24 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good night stay no coffee Coffee maker did not work in room. Internet did not work in room either. 18 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Night cashier, Ms. D. D. Arrived early for check-in; left bags with the concierge; received a call within 30-45 minutes that our room was ready. Room was very comfortable/clean and as described/requested. Requested to stay an additional night; 30-45 minutes later a confirming call was received for the additional night. Room-key and bath towel mishaps were over-shadowed by late night cashier D. D. - she was most accomodating, answering questions before I asked them - offering to assist with checkout upon my 4:00 AM return from Bourbon Street. Ah, the Club InterContinental experience offeredwas paramount in making the IHG stay a memorable event. 16 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location Good location, friendly staff. Quiet, comfortable room. Would stay here again. 15 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jackhammers at dawn Well, it wasn't really dawn, but whoever decided to crank up a jackhammer at 8:30 on a Saturday morning must be truly sadistic. We were very pleased when we checked in on Friday. The staff were all quite friendly and efficient. They just failed to mention that there would be construction going on during our stay. So, we had a really good time in the French Quarter, with every intention of sleeping it off on Saturday morning. Imagine our horror when we were wakened by the staccato rattle of a jackhammer. The failure to inform guests that this was going to happen is an entirely inexcusable lapse in judgement on the part of hotel management. 13 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Drilling in the morning In New Orleans, you want to sleep in on the weekend. But we were awakened at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings by core drilling which shook the building. No notice. No apologies. No effort to compensate. Besides that this is a dingy hotel not worthy of the Intercontinental name. And the staff is at best indifferent and at worse sullen. 13 November 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stay This hotel needs updating. Many of the areas have been neglected for some time. Someone made the decision to jack hammer the elevator shafts on Saturday and Sunday. Whoever made that decision should not be allowed to make any more decisions. Doing that early and all day on a weekend was a very poor decision. 13 November 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not up to standard. This hotel needs refurbishment. The decor was dated. The staff were ok but not comparable to the excellent service of the intercontinental in Singapore and San Francisco. The club lounge door lock was not working and quite often was not accessible if no one was inside to let you in. The concierge was knowledgable and efficient in making bookings for us. 12 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Beautiful, Comfortable Place to Stay I enjoyed my overnight stay at the Intercontinental Hotel. My room was beautiful and my bed was extremely comfy. I ate in two of the hotel restaurants, and also enjoyed dinner at a catered event. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The staff were all very friendly, and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others. 11 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stay at ICH We had a great time and the staff was unbelievable and very helpful, the room was wonderful with a gorgeous balcony, and the king bed was perfect. 11 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Times in NoLa We were booked there for the Douget/Jordan Wedding Event I must say our stay with this hotel was very memorable. Staff was great from the moment we drove into the valet parking area. Bar Staff member Astrid was especially attentive and helpful to all our needs. A true asset to the location. Location of the hotel was great and everything we did was within walking distance. Thank you 06 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay This was my first time In New Orleans and this was a very good location, and staff was excellent. I booked a club level room and the lounge was nice with good food. The only negative was my window was on somebody else's balcony and not very much sunlight. 05 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel near French Quarter We stayed 5 nights in late October 2013 and loved the Intercontinental! The hotel has a classic look in its lobby, hallways, and rooms. The staff were wonderful -- my favorite was Arnold (saw him several times serving at our conference, always with a smile and very helpful attitude). Many comforts in the rooms, enjoyed the free WiFi. Could have had a heated pool, but the workout room and rooftop area were lovely and relaxing. It's an easy walk to the heart of the French Quarter. May want an upper floor room to avoid the noise of the streetcar. Highly recommended hotel! 03 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great room Spent weekend here, staff was good, beautiful hotel and very nice room. Only wish balcony room had better view. 02 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely disappointed I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past, and have enjoyed everything about the hotel. After this last stay I can't see ever staying here again. My check Inn experience was horrible and set the tone for the entire weekend. In fact I was told by someone one the staff that they were under new management which is why I probably notice the difference. UNBELIEVABLE 31 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 4 day stay in October 2013 Attended a conference of about 300 people. Extraordinary food service, especially a server named Janet. But all were extremely attentive and seemed genuinely glad to serve us. 30 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All Around Great..... The check in process was quick and easy even though we got there at a busy time. Hotel was clean. All the employees we met were very nice. 30 October 2013
