Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 722 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful pool The pool and hot tub were both very clean and clearly very well maintained. The towels were plentiful and the fruit infused water was a nice treat. You also never felt cramped when using these facilities or when getting a lounge chair pool-side. 26 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service Excellent food and attentive staff and very clean I have stayed at the Intercontinental for the past 6 years. We chose this hotel for our yearly girls getaway. This was our 5th year and we will continue to stay for years to come. The staff first and foremost from the minute we arrive is always smiling and I don't think I have ever had to open a door! The folks at the front entrance are always there to greet and hold door open. They always smile and make sure we are enjoying our stay. They always wish us a great day and ask if there is anything they can do to assist with plans for the day or answer any questions. I had an issue with my safe in room (my fault as I punched in wrong code) and security was there to assist within 5 minutes. I see many of the same faces each year at the outside beach bar who are always smiling and very attentive. They always make sure everything was to our liking. I want to also extend a sincere thank you #and I made sure I did in person) to the staff that keeps the bathrooms clean right off the beach. There was always someone cleaning and making sure soap and paper was filled. In fact all restrooms are very clean all the time. We have seen many changes to the hotel such as the addition of the fire pit at the outside bar off the lobby. We always enjoy having a drink or watching sporting event and ALWAYS meet wonderful people. The food inside the hotel and at the outside beach bar is fresh and always served with a smile. I travel often as do my friends I meet there. We feel like we are "home" when we go back each year. Everything is consistent and continues to improve. Thank You once again for another great experience! 25 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing Vacation Overall a very enjoyable experience. The room was spacious with a lovely view (oceanfront). However, the bathroom definitely needs an update. It was in poor condition and looked worn out. Poolside provided a very relaxing atmosphere. A few more umbrellas to provide shade would be appreciated. The hotels staff was very friendly and helpful. 24 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Pleasant stay No place is perfect but we were mostly very happy with our week long stay. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful; the restaurants/bar are wonderful; and the general atmosphere is laid back. 23 January 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not Bad I can recommend the Intercontinental San Juan with some reservations. 1. Location: Five minutes to airport but no airport noise. There are grocery/fast food/liquor options within five minutes walk. We bought some small bottles of wine, put them in the ice bucket and carried them to the beach (legal?). As for restaurants, you can head down the main avenue. 2. Beach: Right there. This was impressive. Not crowded, even on the Saturday. Helpful staff will get you beach chairs. The beach is sandy and mostly free of seaweed. It is a public beach but the hotel crowd has a sort of unofficial designated area. I felt my things were safe when I was out floating in the ocean. No hawkers annoying people. They also have a café on the beach with decent food and drinks. Prices aren’t too bad. 3. Breakfast: overpriced and nothing special but it’s nice when included in your room rate. Omelet station. Also they serve it till noon. Not crowded. 4. Transportation: The taxis charge fixed rates ($15 to airport; $21 to Old San Juan). 5. Room: They put us on the 14th floor (the highest) but with a city view, right by the elevators. Décor was ok. They provided shaving cream promptly, upon request. 6. Service: Hit or miss. Try to be friendly and engage them. The women at the front desk were not very friendly. 7. Facilities: Casino is small but not crowded on a Saturday night. Felt like I didn’t have to fight for a spot at the roulette table. The salsa dancing on Saturday night was great (all ages, nicely dressed) and also not too crowded. Live band. Locals present. Felt festive. 8. Upgrades: They talked a lot about how thankful they were I was a Platinum Elite IHG member but no upgrade to beach-facing room and no late check-out provided. Instead they told us we could use a hospitality room but after a thirty minute wait, that never materialized and instead let us change/shower in the spa building next to the beach. The front desk acted like they were doing us a huge favor. They kind of had an attitude. The spa staff was very nice, however, and told us to stay as long as we wanted. We showered and left – the whole ordeal could have been avoided if they just let us do a 2pm check out. That much, my “platinum status” should have gotten me. Oh well. 23 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by standard For three nights during a long weekend in January, I can recommend the Intercontinental San Juan with some reservations. 1. Location: Five minutes to airport but no airport noise. There are grocery/fast food/liquor options within 5 minutes walk. We bought some small bottles of wine, put them in the ice bucket and carried them to the beach (legal?). As for restaurants, you can head down the main avenue until you come to the Ceviche House (or for a more scenic stroll, you can walk down the beach which is parallel to the main avenue and then turn to the main avenue just before/after beach-cemetery). Ceviche House is pretty good food and mostly locals. All and all: I’d probably return to the Intercontinental if I plan another vacation to PR, especially at the price-point. 21 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice high end hotel @ reasonable rate Intercontinental is always a nice place to stay. Our business discuont with them makes it less expensive than other near-by hotels, plus being on the beach makes it so much better. 20 January 2015
