Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KUDOS TO CHRISTOL IN GUEST SERVICES!!!! Christol WAS the highlight of my experience at the hotel! Upon check-in, there were some issues with my reservation. I found the front desk staff to be RUDE, POOR COMMUNICATORS, NOT HELPFUL, NOT FRIENDLY, SARCASTIC, and VERY APATHETIC. They would not even look up at you and acknowledge your presence, let alone even remotely try to solve your issues or answer your questions. I was TOTALLY DISGUSTED with them. I was so taken aback by the TERRIBLE customer service that I was going to leave and go elsewhere. However, I saw the guest services desk and decided to stop there. Christol was sitting there. She looked very professional, greeted me with a smile, and LISTENED ATTENTIVELY (with eye contact) to all of my concerns. Christol was very diligent about bringing about resolutions and taking care of me! She is DEFINITELY a ray of sunshine in the midst of the storm of total chaos at that hotel. She is absolutely an indispensable asset for Intercontinental, and she is an EXCELLENT bridge between the hotel and the customer! THANK YOU CHRISTOL for doing your job and doing your part to make my New York visit comfortable and memorable! You were the highlight of my stay, and I WAS SO IMPRESSED with your work performance! We had to have different rooms than first mentioned and they were very accomadating to meet our needs and wishes. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone. 20 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel, good location, room for improvement The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and effective. The location is right off Times Square, which is nice for a tourist who wants to be close by. It is also a central location where you can walk to almost anywhere in the city... almost. Two problems I found: - My room was on the 6th floor facing the street, which was noisy. The sound of cars and trucks was noticeable and can bother a light sleeper. - Also I didn't like having hidden charges at check-out. They charged $5 handling fees when I receive a package by mail. I was not informed of this at check-in or reservations. Also I think this should be part of the service of a hotel at that level. It's not a budget hotel. Overall, I liked the hotel, but would probably stay somewhere else next time I'm in NY. I can probably get something as good for a better price or something better for the same price. I'm an IHG member, but didn't get any special recognition for that (other than the points). 20 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We travel A LOT and this was a standout When you book an upscale brand hotel you expect something more. The Intercontinental NYC delivered. We booked two rooms (connecting) 1 King and two doubles. Great view, Great decor, beautiful bathroom and the location is GREAT. Far enough from the insanity of Times Sq but close enough for a theatre binge. Oh and BIRDLAND is right DIRECTLY across the street!! (If you're in NYC on a Monday, you MUST got to Jim Caruso's Cast Party. The best variety show in town! Back to the hotel, the staff was outstanding as well. As is my usual habit, I ask the doormen for breakfast recommendations. They nailed it. The WESTWAY DINER just around the corner is a no-frills, NYC neighbourhood spot. We LOVED our stay!! 19 August 2014

The staff have made some funny mistakes (repeatedly giving me the key to a room that someone else was staying in), but the overall experience has been positive. It is a good place to stay in Times Square if that location is convenient for you. 18 August 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel, staff needs more training I have had numerous enjoyable stays at this hotel, and would recommend it. I did find on this trip that the front desk staff seemed distracted upon check-in. And when I tried to extend my stay by one night, the person on duty clearly did not know how to do that in your system. After keeping me waiting while she "experimented" on the computer, she ended up making an entirely new reservation (with new signature, card swipe, etc.) and then seemed unclear on how to "attach" the new reservation to the existing room. All was well in the end, but it's just not the kind of service I'd expect at an otherwise first-rate property. Room was great. 17 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Stay Located close to all theaters and shopping. The room was clean, with a really great view. The shower was so fantastic, I would like to redo my bathroom again. Michael who brought up our luggage noticed we were having a problem getting our granddaughter's WIFI up and running. He helped her for two seconds and it was up. Michael who was on the front desk area was very helpful also, above and beyond. All staff members we came in contact with were great. I can't say enough about this hotel, would diffently stay here. Would recommend to anyone coming into New York. 14 August 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the Intercontinental quality you'd expect Hotel bedsheet was torn (any competent housekeeping person should not have put on a bed) and duvet had a satin. A small stain - but noticeable and totally unacceptable. One EXPECTS clean and tidy linens. Front desk polite but SLOW. Not horrible but not a great stay - not the memorable NYC experience one would hope from this property. I'd remove a star just in general from this Hotel. 14 August 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could have been Great Hotel Location is great. Subway station is just outside the hotel. Room is nice, big enough and relaxing. But a bit noisy if you are in front of 8 ave. The mini bar is full so you cannot use it for personal use. Limited TV channels in case you’re tired of walking the whole day. Concierge was helpful in providing information. But BEWARE of the WIFI when logging in. I am an Ambassador member and expected free wifi but was careless in logging in. The log in page was not intuitive enough and does not show you all options. It cost me an additional $5 "premium internet" unlike other hotels where all options are clearly displayed on the page. I tried to explain upon checkout but all the front desk said was it is in the system and she can’t do anything about it. That’s it. Luckily I just stayed for 1 night only. No Fresh fruit upon arrival. No In-room water. No In-room gift. When I tried to get a taxi to go to the airport, bellman insists that I take the black SUV parked outside the hotel which he said would cost the same. But I declined. 14 August 2014

