We loved the location of the De La Ville Roma right at the top of the Spanish Steps. We had a delightful dinner on the rooftop…one of our best in Rome. The entire staff was very helpful and accessible from the beginning of our stay until the end. I would definitely stay there again.

This IC hotel is nicely location near shopping and tourism sights. The hotel is at an old building, but well maintained and very clean. Good rooms with comfortable beds, small bathrooms, but go you to Rome to be outside not to go and rest at a hotel. Breakfast is very good, ample selection and good service. The hotel has a panoramic floor for drinks and dinner, its a wonderful ambiance and cannot think of a nicer place to end a visit to Rome. Overall, a nice hotel and well worth it price.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pieswin Great location but not up to normal IC standards
This place has one of the best locations in Rome. Despite it's relatively expensive rates it let's itself down by lapses in service standards. Some examples:
We arrived on Sat evening, received a message, but despite telling Concierge and Front Desk staff twice daily it wasn't until Tues night that red light on both room phones was turned off.
Concierge seemed disinterested not overly friendly
Room cleaning left 2 used glasses on table after servicing room
Turn down occurred on first night but not next two, last night ok after mentioning to Front Desk staff.
Good friendly service in Lobby Bar and Doorman
These may sound minor but not acceptable in such an establishment

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mazz13 Bad communication and expensive hotel
We were pretty disappointed with this 5 star hotel. We found the room to be cramped (and we were upgraded due to my gold ambassador status) so I would've hated to see the original room. I used the online help 3 days before arriving to confirm our hotel accommodation and ask for directions from Rome Termini as the email confirmation sent to me had the wrong dates (was a day short). The online help couldn't help me so directed me to send an email directly to the hotel and the hotel took 3 and a half days to respond. Needless to say we had already checked in 6 hours prior to receiving the email and they hadn't even responded to the question re: directions from the Train. Quite unhelpful for 5 star. Don't think I will renew my gold ambassador membership.
One positive is the location is fantastic - right at the top of the Spanish steps and close to the Metro.

This hotel is perfectly located in Rome. The quality of service and amenities were great, yet not too upscale. We would recommend this to all of our friends and stay here again when we return!

Very helpful and responsive by all means. And very patient. Both my wife and I have enjoyed the stay and will return
- pillows are too loose
- breakfast buffet is too expensive for guests (like us) who eat light

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by AzBob Aged Hotel Needs to Enter the 21st Century
The major plus of the InterContinental de la Ville is its location, right at the top of the Spanish Steps. Of course that quickly becomes a negative as you have to climb those steps each time you return. The hotel charges $30 USD for daily internet but it provides only 1mb of speed and generally you get logged out before you can get on a site! Today, everyone has a laptop, tablet or smartphone and quality high speed WiFi is a necessity like towels and pillows. A purported 5 ***** hotel has to provide that service. Additionally, the concierge act like they are doing you a favor when you ask for help. I can't tell you how many times during our 4 day stay I was directed to find things for myself rather than have the concierge help me with it. Plus, everyone grubbed for tips. Roof service waiters quickly mentioned that the hotel does not give them tips added to the bill and requested cash tips instead! All in all, the hotel was a very poor experience and, if and until the de la Ville enters the 21st century I'd suggest finding some other place to hang your hat in Roma.

I stay at a lot of IHG properties. This is a smaller, different type of hotel from their typical ones. I found this hotel to be extremely relaxing and carrying the same traditions/accommodations of the larger hotels.
The concierge staff was wonderful and very accommodating. We did a lot of preplanning and they always responded to my emails in a timely matter. We were always greeted by staff members.
If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay in a busy city, this place is for you.

a perfect stay, all the staff are perfect
Even we had our previous stay in this hotel in 2008 we were welcomed as frequent guests. From the Bellboys at arrival to the check out after 4 nights everything was perfect.
It was a great experience how all the staff took care about us.
Our next stay in this great hotel will be of sure soon.
Congratulation to the team !

