Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Service, Food and Atmosphere Awesome The InterContinental Costa Rica at the Multiplaza Mall helped make our 2 week stay in San Jose more pleasurable. The breakfast buffet in the Market Restaurant has everything one could possibly want including an awesome energy drink, fresh of course. And the wait staff was exceptional; they knew our names, our seating preference and the service provided could not have been better. After hectic business days, we enjoyed the Spa which offers a variety of services to help one relax and unwind. The staff in the Club Lounge also provided exceptional service and made us feel very welcome; they knew our beverage preferences and did what they could to help us enjoy the Lounge. We ate at the Factory Restaurant twice; the grilled corvina was so good I couldn't resist ordering it both times. When we return to San Jose, the InterContinental will be our place to stay. 08 July 2014

Staff very pleasant. Valet most helpful in giving me information for complimentary taxi to and from Plaza. That was a great help. 22 June 2014

From the moment you walk into the beautiful lobby,and see all the restaurants and pools,you see why this hotel is a favorite with international travelers.The pools are great,the club lounge is nice to use(if you are staying in the tower)and the rooms are lovely too.The spa is great(I had a great massage the first time I stayed here last year)Housekeeping is great,with turndown service at night.All in all,a wonderful stay 21 June 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Self Park Nightmare The hotel has recently implemented an automated pay parking system. The problem is that when you enter you take a ticket but when you leave you have to visit the check in desk to have it validated. You need to do this EVERY time you leave the parking lot. If you do not do this you cannot leave the lot and have to repark your car and walk all the way to the hotel. Wait in line for one of the check in clerks and then go back out to the parking lot to exit. Guest who self park should be able to use their room key to exit the lot or the ticket that they receive when they park should be programmed at check in to be valid for their entire stay. I gave only three stars for sleep quality because even though we were in a Jr. Suite it was situated beside the freight elevator. Why would you put a Jr. Suite next to a freight elevator? We also waited over 30 minutes for the bellman to pick up our luggage when we were checking out. The hotel property is gorgeous and the rooms are very comfortable. 16 June 2014

Service in main restaurant, slow and not knowligable. Hotel shop not open at time indicated on entry door and when open personal very unfriendly. ignored request for ice and in room bar repaire. Could not get second box of tissues. 16 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always the center of attention We've stayed here on multiple occasions over the past few years and it's always been consistent - even when they were building the new wing and spa. Like most, this is the very heart of San Jose and an oasis during our travels. The staff has always been great and service fantastic. Food is terrific as well - I suggest the ravioli at Alfredo's! On this last visit, it was packed due to a concert nearby (didn't know Paul McCartney drew such a crowd). Despite the very lively folks milling around, service was excellent. I was even surprised that the though it's been two years, the staff remembered me! I spend an awful lot of time in hotels - sometimes 6-9 months at a location. This has always been my 'Home' in San Jose and a place where my wife is always safe and comfortable. The location cannot be beat either - with the new highway in, it's our first and last stop before heading to the coast. 08 May 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Being bumped out of the club section on a return visit. Small room with 3 people. Could not accommodate 2 queens with roll away after 2 month advance booking. Dirty dishes in halls. What exactly is the point of buying up to Ambassador status?? Even called the Customer hotline for more lame excuses. 27 April 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality of Accomodation We arrived in Costa Rca via air at 6:30 AM. Expecting to only leave our bags with a bell boy and then be on our own until normal PM check in time we were given access to rooms which was very accomodating to weary travelers. Thank you for your hospitality, it was our best hotel stay for our eight days in Costa Rica. Staff was friendly, accomodating, and went out of thier way to meet and answer every request. 10 April 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very good service but horrible bed Overall experience was very good...attentive staff, nice room and good food. The main thing that bothered us was the bed. The pillow mattress on top of the mattress was crooked and hot. Don't know if it was wrapped in plastic. Definitely unacceptable. The other thing that was bothersome was how long they took to serve us at the Market restaurant. It took forever during lunch and dinner. (Breakfast was fast because it was a buffet). 10 April 2014

Disgusting experience for such a hotel The other one is that I was told as ambassador level I will get additional appreciation in my room... I did not experienced any nor saw any.. 24 March 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel Nice hotel recently renovated. I travel to this hotel quite often for business. I truly believe that hotels are mostly made by the people that work on them. And this is not exception. Adalberlo the reservations manager was extremely helpful during my recent stay . He really listen to the client looking into their eyes. In one of short conversations during an stay I mention to him that the next week iI was coming back and staying for two weeks. Surprise when I came back I had a bigger room ( he consider that in 2 weeks you can become crazy in a smaller room) Simple he listen to the client Great job. 08 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience except in the ALFREDO TRATTORIA ITALIANA The hotel is really nice. It was beautifully decorated and very clean. The spa is great and the pricing for everything is reasonable. The staff at the hotel was very gracious for the most part. I think the landscaping could be a lot better especially on the back of the property where you can see cell phone towers and utility lines. Tall trees or a living wall back there would be great so you could just see the beautiful mountain tops and the sky. The pool area is quite nice but whomever sites the newer building did a disservice to the hotel because the pool only gets sun for 1/2 a day. Also, hotel workers should not be allowed to sleep at the pool. The rooms were awesome! My stay would have been better if housekeeping would have brought new washcloths everyday along with the towels. Also, the TV in the living room did not always work for some reason. We ate at the Market for most of our stay with no problems. The service was great and the food delicious. The Trattoria however was a huge disappointment. We waited 10 minutes to be seated while the manager did not acknowledge us and took his sweet time setting a table for another party of four. Once we were seated the manager ignored us. The server was not welcoming and the service was very slow. We witnessed a couple from another table get up and leave because of slow service. When we ordered the server was not accommodating. He said they could not do a side salad because it was not on the menu but we saw side salads being served to a large party on the patio. Why the kitchen could not make one more was confusing to me. When the caprese salad came the tomatoes were green and not ripe at all. The presentation was horrible. It looked like a fungus was growing on the plate. By this time we had had enough and we decided to leave after the manager made a bunch of excuses for the bad service and poor food quality. We went straight to The Market again where we had a good food and great service. One more thing. There should be more tours offered. We found that other hotels offered more extensive tours than the Intercontinental. I hope this helps. 28 February 2014

A delicious, varied breakfast on the terrace before, this time, relaxing by the pool before an onward transfer. The staff are very professional but equally friendly & knowledgeable, a wonderful hotel. Beds supremely comfortable & the room spotless. 21 February 2014

The food choices are incredible--we liked the Market for its festive appeal, space, light, and menu variety. The pool area is very nice but it would be better to have one pool as a swimming pool, in addition to the lounging pool. 17 February 2014
