"Pura Vida"
This is Costa Rica's most common greeting and you'll hear people saying it from the moment you arrive in the country. Literally 'pure life', it means everything is fine.
Red - Orange taxis
There are two kinds of taxis. The ones from the airport are orange and very safe. Around the city we recommend you use the red ones with a yellow triangle because they are licensed by the government.
Tipping
You are welcome to tip taxi drivers, bellboys and waiters but it is not mandatory. You will be charged a 10 percent service tax for all restaurant and bar services.

Tropical Country
Costa Rica is a tropical country so remember to bring suntan lotion, insect repellent, light clothes and comfortable shoes.
Currency
You can exchange money at the hotel or at any bank in the city, but most places will accept US dollars.
Umbrella and coat
If you plan to go to the rainforest do not forget to bring these two items.
