Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable stay with a great view I enjoyed a great view looking over marvelous Sydney Harbor. The hotel was great both in service and location. The buffet style breakfast at Cafe Opera was also great but the only thing is I wish I could have different daily menus. Overall, however, I just love it and will return soon! 20 March 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Service, Comfort, Location! From the moment I arrived my stay at the InterCon Sydney was Spectacular. I was greeted by the staff with smiles, service, a smooth check, and oh so comfortable & spacious suite! The décor was fresh, the linens were soft, the additional sitting areas in the room are fantastic, the internet was fast, and loved the amenities with just the little extras…it’s also a perfect location with incredible views! I really enjoyed the old historic building and how the new lobby area compliment each other. They have great unique meeting space and loved the fitness center and pool area on the top floor. I thought the club lounge overlooking Sydney Harbour was amazing and the food offered in the club looked delicious. The energy in the hotel was vibrant and it seemed as if the other guests throughout loved their stay as well. The breakfast was really outstanding and your host (Tomas??) stepped in and helped with serving our coffee while it was busy. Your room service team did a great job of getting an early breakfast delivered last Saturday. Your bellman were also top notch and so helpful. The location was perfect for getting to meetings, restaurants, sights, & recreating...with the Botanical Gardens just across the way. 19 March 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay & Comfortable Room This is one of the better Intercontinental's I've stayed at and I'd highly recommend it if you're needing accommodation in Sydney. The rooms were very well looked after, very modern, and extremely clean. The only negative comment I have would be that the bathroom was a little outdated, although it was still extremely clean, and functional! 19 March 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Five Star Everywhere We have stayed at the hotel several times since 7/2006 and the high standard maintained throughout the hotel has been consistent every time. We had some friends visiting from London late last year and when we took them to explore Sydney there was no doubt about where to stay.... Intercontinental of course. Large comfy rooms, premier restaurant that caters for gluten free better than any other 5 star hotel I've stayed with, great location and highly professional staff. Once inside it is easy to admire the well executed melding of older architecture with the modern touches. Clean room was accentuated by a grand view of the Sydney CBD. Location is ideal for access to Circular Quay and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants of Old Sydney. 16 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stay before the previous one Your hotel did not come up to our expectations from our last visit. We had sereral problems that reception are aware of. We had to wait an hour, in Cafe Opera, for a main course meal and when it arrived the meat was cold. A great disappointment, as the food itself and service was very good. The shaver point did not work in our bathroom and that had to be replaced. The toilet would not stop flushing and we had to use another room, for bathroom facilities, while the plummer said would take over an hour to be fixed. In addition the kettle in our room would not turn off. After reporting this they bought us up another one and that did not work at all. !! I phoned down again and they bought up the same one that did not turn itself off! So we received the same kettle back again....... By this time we were at the laughing stage. Your night manager, I think was Linda(?) and Billy will confirm this. They did try their best but we would rather have had things working properly. 13 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Update Rooms The hotel is in a great location; however the rooms are in bad need of an update. The noise level is a problem as I stayed on the 28th floor and could still hear the street noise. Educate the staff about the basics-channels in room- the person that took me up to my room didn't know that the hotel had international channels. In the club lounge, try to train the staff in a way to discreetly ask for guests room number; you may want to seek help from your Asian properties. The best staff in the club lounge were Alan and Orrizel ( I think her name is). They are outstanding and very professional. 12 March 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Staff make a hotel (or in this case they don't) The InterContinental in Sydney is in a great location with excellent views and decent sized and equipped rooms. The front desk staff are excellent. However, from there it was downhill for me. 1) I left an item in my room and checked out. After calling the hotel numerous times, following up with them in person when I stayed twice more, they were still unable to locate it. Yes, I carry insurance for when I lose something, however I did not lose it I left it in my room, and after providing detailed descriptions of the item and my movements, the hotel did not advise me that I hadn't. Sure I am an idiot for leaving it however it was not recovered by the staff that cleaned my room straight after I left nor was I offered any compensation. 2) I stayed three times over four weeks and after being prompted by the front desk staff to join the IHG rewards program on my first visit I finally signed the forms on my third. I then requested that the points, from my two previous visits, be retrospectively applied. However apparently they are unable to do this – fair enough if the stay is a year ago but we are talking a couple of weeks. How customer unfriendly is that? 3) I then request to be removed from the rewards program, see points 1) and 2) for the reasons, and then I start to receive emails offering me the ability to Earn and Redeem. And then I am asked to comment on my stay …. 12 March 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Third Time at the Hotel Had another good night at the IC, kids enjoyed the pool facilities and the gym is well equipped. Again nice location and a quality hotel. Not sure why when booking IHG rooms it restricts you to three bedrooms even when booking a room with two doubles in it....makes it very restrictive for people with more then one kid! 12 March 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very sad I am a Royal Ambassador member and very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. My royal ambassador membership was not recognized for the benefits i am entitled to. I did not receive a room upgrade on check in and when I enquired about it, I was told I could either have a room upgrade or admission to the executive lounge. The mini bar was not restocked the next day so I had to ask for it. I wanted to invite some work colleagues who had checked out from the hotel and had to wait for an airport transfer into the lounge and was willing to pay for it, which I have done in many lounges around the world and was told we could not do this. Also staff in the lounge did not know how to check out in the exec lounge which is where I always check out. All in all a very disappointing visit. 08 March 2014

