San Juan

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 522 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service Great staff, in good part of city, Nice pool and beach area. I always stay at the Intercontinentle while in Puerto Rico for the reasons stated above. I ended up staying an extra day and the front desk were very helpful, Lynal at the front desk also helped me contact the rental car company. Great hotel. 24 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unexpected Pleasure We enjoyed our stay at Isla Verde's Intercontinental more than expected. The hotel itself is lovely with lush landscaping and beautiful pool and beach. The rooms are fresh and updated and very comfortable. I would suggest more hooks in bathroom to hang robes, towels etc. And I know it is only a french balcony with no furniture for the balcony, that is unfortunate. The bathrooms are very small, but I love that there is a bathtub in the bathroom and stayed at the hotel specifically because other hotels in area did not have bathtubs but only showers. Bathrooms could be freshened up at bit. The beach chairs are available at no cost but truly a hotel like Intercontinental should provide beach umbrellas at no cost as well. Ive never stayed at a resort where paying for an umbrella was required. Also the pool side bar needs more attentive service to both the out of water and in water sides of the bar. Poor and slow service. Some food was very good the fried appetizers not... too fried. The fresh fish was very good. Irene is a wonderful hotel manager, Nestor very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable concierge. Baron and Williams at the front door were exceptional and helpful. The front desk staff while friendly needs to be trained further in the area offerings such as restaurants and distances. The first night I was told that a restaurant was a ten minute walk and in fact it was nearly 40 minutes. I was not aware of the safety of the area and I have a bad back and foot. They need to be more attentive to details. Also please, there are wonderful area restaurants aside from the two always mentioned (Metropol and Platas). Please let people know about Mi Cassita, Atlantica, Ceviche House, and the Smoothie restaurants nearby or short taxi. All Excellent! Perhaps a list with names and locations of area restaurants could be provided at the front desk or concierge desk. The local bus to Old San Juan is excellent. The lasting impression of the Intercontinental was excellent and I would return and recommend to people I know. It is more tranquil than other hotels, which I prefer and everyone without exception was friendly and welcoming. Thank you 24 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Housekeeping fellow named "Hilton" Enjoyed the hotel and our stay very much but the housekeeping staff member made the stay unique with the animals he made from hand towels for room decoration. Different and fun. 23 July 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice The staff are great but the Hotel rooms are tired and not unto the InterContinental standards. 23 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT STAY AT INTERCONTINENTAL SAN JUAN Room was clean and quiet. Pooels and beach were very nice. Some of the best we've ever stayed at adn we travel a lot. Beautiful hotel. We have a 4 year old and were looking for total relaxation with just beach and pool and quiet nights and we got it! Only criticism is that the kids club Planet Tekker is not very good at all. Not kept up and you can see the hotel management puts very little effort into kids activities. Could/shouild be a lot better. Space is small and not a lot to do. This was disappointing and may change our mind about coming back next tme with our daughter.COME ON IHG, PUT MORE EFFORT INTO PLANET TREKKER OR KIDS ACTIVITIES! Food and drinks are over priced so you eat out a lot but you kind of expect thatin San Juan. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay. We would recommend this hotel. 23 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptional property! The entire staff at the Intercontinental Hotel San Juan are to be commended for their wonderful attentiveness! Each area of the hotel is exceptional...the lobby, the pool, the beach and the restaurants. The rooms are immaculate! The beds and bed linens are beyond comfortable! Wish I could take those home! But again, it is the staff that makes the stay at the Intercontinental outstanding. You won't regret it. 22 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel and location Open, airy and lots to offer. Downside: no ATM, but there are two across the street. No complimentary bottled water in room. Convenient refrigerator and coffee maker. 21 July 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Services are secreasing while the cost increases I have been going to the property in San Juan Puerto Rico for the past 10 years, sometimes twice a year and have noticed the steady decline in services while the cost increases. I paid for the ambassador gold membership which really doesn't mean anything other than getting an upgrade of the room which is probably the only perk. The membership provide you with a voucher for a free weekend night stay but they failed to tell you that you need to book your reservation online therefore the voucher is moot. This membership also is supposed to provide you with free water every day however I needed to call up every day for them to bring the water sometimes two and three times per day and I had to remind them of the so-called free amenity which was a fruit platter which also has declined in size over the past few years. The hotel is beautiful the grounds are well-maintained & the beach is great but the service has declined. I have made a lot of friends with the staff over the years but the pricing is forcing me not to return to that location and I won't be able to see my good friends who work there which is rather unfortunate. I will write to corporate regarding the same. 18 July 2014
