I came to hotel to celebrate 2nd wedding anniversary. Once I met Mr. Dexter (Reception), he managed to send a special amenities to the room as courtesy from hotel. My wife was amazed and thankful of the service provided. In addition, I wanted to delay the check out and Mr. Iftekhar (Guest Relation) has extended my check out time.

This is our third time to stay in Intercontinental Riyadh and its always a marvelous family getaway. Amenities like bowling lanes and golf course are a special treat that is very rare in the hotels even in international level.
The hotel staff are so accommodating and friendly.
Buffet breakfast is so good.

Whenever I make it to Riyadh this is my place to stay. Friendly staff and really tasty lounge snacks. The shoe polishing service is very unique and something special. Hope to be back soon.

Hotel was in very good shape with the exception of the golf course. Was either under construction or water obstacles were drained due to shortages in the late summer early fall. Rooms were very comfortable and aside from the usual restrictions placed on women in Riyadh, this was a very nice experience.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Paul1968uk Comfortable hotel, but dull.
The hotel is very comfortable, but to be honest, it was dull - not entirely the hotel's fault as I spent a lot of time waiting for customers, so couldn't leave the hotel for more than a week, but the gym facilities weren't as good as my local gym, so that didn't interest me much.
On the plus side, the rooms were very comfortable - it took a few days to get the aircon just right, but I loved the blackout blinds. It should have been the most comfortable sleep I've ever had, but it wasn't, but I can't criticise the hotel for that - the rooms are incredibly comfortable and quite.
Part of the problem is a cultural one - something the hotel can't do much about, but without a bar, the hotel seems quite and guests don't have an opportunity to mix they would anywhere else in the world - this is something the hotel needs to address and provide more simple social interaction with other guests - gym and swimming pool is fine, but it doesn't relieve the boredom. In the evening, the hotel is like a ghost town - there is no-one to talk to and it is too far from civilisation to get and out walk to somewhere interesting.
The big problem was the food - the lunchtime/evening and breakfast buffet fell well short of what I would expect given the cost of the hotel. When the evening buffet had lamb chops that were bland and unappetising, guess what was on the breakfast buffet the next morning? You guessed it... lamb chops!
The buffets were dire - I couldn't wait to leave and get a decent meal.
To be fair, the hotel does have a nice 'alternative' restaurant, but the menu was limited. At these prices, I would expect for example, an upscale restaurant to serve fillet steak, but it doesn't. The tempura prawns were however, very nice and I would recommend them.
I just got bored with buffet meals - the whole experience felt like Groundhog day.
The one day I could get out and see Riyadh, two different members of staff assured me that the shops would be open and recommended which shopping malls to visit. Having then arranged taxis, you guessed it - nothing was open. I wouldn't mind, but the hotel staff should know this stuff - they live and work in Riyadh and are there to advise me. So, I wasted a few precious hours and a fair chunk of money on a wild goose chase - because of a lack of knowledge of the hotel staff. :(
The hotel would benefit from more leisure activities - something as simple as a couple of table tennis tables would be perfect - something to keep people occupied between jobs. The leisure facilities include tennis courts and squash courts, but not everyone is up to that - table tennis is cheap and anyone can have a go - it would have been a perfect opportunity to use up some time.
The 9 hole golf course is very good, if a little basic, but even if you are a poor player like me, you will enjoy it - just wear a hat - it gets hot out there!
In short - perfect hotel for 2/3 day business stay. Anything longer, and you lose the will to live.
