Sydney

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 735 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Hotel My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental Sydney. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very professional, helpful and courteous. Will definitely stay here on our next visit to Sydney. 17 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The awesome Australia Suite I would like to thank the Intercontinental Hotel Sydney for giving us the best weekend of my life. Upon arrival the lovely Tahlia upgraded us to the Australia Suite. The elation we felt when we opened up the door to this magnificent room will be hard to beat. We never left the hotel the whole time we were there, except to attend the concert that we travelled to Sydney for, as everything we needed was in the hotel for us. The staff were absolutely delightful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We were able to experience the Executive Club on the rooftop. I know we were so lucky to be given the opportunity to experience the Australia Suite and we will never forget it.Thank you so much Intercontinental we will definitely be back again and recommending your hotel to everyone!' 17 August 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good service , bad bathroom Beautiful room but very disappointing bathroom. Old fashion and very small, it resembles an old 3 star boutique hotel instead of a 5 star one. The bathtub was so small I could barely fit in it and the old cheap curtain didn't make it attractive either. The tiles weren't clean either. 12 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay and discover Sydney Comfortable rooms, great views, excellent food and awesome staff who are helpful friendly and greet you with a great smile Will continue to come back Darren 11 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay We had a weekend getaway, my husband and myself. It was a great, comfortable stay overlooking east harbour and botanical gardens. Easy accessible to Opera house and fine dinning restaurants around. Very welcoming staff and good service. Value for money and Yes delicious in house food too. 11 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family of 4 in Harbour view room The entire room (including bathroom) was spotlessly clean. 14th floor rooms view of the Bridge and ferry terminal was a joy to behold and the pool was a big hit with the kids. Very happy. 11 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location but needs work This is hotel is in a great location and about 25 yrs old. Rooms are a good size and well laid out. The beds are large but quite uncomfortable, both my wife and I had sore backs and necks each morning from our two night stay. Room pillows also offer little support, so use the pillow menu to get something more to your liking. The aerator on the bathroom sink was missing and was not noticed by the room staff. Towels were excellent. Breakfast both mornings was really very busy (Sun & Mon mornings). Food selection was very good although only very average bread ie nothing baked fresh by the hotel nor any sourdough. Dinner on Sun night was the Wagyu beef burger in the lobby bar @ $32 each but pretty tasteless, which was disappointing. 10 August 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Double dipping & tea @ breakfast On arrival staff took credit card details but were told we would be paying cash on departure. We settled our account in full with cash but on arriving home had a debit on our credit card, of value of our accommodation plus $100 per day. After two phone calls to Intercontinental the fee hasn't been credited. Intercontinental staff inform us it is the bank that is holding up the process. My question is why the credit card was debited in the first place when we had paid in full. If you require a second cup of tea or coffee please do not ask the staff at the tea & coffee station, they will insist you return to your table and wait for you to catch the eye of a staff member who will then take your order to the tea & coffee station. Obviously the barista staff are employed for their tea & coffee making skills and definitely not their customer service skills. Wonderful hotel with some great staff but two incidences left us less than happy. 10 August 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful experience Greeted by the very wonderful n warmth staff from the moment I stepout of my transport. Waited for a short while for chcheck-in as it's the peak hour I guess but fuss free. Tiara, who did the check-in for me was wonderful. Not only immediate provided me with water which helps greatly after my long journey. she also provided me with tips on where to go,what event is happening as n when she saw me passing by the front. Though No fruits in the room but theRes always apples at the front since I only need 1 a day n pick them up daily, I d not have to find supermarket to buy a whole pack n couldn't finish it. The pool is great n I used it everyday. Only thing is,I find the colorine is too strong. Well done team, the chocolate provided by the beside is a wonderful touch too. 06 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and comortable room. Very friendly and warm welcome at the reception. The room was spacious and very comfortable with lovely view of City. Location is ideal as The Rocks and Circular Quay, Botanic Gardens all within 10 minutes. The only criticism is that the breakfast buffet was lukewarm. Overall we would recommend this hotel. 05 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Wonderful 60th I had booked a harbour side suite for my husband's 60th birthday, the suite was warm and the views wonderful. From the moment we entered the hotel the staff were friendly and greeted us warmly. Check in was easy and again the receptionist was welcoming, we were shown up to our suite by a manager who showed us everything. Later my husband received a bottle of wine and chocolates which was a lovely gesture. Breakfast was also very good with a great variety for guests. The bed was really comfortable. The overall experience was wonderful. 04 August 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed feelings We arrived early in the morning and greated promptly by our transfer booked through the hotel. This was great however there was some confusion on the number of baby seats required. Luckily the driver had a spare child seat, even if this was not the correct size for our child. We were greeted by friendly staff at the hotel and the children were given a fluffy toy wombat. This was a nice welcome. One of our rooms was ready by 930am which we were very impressed with. After this our experience went downward. Our first breakfast in the morning was good although we had to demand to be seated inside after being told we could only sit outside due to the children and the pram. After standing our ground we finally were seated inside very easily. We could not understand the fuss and were bemused by the hostess demanding we sit outside. Another family directly behind us wanted to sit inside but were made sit outside, obviously not as strong willed as our party. I thought this was very poor service as as it was quite cold outside. The next breakfast experiences were pleasant with the staff remembering us and our drink orders, etc. In the evening we returned to cafe opera to an empty restuarant only to be turned away as they were fully booked. With children we have to dine relatively early and quickly and despite arriving at 6pm were told we needed to book. This is something that should be advised to customers when staying at the hotel. So we returned to our room and ordered room service. This started off well with my sons meal arriving quickly before the rest of the meals. However, when the rest of the meals were delivered one meal was missing, one meal was spilt on the ground so only one of three adults recieved their meal as ordered. After deciding to look at the comedic side to this experience we headed to the lobby which provided enough snacks, desserts and alcohol to help restore the night and reasonably good selection of scotch whisky helped make a mends.. The rooms were as expected although the bathrooms feel short of other hotels in Sydney. The bath was convienient for the children. great view from the pool. The steak and wine company was a fantastic restuarant and would highly recommend this to anybody in Sydney. 