Excellent Situation

We arrived to friendly and knowledgable staff, our room overlooked Broadway, 30 stories up, we had little road noise, but magnificent views. The showers were massive, and the beds were very comfortable, with temperature control to our room, we could decide on how warm we wanted to be.
We seemed central to all locations, from the shopping district , Central Park and the Empire State all being an easy walk. The mixture of deli's and restaurants meant you always had a large choice of where to eat.
We enjoyed our stay very much.

small problems added up

First off, this hotel is located in a great location. Right next door to a shake shack, and right next to the A,C,E subway entrance, you cannot beat that on a cold winter day in NYC. I booked a deluxe room, and they upgraded my room to a sky view room which was very nice. I don't have any complaints about the staff or the actual rooms themselves, all were pretty good. The problem is that a lot of little things added up that made this stay just average. Here are the list of little things,
1) While checking in at the front desk i was given a choice between 1000 bonus points or 30 dollars in mini-bar credit. I chose mini-bar credit, but when I got into my room, the spire ambassador welcome letter stated that i can choose between 1,000 bonus points or 20 dollars. I had to call the front desk to confirm it is indeed 30 dollars.
2) with the confirmed 30 dollars in mini-bar credit, we were excited to raid the mini-bar. But the mini-bar door wont open.......had to call the operator again, and they had to send an engineer to the room to fix the mini-bar refrigerator door.
3) coming back from an early morning run, my room key stopped working for the elevator. Had to go to the front desk to get the room key re-assigned.
4) second night, i could not sign onto wifi for more than 30 minutes. Finally decided to call the operator again. She had to transfer me to a technician. The technician had to reset something, didnt say what, but wifi worked after that.
5) third day coming back room keys stopped working again. had to go to the front desk to get the room key re-assigned again.
6) upon checking out, they forget to credit me the mini-bar.............inexcusable really. They also did not credit me the free Ambassador weekend night. It was a good thing the person checking me out was the same person checking me in. So he remembered that he had taken my certificate upon check-in. He apologized which was good. Remember to ALWAYS, check your bill on check-out. .

Overall these little things added up to just an average experience. Despite all of these little things, I think i would actually go back because of its great location, and very comfortable rooms.

Unfortunately the service was below my expectation. 1 restaurant/bar in a NYC Times Square hotel. I was disappointed with that. My room was not really an upgrade and as an Ambassador with Intercontinental Hotels I did not get anything extra or the usual treatment I get in other Intercon Properties.

Very satisfied - consistently good. Great central location within easy walking distance to the theater area and most importantly my meetings. For the middle of NY you can enjoy a great nights sleep. No problems over travel to the airport as there are always a great number of limos available with easy going drivers.

Wrong or Bad Professionalism!!!

My family stayed at Interontinental for 4 days in two rooms connected...
Last day when we left from hotel, we called Front Desk and asked for Bellboy to help carrying the luggages....
And we gave $5 for the tip and when the private taxi came to hotel, the Door-man and taxi drivers loaded the luggages...

I was going to give the tips but I realized I did not have any changes with me so I did not tip them...
And so sudden two of doorman open the taxi door and saying "Thank you for staying at lntercontinental and hope to see you again soon" loudly...
For four days of staying at hotel , we did not need any help from door man or any other staffs but these door man were busy to talk to their friends and other people... They never said "Good morning or being nice to people...

It was the last day of staying in New York and we had such a good time and these two man screwed up everything....

My understanding the door men are the first people we meet when we check in the any hotels..
Depense on how they treat the customers, customers will have veries of impression on that hotel..

Anyway, I don't think I will never stay at Intercontinental in New York again...

Great Stay with a Broadway Show

Our stay was amazing. The Front Desk associate was very accommodating and gave us a high floor room. Being a platinum guest, I loved the impeccable service. Bellman was available.
Had two cosmopolitans and they were just perfect. Kudos to the bartenders. In the morning we had the breakfast buffet. The selection was just perfect very suiting to the location and diversify of NYC.