Despite of advance booking and IHG member, very badly located and cramped room was given. Hotel does not have much facilities. 14 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good stay in convenient location I usually stay at the Holiday Inn at Herald Square, but decided to upgrade slightly and be closer to Times Square. I was very happy with InterContinental. Would definitely stay again. Restaurant was way overpriced - cup of coffee to go for $5.00 plus tip? fortunately, lots of options. 13 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sky suite room We stayed in the Sky View Suite, which was an upgrade from the Sky View room. The room had windows on three sides and offered a wonderful view of the city from several angles. I picked this room so that my wife and daughters would have a nice experience of luxury. The room was clean, the bed was fantastic. The only problem is that we had arranged to have the couch bed pulled out and set up at 9:00pm, while we were at a Yankees game, and when we got back to the room at 11:00pm it had not been done. The staff was very apologetic and had someone set up the bed immediately, so it was taken care of in a timely manner. I would recommend this property if you are trying to have a little bit of luxury, and still be two blocks from the Times Square vibe. 13 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Stay with One Flaw We were very impressed with this hotel: very clean, relatively quiet, quick check-in, helpful staff on the floor, good doormen, baggage valets, etc. Walking distance to many important points in the city. Overall, highly recommended. The only place they came up short was in the atrocious service of the lounge waitresses. On the first night of our stay, I stopped in the lounge, newspaper in hand, and sat in plain view of the two waitresses standing at the cocktail station. A moment to relax and have a drink while allowing my wife to get ready for dinner and the theater. And I waited...and waited...and made eye contact with a waitress...and waited while they chatted away about what they did last night...and waited... After being completely ignored for 10-12 minutes, I finally walked over to the bar and ordered the drink myself. Whatever. Maybe they weren't on the clock yet and don't have the sense to realize that standing in the lounge and chatting while ignoring patrons isn't acceptable in a fine hotel. Two nights later, I tried again. Newspaper, wife getting ready, eye contact with the waitress at the server's stand, this time poking away at her cell. Waiting...waiting...waiting...seriously? So I go get my drink again. This time she comes by and, with attitude, asks if she can get me anything else, as if I offended her by getting my own drink. Easily the rudest service we received during our stay in New York. All the more shocking because everyone else that I encountered in the hotel was so friendly and helpful. 12 August 2014

Contras: El servicio del personal no esta a la altura de un hotel Intercontinental. Como cliente Ambassador no te reconocen ni ofrecen los upgrades, tampoco ayudan para un late check-out y no atienden tus necesidades. Las otras cadenas de IHG de la zona son mucho mejores en este rubro. 12 August 2014

Hotel was overbooked when we reached for check in and they went the extra mile by upgrading our room the following night. The comfort in the room was great and is ideally located for almost all activities: shopping, restaurants, sight seeing etc.. Would definitely recommend the hotel. 12 August 2014

If we want to find something not so good its again the front desk. Someone must speak to them. They are not happy with their jobs and are most of the time not so polite. I can understand the pressure but on the other hand its not good to ask them call every time Maria to be serviced properly... 11 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No tenían conocimiento de mi resevacion Cuando llegue a el hotel , en la reservación , me dijeron que no me tenían como huésped en sus resevaciones, le enseñe mi número y me buscaron y entonces me dieron entrada a mi reserva, cavé mencionar que reserve con más de dos semanas de anticipación a mi llegada al hotel de times square en New York, no me dieron la bienvenida de un ambassador member , y me negaron el up grade hasta después de tres días me lo otorgaron. Después de estos días, el resto de la estancia estuvo bien. 11 August 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Staff are not friendly I stayed in this hotel for 2 days. I felt the staff were not friendly. I felt that the front desk staff some rude. I never see the smile of the staff for two days. First day. I stayed deluxe room although Royal Ambassador member because I reserved reward night. The deluxe room is very small but room is clean and bed is comfortable. After 2 days I was transferred to another hotel nearby. It was very opposed to the InterContinental Times Square hotel because the hotel staff are all friendly. 11 August 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive and pleasant hotel The hotel is attractive and staff are pleasant. The bed, linens, and pillows are very nice. Most of the towels were plush but then some very worn out ones were included each day. The rooms are small but comfortable with nice views. The bathrooms are lovely and one of the best features of room. The atmosphere is lively with many international visitors. The restaurant is good and service is attentive. Unfortunately at night the lounge area was very crowded with no place for hotel guests to sit. Generally we enjoy staying at this upscale hotel. The only thing that seems to be lacking is that once you are in the lobby - it's difficult to find help. Although there are staff standing around at most don't make that extra effort that could make the stay memorable.. 08 August 2014
