Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great location other then that just normal hotel I liked the fact that the hotel is in a good location. Apart from that its just another hotel with no feelings. I have visited other inter continental hotels and the staffs were so lively and always smiling. In this hotel, no one welcomed you and no one smiles. There is no life in this hotel. And i dont feel at home. So my next business trip i may pass this hotel. 30 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, room with a view, comfortable bed. I really enjoyed my stay in NYC. The staff made it great. Pauline in guest service made my fiance's birthday really special. She made sure there was a bottle of Champagne, two glasses, chocolate dipped strawberries, a small cake with happy birthday written on a plate in chocolate when we got there. The concierge was very helpful with information in regard to plays we were interested in. we had seen Motown the Musical the night before and wanted to see a second show but didn't have tickets. So we asked the concierge and he mentioned Kinky Boots. we went and bought ticket at the box office that night, it was a very good show, we loved it. The door men (all of them) had excellent advice when it came food/dinner, bar/pub//drinks before a show, or even subway directions. I love this hotel. I want to return.. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. You all made it great! 29 October 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great location but thats where it ends. Three star at best , don't be in a hurry for anything especially breakfast . Leave it for a business trip and take your coffee in your room , not recommended for a holiday or special occasion . 29 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Right next to Times Square and Port Authority Terminal This hotel is right next to Times Square and Port Authority Terminal. Due to the location, this place is always packed with customers. Though, I was treated very well as an Ambassador member. I even got Halloween edition chocolates with IC NYC name on it, this was very very cute, and my wife was moved :) I'll definitely visit this place again when I sleep at the city. From the front door to the bedroom, the staff provides exemplary warmth, hospitality and efficiency. It is not unusual to encounter the general manager meeting and greeting guests and insuring that each person is recognized and attention given to insure their stay is memorable. I always look forward to staying here and have made this hotel a regular part of my New York business and leisure life. 28 October 2014

I must have stayed at a different hotel vs some of the other reviewers of this hotel... because I believe this was not a good InterContinental (IC). I am a Gold IHG rewards member and also part of the ICH Ambassador Program. Some positives: Location is good for mid-town all that has to offer. Good for first visits to NYC but to be avoided if you want to experience real NYC. Times Square area really is just an advertising billboard. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Negatives: Didnt recognise my IHG status and didn’t give upgrade of room as part of Ambassador program. Made excuse that I booked to late.... despite the fact that I had a booking for a few weeks and then cancelled and rebooked within 1min the previous day for the same room type. Also, I called the hotel to explain the day before and was told my status would be honored re the upgrade. Turns out from talking to other program members that this hotel does not ever give the Ambassador upgrades. I would have stayed elsewhere had I known. Room was average. Bathroom small. TV in strange location in the room. View was of Hudson river. Room could have done with some re-fresh. Walls scuffed, carpet stained. Felt 1980s in decor. Common areas similar. The photos on the website are photoshopped I think! lol Found the staff rude at check-out. Never asked about my stay...and they didnt provide me with my bill at check out. Told me printer was broken but would send via email. They didn’t send via email. I had to make a call from Ireland when I got home to sort. The also offered 5000 IHG rewards points for the issue with the Ambassador status. Never applied the points. Never returned my calls or emails on this. Lobby was always really busy and sometimes not enough staff to cope. Really not impressed with this IC Hotel. Generally IC hotels are great. This is just a hotel in name. My advice, stay elsewhere as this is by no-way a 5star and no way a proper IC hotel. 28 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Birthday Celebration Ever My husband, daughter and I returned for the fourth year in a row to the Intercontinental to celebrate our daughter's birthday in NYC. Our daughter has special needs (Down Syndrome# and loves going to NY and seeing a Broadway show for her birthday in October. Last year David Posadas, Assistant Front Desk Manager, learned about her birthday celebration and made our visit extra special. When we visited again in May to celebrate our 3oth anniversary he did the same offering us his e-mail address to contact him before we arrived for our next visit. I did e-mail David about our planned visit this past weekend and he went above and beyond even though he was not on duty on the day we arrived. We were treated to an upgrade to a beautiful room on the 35th floor and a birthday cake and sweet treats two nights in a row! The Front Desk staff were wonderful as were the bellhops #especially Elvis). Our daughter who is outgoing and friendly was consistently greeted by staff in a welcoming manner. We are from the Philadelphia suburbs and the location is a very easy drive. For many years we stayed on Broadway but much prefer this location. Only a few short blocks away it seems so much more accessible by car, an easy on and off from the Lincoln tunnel. It also seems a little less hectic than Broadway and makes for a more relaxing visit. Yet , we were well within walking distance of all theaters and great restaurants. We had pre-theater appetizers and drinks at the communal table in the lobby restaurant. The appetizers were very good and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this hotel and will forever be loyal customers. 27 October 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by try another hotel after checking into our room, my son went to take a shower and when he went to get his towel after the shower, there were someone clothes left behind the towels. Went to front desk and told them about this, and was not able to get another room!! It took 2 phone calls to get another luggage rack. After traveling across the East Coast for a few weeks, I have to say that this was the only room where I did not feel that it was cleaned. If you looked behind the doors you could see that it was never cleaned, I had dropped some papers next to the desk and you could see that it was not cleaned for some time. would not stay here next time we come into New York. I just felt that this hotel room needed a very good clean job. The staff was very friendly, but that is where is ends. 27 October 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Superb staff and exciting location I felt that this Intercontinental Hotel lived up admirably to it's name. It's in the immediate vicinity of Times Sq. and the Theater District, and is convenient to subways, restaurants, etc, etc. It is not necessarily a quiet and relaxed area of the city, so if that's your objective, you'll want to find a different area. But the Hotel itself is wonderful, with excellent views on most floors, and quite a good restaurant in the lobby. All of the staff were friendly, informed and a pleasure to deal with. Hats off to Charles, who made our day on a number of occasions, and was the most delightful and helpful bellman I've encountered in a long time! 26 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great hotel !! We stayed here for my sisters 50th birthday for 5 nights. well it was fantastic!!!!! what a great hotel. The staff are friendly , helpful and knowledgeable. At check in we got a room upgrade to a room with fantastic view and the beds are the best i have ever slept in ... comfort just pure comfort!!!!! relaxing night sleep!!!! For my sisters birthday we even got a bottle of bubbly and cake sent to the room , complimentary of course , what a fantastic touch and very kind . the only things i would fault are: they charge to bring up a ice bucket $6 for room service and in room food/drinks too expensive. However the downstairs bar is great! thank you all for a lovely stay x 25 October 2014