The staff is outstanding and they look after every wish and need of their guests. The hotel is a classic, and the club lounge offers some of the most spectacular harbor views available. 08 March 2014

The staff from the time we arrived were so helpful and friendly towards us and as our flights got in early they arranged for our room to be ready and accommodated us with perfection. We would recommend anybody to stay here for its location, service and high standards. Made our trip to Sydney just so comfortable and so enjoyable . Thank you so much 07 March 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed Bag Unfortunately we had a tense check-in experience - even though I had already sent an email the day before explaining my wife's ill health and wishing to make sure we had a smooth check-in for our 30th and probably last anniversary together on the planet.. My wife, who has cancer, and I originally had planned to stay 4 nights but ended up only staying 2. The tension was not entirely the manager's fault as the situation arose out of misinformation from Priority Privilege. However, it took far more discussion (1/2 an hour's worth) than it should have to try to mollify the situation. Meanwhile my wife had to sit aside, in ill health. I expect a much higher level of customer concern and accommodation at 5 star hotels - even without being a Gold Elite and Ambassador Club member (which I am). The manager said he would contact Priority Privilege to help get to the bottom of the misunderstanding but he didn't do so. The room was fine - understated the way we like. The manager curiously told me that he had found us a room on the top floor (21st). However any trip on the elevator showed that there were some 10 floors of hotel accommodation above us. We didn't really care about this but it did give us that sort of uncomfortable feeling when we least wanted it. So, we liked the hotel. We liked the atmosphere. The bed was comfy, the view lovely however the air conditioner made a loudish hum and its fan strength control did not work. We were left disappointed and a little empty feeling by the overall experience. 07 March 2014

Very friendly and professional. Had a small problem with one of the fittings in the room, and one phone call had it rectified. We will definitely be back. My wife and I would also like everyone involved in providing us with an unexpected upgrade, which made our stay even more memorable. 23 February 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Best Hotel Experience Ever For Me For just one night on a great weekend away to Sydney, I splashed out and stayed at the Intercontinental. I am crashing into 60 and this was a real treat for me to stay in my first ever 5 star hotel. Won't happen again, so I made the most of every moment from enjoying the banter with the lovely concierge, the wonderful architecture, the sumptuous breakfast on Sunday morning, to sitting in my room, all agog, looking at million dollar views of the bridge, the harbour and The Opera House. I could seriously get used to this kind of experience more often but alas it will never be, so, thank you for the memories. :) 21 February 2014

They only lose points for the bathrooms but they are the era, with showers over baths, not a deal breaker tho! 21 February 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just not working out! I have stayed a few times now after being convinced by Priority Privilege to become a member from the other group I have been with for years. The Priority Privilege is a rort and I won't be renewing it. The upgrade option is a myth, I've asked 3 times and have all been declined. The booking 7 days in advance rule is ridiculous when you are a frequent business traveller changing plans all the time. I wanted to extend my stay 1 night last time too...sorry we are all booked out. Had to change hotels in the midst of a busy trip. Rooms are OK, bed is hard and uncomfortable and I always get rooms near the noisy lift foyer. Have 1 more certificate to use and then it's asta la vista Intercontinental! 21 February 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thanks for a great stay in Sydney I was travelling to Sydney for a conference and had a corporate booking, which I decided to extend on my own for a bit of a holiday with family. Found the meals and care for the conference I was there excellent, as well as the staff was very courteous to us and very helpful with local guidance and tips. We had an excellent and comfortable stay in a room with views to the Harbor bridge and would sure recommend this hotel to friends and return for further trips. 20 February 2014

All the staff are very polite and very knowledgeable. Very much value for money. Situated in Circular Quay - which is best spot to be, when in Sydney. Overall, a wonderful hotel. 20 February 2014