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Arisaig 128 Small and very hot rooms but excellent staff
The location of this hotel is what makes it. The hotel bedrooms are very small and the bathrooms tiny but it's a very old building in the centre of the City. We had booked interconnecting rooms yet one of our bookings has been cancelled before we arrived without being informed. The staff and concierge were excellent though at sorting this out for is. There was no air conditioning available and the room temperature was 29 degrees on 2 days. We mentioned this to the front desk and were advised that the heating was off but it was not the season for the airconditioning to be on!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NY Mets Poor Wifi and Amenities
The location of this hotel is great. The service from the check in and doorman was very good. The concierge is excellent and took the time to help book excursions and suggested a restaurant that ended up being my favorite restaurant of the trip.
I understand that this is a historic city and older building so you can't expect the same level of rooms and amenities as a more modern hotel offers but they can use a renovation to bring the rooms more up to date.
The real problem is the wifi service they offer. Now I wish I did not need to access wifi while on vacation but unfortunately I still need to stay "connected" while away with my office. Since in Rome there are very few hotspots because most require a Italian cell phone to access the hotspot I was dependent on the hotel wifi. After trying to upload a small document to my corporate server for a day and failing because the internet speed is on par if not worse than dial up from the early 90s I had to buy an Italian sim card for my ipad to upload a document.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Steven66 Pricey i.r.t. overall experience
The De La Ville Roma offers lots of old-world atmosphere in the spectacular setting of a quarter of Rome on one of its hills from where you have a beautiful view over the city and the further away Vatican. From the hotel, only the upper two floors will offer you that view though and those, of course, are the most expensive ones. We had reserved a more upper package/room with a terrace and King-size bed on the 7th, but at check-in decided to accept a lesser room on the 6th with balcony but with twin beds which we preferred (no twin option available on the 7th). The view from the balcony of that room over the city was certainly special, but it would probably have been quite a bit better from the 7th even. Whilst I cannot compare with the room I thought we had reserved originally (didn't check that out), I felt the room we got was less than I expected for the price we (pre)paid.
On the second floor, the hotel offers a patio terrace, which is nice but offers no city views, obviously. We did not use the restaurant facilities other than for breakfast - the latter can be rated good, but not spectacular - the decor however is). Other than the convenience of the location of the hotel and the atmosphere supported by the decor as well as the 5-star feeling (which you do get), I don't see any particular reason why I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel based on our experience. Some of the things I would consider, are:
- fairly small bedroom - bathroom OK with marble and everything, but you have to shower in the bathtub with a shower curtain, which may have been acceptable 20 years ago but so-so for a 5-star hotel in the year 2014, even in an older building/hotel in a city like Rome;
- at night, the room was too warm to our liking even while we slept with the balcony doors fully opened; the airco was not operational at the time of our visit (early April) - we did get a fan the next day when complaining about the airco, but that gives you a lot of noise and wind as well;
- other than the airport pick-up (the 'limousine service' comprised a C-class Merc) and breakfast included in our package nothing else was included: no courtesy bottle of water, no WiFi internet (not cheap, which upon purchase wasn't very fast either) and that kind of thing always irritates me - those little things should be standard and if it's not it doesn't make you feel welcome or well-treated whereas you paid quite a sum already;
- did not get any special recognition or treatment despite holding an IHG Ambassador Gold status.
On the positive side, really good beds as one should expect, a clean and quiet hotel, slightly posh I would say. Top-location in Rome. Top concierge (without asking my name he knew who we were and without having been asked he had made a reservation for us at the restaurant he had recommended).
Overall, not a bad hotel and not a bad experience: old-world luxury and perhaps romantic if you're looking for that, but not the greatest of experiences either and overpriced for what we got by my standards. And I do realise this is a top-location in the city of Rome (of all cities...).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DanaElizaBee Lost in Rome - in a good way
My stay at the InterContinental de la ville Roma was the perfect way to get lost in Rome for a few days.
Lost as in feeling like you have stepped out of your life and into the Roman lifestyle. The location could not have been better. Shopping, restaurants, and all the key Rome attractions are within walking distance. Step out the door and step onto the Spanish Steps. Take the elevator up to the Terrace for one of the the most beautiful views of the Rome skyline!!!
The rooms are luxurious and spotless!!The staff is courteous and attentive to your every need. I could not have been more pleased. I will rave about this experience for some time to come.
Thank you!! InterContinental de la ville Roma.

Well who needs free internet or a continental breakfast? When you leave your hotel the entire city of Rome is literally footsteps away.
We thought our hotel was perfect for our two nights stayin Rome. We were able to get to the metro or take a bus everywhere we needed to go as the stops were a stones throw away. The concierge even suggested a taxi at times but if you are able to walk dont bother to cab it as you will certainly miss "La Passeggiata"!!! Walking home every night was amazing. See the city and feel safe and content with the LOCATION!
