Insider Tips

Don't call it Frisco!

San Francisco is a great diverse city, with its people from all parts of the world. We're friendly and enjoy showing off our city, don't hesitate to ask anyone for directions!
As splendid as when it opened in 1926, Mark Hopkins is one of the city’s finest historic San Francisco luxury hotels. It’s ideally located at the crossing of three cable car lines, just minutes from Union Square. Each suite is furnished in a unique, stately style. Breathtaking views of San Francisco combine with fine dining and a signature 100 Martini menu at Top of the Mark restaurant. Described when it opened as ‘architecturally perfect’, this San Francisco luxury hotel remains so today.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 510 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most Excellent When I first arrived at the hotel I asked for a room on a high floor to be away from the noise. After being in airports for 24 hours I was exhausted. The front desk agent stated there would be an extended wait but assured me I would be satisfied with the room that had been preassigned. He was correct. The 6th floor room was amazing and quiet. I was on vacation and after returning from all day excursions, the staff were always very friendly and helpful. It was a most excellent hotel. November 19, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Hotel Hotel Check In was easy enough; staff were responsive to my requests and the remodeled lobby/bar area is fresh and bright. November 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers and else. They did a great job refurbishing it and the overall experience was great. Some of the best views you can enjoy in SF, great location and helpful staff. November 17, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Over-rated! Over-rated hotel. Promises great views from the most expensive rooms but limited by filthy windows and poor sound insulation. Aged bathrooms and towels. Recommended restaurants near the hotel are generally of poor quality. Great fresh pizzas in the main restaurant though and all staff in the hotel were friendly. Disappointingly long wait at check-in (25 mins) despite only a couple of people in the queue... Needs to take a look at it's sister hotel InterContinental which has a better approach to its customers. November 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location A reliable hotel not too far from the restaurants and tourist attractions November 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and value This was my second stay here and I can say it's far better than some of the other holiday inns in San Francisco. Great value and safe convenient location. November 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by resteraunt service The food was great. Unfortunately, the service was not. We ate in the restaurant 4 times and the service was poor at best. If you have nothing else to do you will eventually get a good quality meal but the average from seating to eating was 45 minutes for us. November 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Concierge Service Ryan from Concierge was outstanding . Went beyond the call of duty to assist my husband and I. My husband fell ill and Ryan was extremely helpful. November 16, 2014
