INSIDER TIPS

LOCAL CULTURE

Weather

During the same day you can experience different weather sensations. We kindly advise our guests to bring long sleeves shirts and an umbrella to avoid any surprise. Get prepared to face the four seasons of the year in a single day.

Taxis

You can easily find a taxi in São Paulo city. Officially they are all white cars. You should always keep some money with you because most taxis drivers do not take credit cards. It is highly recommended that you have your accurate route so that you can avoid any language misunderstanding due to the fact that most taxi drivers do not speak a second language.

São Paulo is a big city and driving requires a lot of patience. The public transportation can be useful if you are in a hurry and know that there is a subway station nearby. The subway green line Trianon-Masp is the nearest from InterContinental São Paulo.

Tipping

Brazilians are not used to tipping. Usually a proper tip for a good service would be 10% on your total restaurant amount. Many places do not add the tip on your bill. Nevertheless, if you had a good level of service, it is kind to pay for it.

São Paulo city hosts many attractions for all tastes and pockets. Get prepared for every kinds of events. As Paulista Avenue is located just one block away from the hotel, you will find the most different fashion styles strolling around this important avenue or just chatting over a cup of coffee.

DID YOU KNOW ?

Capital of Gastronomy

São Paulo is widely recognized as an international capital of gastronomy. The city holds incredible restaurants from all cultures and nations where you can enjoy some delectable dishes. Our concierge team, members of Les Clefs d'Or, will be very glad to help you choose the right spot to go to.

Native Indians

In São Paulo there are still three native Indian communities, with just over 1,000 individuals. Visits are accepted in some of them. Contact our concierge team for further information.

Japanese Community

São Paulo has the biggest Japanese community in the world outside Japan. The Japanese neighborhood is quite close to the hotel and it has an open air market on Sundays, very interesting to visit.

Drizzle land

São Paulo is known as the "Rainy City" because in the old days it used to rain every day at the same time. Nowadays, it has changed, but the nickname is still popular in famous national songs.

Weekend in São Paulo

Weekends and holidays are just perfect to visit São Paulo as many people go to the beach. Visitors can see and enjoy the bustling city peacefully. Moreover, as traffic flows better, taxis will not be expensive.

WHAT TO PACK

Clothes

Even during summer we recommend to pack a jacket and some long-sleeve shirts. The winter can be harsh, but you should also have a light jacket, in case the temperature becomes moderate and bring an umbrella. The weather in Sao Paulo is tropical and very unpredictable.

Shoes

To walk around the city, it would be better if you have light clothes, with comfortable shoes or trainers. If you are looking for some great experience in the city's restaurants some classical shoes are highly appreciated.

Umbrella

The weather in São Paulo is very unpredictable so we strongly advise you to take an umbrella always with you.