Valet and bell staff friendly and helpful - always there with a smile and information. Head Concierge recognized us from our last visit 20 months ago, and identified us as being from Toronto. Impressive. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in NYC. 24 October 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't do it As soon as we checked in we knew we had not chosen well. The unhelpful check in person insisted we had booked two double beds ( rather than a king ) and also told us that our Ambassador Club upgrade was not available despite it being a guaranteed club benefit. We were told that we could move to a better room on day two of our six night stay, and it was arranged that we would return to the hotel by 5.00pm to make the changeover as we had both luggage and valuables in our room safe to be moved. We were therefore shocked when we arrived back at the hotel ( well before the agreed time ) to find our luggage and contents of our room safe had been moved. Adding further to the situation was that nobody was quite sure of where the safe contents ( passports and a large sum of cash ) were. The Ambassador Club assistant rang lost and found, to no avail, and even took us back to our old room ( now occupied by another couple ) and had us check the safe. By this stage we were livid. It was day two of our stay we were totally gutted. As it was I was getting around New York on a crutch and the thought of trying to deal with this mess was just too much. The good news was that our items were finally located, apparently in a manager's office. The bad news was that we couldn't get them until the following day as the manager had gone home. The saga just kept getting worse. I would not go back to this hotel. The only efficient person we encountered was an excellent concierge, but he alone is not enough to save the unprofessional and downright questionable actions of the staff employed by this hotel. 24 October 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hurry up and leave I have stayed at this property on several prior occasions and have been quite happy with the service. However, on my most recent stay I got the distinct feeling that they wanted to rush me out. As a Royal Ambassador member I took advantage of the 4:00 PM checkout time. This was clearly communicated and acknowledged by the check-in staff. On the day of my departure I received a call at around 1:00 pm from the housekeeper asking if I would be checking out. While the conversation was phrased as a question it was more of a statement that I should have been out of the room at noon - the standard check-out time. I reminded the housekeeper that I would be checking out at 4:00 pm. Then, at precisely 4:03 pm, as I was preparing to leave the room, I got a second call from housekeeper asking if I'd be leaving soon. Not quite sure what's happening with this property and I'm sure the treatment I received is not consistent with the IHG values for loyal guests. Regardless, my mother always taught me to never stay where you're not welcome. It will be some time before I return to this property. 23 October 2014

I also has very good cosmopolitan there once but this time it was an utter disaster. Maybe the bartender was too young. The first version was ok and the second was even worse. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by service The valets and doormen made all the difference to me. They were so helpful to us and did everything they could for us. They even weighed my luggage before I left to make sure I was not overweight at the airport. I have never had that done for me. The mattress was wonderful! 15 October 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Maintenance problems Initially, a corner room was given, since the price payed by me was for a better room on higher floor. During the reservation, they have promised a corner room. When we went with the key to the room, there was already guest staying in the same room. Again it was changed to another side room, not corner. Right from the time of arrival, there was noise coming from the A/C grill. When I called, someone responded to me by sending a technician to fix. Again after his fixing the noise was there. During night it was annoying, I called again since I could not sleep. The manager came and fixed. It was clam for a while and the same later. Unfortunately no sleep until morning, we checked out early before 8 AM. 14 October 2014
