Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location and view from bedroom Excellent location, easy walk to Botanical Gardens, quay and the Rocks and a great view from the comfortable, east-facing bedroom. Everything was spotless and good condition and the staff were pleasant. But otherwise, a rather conventional, not very modern hotel. I was surprised at the lack of separate spa and the sauna was hidden away in the changing rooms, which was probably convenient for privacy but for the pool/spa, and was not very hot. My room was not serviced until I requested it, about 3pm, which was astonishing. Staff gave no explanation though offered to send someone up to do it. I did not have a Do NOt Disturb sign on the door, either. I didn't think it a very solo traveller-friendly hotel either - seemed to be full of large, noisy families, with young children running around, especially at the pool. Not a very classy or relaxing experience overall, considering the price, but the location made up for it. 28 September 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another great Intercontinental experience This was my second visit. It was great to just stroll up Macquarie St after the opera. A night cap in The Cortile and then back to the room with a great view of theHarobur Bridge lit up for the night. Room service breakfast was a treat before heading back to the real world. The staff are great and the service attentive but not overwhelming. Look forward to my next visit. 24 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just Perfect We had a wonderful stay at the Intercontinental for our wedding anniversary. The staff were absolutely faultless and the service top class. We stayed in a deluxe club room with a late check out. The club room was a real treat with beautiful views of Sydney Harbour on the 32nd floor with drinks & canapés in a very relaxing atmosphere. We cant wait to return next year for our next anniversary. Thank You ! 24 September 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Harbour View Suite Sydney I had booked this weekend in Sydney with my family to celebrate my wife's birthday. Having stayed at the Intercontinental on a number of occasions it seemed like the best bet. I'll start with the disappointments, which was that our upgrade was not available. The suite we had reserved was good, although the sofa was clearly in need of replacing. And lastly, despite a couple of prior conversations, our account was in a bit of a mess when we left (which the staff efficiently and cordially amended). The good bits. Incredible panoramic view across the breadth of Sydney harbour. The breakfast at the Opera Cafe was excellent. And my wife particularly enjoyed the aperitif in the Cortile Bar. Lastly, the people at the Intercontinental are unfailingly professional, which keeps me coming back to the brand. Thanks! 22 September 2013

SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AND THE LITTLE THINGS TO MAKE A STAY BOTH COMFORTABLE AND MEMORABLE.CERTAINLY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. THANKYOU. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice place, and will stay again - but my credit card deposit hasn't cleared yet Room service was excellent, room was good - but what really grinds my gears is it has been a week and my credit card deposit still hasn't cleared(!!) I called the intercontinental front desk, and was advised it could take up to a week for the money to be returned. The room service was excellent, as was the hot chocolate in the cafe area. 21 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The only place to stay in Sydney Sydney is my town. And to choose to stay in a hotel in your own town means that your choice should be a good one to make your stay memorable. It was a special night and as always, I chose to stay in the Intercontinental. I was brought up in Sydney and two things are important...our harbour and our history. The Intercontinental combines both those things, not only with the magnificent views and closeness to the shore, but also the melding of an historical Sydney Treasury Building with the modern hotel. The rooms and public areas are wonderful, the staff polite, proacive and well informed, and a breakfast to die for. If you are from this country or from overseas, look no further than the Intercontinental. Big enough to be bold and exciting; small enough to care for you. I'll be back again and again. (Interestingly enough, this hotel was also the choice of One Direction and Angelina Jolie and family, but not sure if I should let THAT secret out!) 14 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding hotel in every sense This is one of Sydney's finest hotels - with brilliant views of the harbour, bridge and Opera House. Staff were outstanding. Can't fault anything .... the most comfortable bed ever! And we were still treated like royalty, even after Angelina and the kids arrived. 13 September 2013

IHG Rewards Club policy only recognized 2,000 points max despite how many nights you stayed at the hotel. I stayed for 26 days and only allowed to earn 2,000 pts toward my status with IHG. It takes 15,000 pts for 1 night free at Intercontinental hotel. 09 September 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Breathtaking View! When you open your room door and it feels like the Sydney Harbour Bridge is so close you could touch it, it is very thrilling! Had Room Service Breakfast so we could enjoy the view for longer. Was a very special two night stay! And the location to The Rocks area and Circular Quay is fantastic. Leave the car behind and just walk and enjoy! 09 September 2013

I would like to thank all the staff for their outstanding and professional service, in particular Ashley, Erin, Alicia and Tamjay from the Cortile who gave us excellent service as we dined there quite a lot during our stay as we found the food great and it was so relaxing dining there. I understand that as this was a rewards night I was not entitled to a upgrade or movie. I did not have mineral water, a fruit bowl or gift in the room which I am sure should have been offered to me. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed experience The negatives - 1) Had two rooms booked for the family ( pre-booked weeks in advance ) but two rooms allocated were not interconnecting ( as requested ) or even together . 2) One room good with harbour view - the second room smelt awful but was immediately changed ( still left a bad memory ) . 3) Old bathrooms badly needing renovation - no separate shower . 4) What's with the door key cards ? We had to change three times in 24 hours and we saw other clients with the same issue . System needs changing . Positives - 1) friendly youthful service 2) very comfortable beds and pillows 3) location excellent for Harbour and business district 21 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay Property is modern and well located near circular quay precinct. Only issue was no recognition as a Platinum IHG rewards member. We also had a small issue with the bathroom water overflowing when the bath was emptied due to the drain being partially blocked. Apart from this the room and service was of a high standard. Next time I would probably try a club lounge room, I would stay here again. 21 August 2013
