There is no obligation to tip in Australia
You are not obligated to tip in Australia. Australian's do believe in tipping when they have received good service though, so tip when you see fit.
Warm sunny days and cooler evenings
South East Queensland weather is a comfortable, sub-tropical climate. Temperatures average mid to high 20 degrees celsius all year round. When it rains on the Gold Coast, being sub-tropical any storm activity or grey skies tend to clear up quickly, and the sunny Gold Coast skies reappear.
Smoking is banned from restaurants, shopping centers, bars, clubs, public transport, taxis and entrances to public buildings. There are dedicated areas for smoking which are clearly signed. Fines apply to individuals who smoke outside of these designated areas.
DID YOU KNOW ?
The Pines- Arnold Palmer Signature Course
As Australia's only Arnold Palmer signature course, The Pines is revered as one of Australia's best and most challenging courses. Carved through 101 hectares of established pine forest, the course features corridor approaches to several holes, with lakes guarding others. Fourteen of the holes are contoured around six man-made lakes. With a course rating of 74 off the black tees and 72 off the blue tees the course offers a very special golfing experience.
The Resort's Architectual Design
InterContinental Sanctuary Cove resort's Great House is of a distinct Queenslander design. Queenslander designed homes can be identified by the 'tin and timber' look and raised living spaces allowing for ventilation below which is needed during the Summer and Spring months of the year. This design was first introduced in 1840's and has been a permanent design feature in the state of Queensland with local governments implementing conservation laws to keep the distinct look in the local suburbs.
To celebrate the opening of Sanctuary Cove, five days of celebrations were held over the second weekend in January in 1988. International acts Frank Sinatra and Whitney Houston headlined the two main concerts at the event which also saw performances from The Boy From Oz’s Peter Allen and legendary vocalist Julie Anthony amongst others. By day the entertainment line-up continued, showcasing the best of the Sanctuary Cove lifestyle with a full program of ultimate sporting events.

WHAT TO PACK
With our beautiful sub-tropical weather it is easy to enjoy relaxing by the beach lagoon pool, however, be sure to pack SPF 30+ sunscreen, light clothing, and a hat and sunglasses to ensure you save your skin from the Queensland sun. It is best to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day when the UV rays are the strongest.
Australian power sockets
Australia's power sockets require a flat two prong plug resembling an upside 'V'. It is advisable to bring an Australian socket adaptor, however, there are international adapaters available from the concierge desk.