01 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good service, good location, great atmosphere, comfortable room The room is fantastic. Comfortable bedding and a well equipped room provide the cherry on the icing that is the great customer service of the Intercontinental Hotel Sydney. 31 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First Class Experience From the moment we were greeted from the taxi, we were made to feel welcome by the staff, especially at check-in where Estee's warm smile after a long day was very welcoming. The rooms are great, the staff and service are exceptional. I spend 100 nights away from home a year and this is my favorite hotel anywhere in the Asia Pacific region. 30 July 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Have stayed at the hotel on numerous occasions and this past one was quite disappointing. The room was as to be expected clean and spacious. The first night we ordered an antipasto platter from room service which was wrapped in cling wrap and had no taste. It was as if it had been kept from lunch in the fridge and served to us at dinner time. We then did not order room service again during our stay. We enjoyed our breakfast in the club lounge, however the barista needs a lesson in a 2013 flat white with the coffee disappointing. Also when visiting the club lounge we were made to feel a little uncomfortable by the staff. May book again however has opened my eyes to seeking alternative accommodation. 29 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Coffee and high service Great to try the new High Coffe service as a change from High Tea. Starting with Coffee Kahlua martinis it just got better and better with a huge range of sweet and savouries. The usual high standards of service from all staff from the car park up to the pool. Great views, great breakfast, great weekend. 29 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable stay Another good stay at this hotel. First time staying on a lower level.A litle bit noisey with Football fans in the hotel. Overall still very enjoyable. Fantastic service from inhouse reservations dealing with future bookings. This Hotel has one of the best views in Sydney (depending on room of course) Always look forward to heading back there. 28 July 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by An excellent experience A most comfortable, elegant and consistently special place to stay . This Hotel is indeed a worthy of it's spot as a landmark in one of the great cities in the world. Sydney must be and should be proud of The Intercontinental Sydney. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you. 23 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Experience Overall good experience. Good relaxation over the weekend from long week of traveling. I enjoy a good swim after long airplane rides and found the pool not very clean. 22 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellence at the Intercontinental Sydney I am a regular guest at the Intercontinental in Sydney, Australia. Words are inadequate, but I simply must acknowledge the high quality of comfort and service this hotel affords. From the Concerge, Reception staff, Porters, Housekeeping and others on the floor, the effort to make one feel welcome and looked after is superb. It is a fabulous hotel and beautifully positioned overlooking Sydney Harbour. The 31st floor Club Intercontinental is also a favourite haunt of mine. The service there is discreet and exceptionally good. I give this hotel the highest recommendation. It is my preferred accommodation when traveling to Sydney. 20 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location with great rooms We stayed at the hotel from the 10/7 to the 13/7 with our three children in an interconnecting room. The rooms where fantastic with great views. The staff where extremely helpful and accommodating to any requirement that we had (strollers, band-aids, etc that children seem to require!!). We ate at both Cafe Opera and the ground floor bar/restaurant and found the food to be excellent and well catered for children. If there was one point that we could fault it was that the pool was a bit to chilly and could have been a little warmer. Don't get me wrong though, it won't stop us from revisiting and we look forward to our next Intercontinental Experiance in Melbourne. 20 July 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Australia Suite ?? This was my second visit to the australia suite ($5,500 per night ???) and as per the first visit had a few issues. 1st, Foxtel did not work because of cloud cover, even though most of the time there was no clouds around to affect the satellite recieption. 2nd, no iron or iron board in the room. When asking for one, a gentlemen from housekeeping ??? seemed not to believe me and checked the room twice before providing me with one. 3rd, two ladies from housekeeping (this was around 10am) just walked into the room no knock on the door, nothing. Privacy ???. 4th, a part of the wall above the toilet just fell off while opening the door to the bathroom. 5th, variety of food and beverages in Club level has stayed the same, if not drop, over the last few years I have been visiting the hotel???. Overall for a $5,500 per night room I expected much more than I recieved. 19 July 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff Your staff is courteous and very helpful. The stay was very comfortable and enjoyed it over all.. 17 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, wonderful views I have just returned home from a 3 day stay at the Intercontinental with my sister who was celebrating a significant birthday. I would just like to express my gratitude to the hotel and every staff member we encountered. We had various friends call in and enjoyed meals/drinks in all areas of the hotel over the 3 days. Our room was lovely, the view magnificent and the whole experience was a delight. On hearing about my sister's birthday, we returned to our room to find a bottle of wine and chocolates. We were also given a complimentary late check out which was very much appreciated. 17 July 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All around, a great experience Staff was friendly and helpful. The concierge desk assisted us with directions, dinners and airport questions. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was yummy and I would not hesitate to stay at the Sydney Intercontinental again! 17 July 2013
