As a Florida resident I am always trying t find new places to escape for a weekend. The Intercontinental Tampa is a perfect "staycation" spot if Tampa is on your list.
The staff at the InterContinental is just fabulous. Katheryne at the Front Desk is so nice and her service is always exceptional. On a recent arrival, our room was not quite ready at 10:00am. So about 30 minutes I received a personal phone call telling us our room was ready as we could begin to relax.
The rooms are nicely appointed and feature nice perks such as a make-up mirrow, mini-bar, wine glasses, plush beds, soft linens, and awesome pillows. You will be guaranteed a great night's sleep. One of the best hotel beds I have ever slept in. Always plenty of hot water and water pressure. I enjoy the fact that self parking is complimentary and there is no nightly service charge. It's all inclusive.
Dining at Shula's is a treat. Great food and portions. Service is always exceptional. We even were sat at Don Shula's favorite table and the menu is displayed on a football. If not is the mood for a complete dinner, the No Name Bar is awesome! Great sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. Must try the Prime Rib Sandwich and French Dip - Melt in your mouth goodness. Plus you can watch sports all over with multiple tvs with lots of games.
The rooftop pool is nice, but in the Florida heat, it can really be very hot. It is much more enjoyable in the evening or during the winter months.
When staying at the InterContinental Tampa, the location is prime. Within walking distance to lots of nice restaurants and shops. Be sure to stop by the Concierge and see Tiffany. She has lots of nice recommendations for dining around Tampa and some restaurants have free drink or appetizer. Plus she has area maps. She even printed out turn-by turn directions to a local destination.
All of this really makes the InterContinental a great place to stay. It may not have all the amenities of a large resort, but what they have is quality.
I will continue to stay at the InterContinental when my travel plans take me to Tampa.

The location is great for business on the west side of town and near the airport. Multiple great places to eat. You have to eat at Shula's, always excellent.
The only surprise was the size of the room. I am a Platinium member and was very happily told at check in my room was upgraded...what? It was one of the smallest rooms I ever stayed in, espcially after receiveing an "upgrade". It was just me and I managed. If my wife were with me, we would have asked for something better or left. Something was wrong as I had already reserved a king room anyway??

Price and comfort of a holiday inn express. Convenient for me and the lounge is In a good spot. Don't expect any memorable service moments in the lounge (consider yourself lucky if they service you in under 20 minutes)
Great location and free parking. I will go again for those reasons, but will keep the expectations low and avoid disappointment.

The room temperature even at night never dropped below 78 degrees with the thermostat set to 65. I like to sleep at 70 to 72 degrees and was unable to, this resulted in two poor nights rest.

The first night I slept there, there was a bug in my bed. Under my pillow a little brown one and I went to the front desk and they changed my sheets immediately and sent my chocolates that night to accommodate. It was very nice how they handled it, but on the 6th floor why was there a bug regardless? And in my bed! Ew!
I had a problem too with noisy neighbors, but that was not the hotels fault, and they did handle it promptly.
I left my pillow in the hotel room when I checked out and I called that night to make sure housekeeping retrieved it. The phone rang and rang and rang at housekeeping until I had to call back and leave a message with the front desk. They did not get back with me for two days so I called back and the lady said "oh yeah! we found it, she said she called you but I must've written down the wrong number" (sure). She said that they have my property but no one is in housekeeping right now to let me know how much it would be to get it back. She said it would probably be really expensive since it is so bulky, even though it is just a pillow lol. I asked her to please let me know how much it would be to send it back to me or if I should have someone get it on my behalf. She said she would call me back and let me know. Not surprisingly, I haven't heard from her.
Overall the hotel is clean and the staff that maintained my room throughout the week did a very nice job. Everyone was friendly and I will be staying there again because of work but I did not like the response time on my belongings and the bug in the bed was a concern that maybe should be handled on a grander scale, such as spraying for bugs in the room or investigating the mattresses.

Great hotel with fabulous location for airport, shopping at International Plaza, hanging out at Busch Gardens, and only 30 mins from the beaches of Clearwater and St Pete’s. Staff are right on the money, friendly, helpful and interested in feedback.
Rooms are up to regular IC standard , with fabulous beds and good quality liens in both the room and bathroom. Hotel has a roof top pool, which whilst not large, does allow you to unwind and catch the rays. Health club on site is ample and free. Downstairs is a good friendly bar, with a Shula’s next door, where the steaks are first class.
All in all we sued this hotel for four nights during our vacation from the UK in the Tampa area, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back as well as recommend.

It was our first time to Tampa and staying at Intercontinental. It was a beautiful room close to everything you'd want to see in Tampa.
*Side note: DO NOT touch the items in the fridge. unfortunately I did before reading it and was charged for items i didn't consume.
It was our 5 year anniversary and also celebrating our last getaway before the birth of our first baby! (babymoon) so the staff brought us up some wine glasses, apple juice :), and decadent chocoalte cake piece.
It was a great stay minus the unexpected fridge charges. I will def. return.

The hotel is in the heart of Tampa. I drove down to attend a baseball game. I spent one night in the hotel. The staff was nice, and the hotel was in good shape. There was an extensive amount of remodeling going on, but it never effected my stay. Overall a good stay, and I would book at this hotel again.

As always stay at the Intercontinental as it is close to where I grew up in South Tampa, close to the airport, Beaches, and the WestShore Mall with many fine dining restaurants (The Palm & Maggiones Little Italy to name a few) directly across the street to walk to.

3rd time staying at this location as it is an approved Corporate Hotel. Front Staff member was rude, unfortunately this was the same person at check in and check out. No replacement towels or bathmats after room cleaning on first night, 2nd night the door to my room was not closed when I returned. Received notice that due to corp relationship water on table was complimentary, but got billed anyway.

The staff was A++ with my reservation, the reservations for the delegates in the party (US and foreign visitors alike!) and I would stay at this location again, should I have the choice. In addition, I would recommend the service staff, wait staff, and front desk staff to anyone who asked. THANKS FOR A GREAT STAY!!!!!

The girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights. The location is great, driving distances to the beaches (Clearwater and St. Petersburg), Busch Garden, Ybor City, and the airport. We rented a car and the hotel has free parking (also valet). We received an upgraded room (king jr suite) which was a pleasant surprise. Lots to do around this hotel. A lot of restaurants and malls that are a few minutes away. There is an outdoor (small) pool on the 9th floor which can use a touch up.

Cleaning sponges left in bathroom on counter. Started with 4 bath towels but ended up with only 2 after the room was cleaned. Turned the air conditioning to the lowest it would go, 65, and it was still too warm in the room. Horrible view looking out into the atrium at empty office space and space being renovated. Could not leave the curtains open. Comfortable bed thank goodness. Fortunately we were not in the room for any amouont of time but when we were there it would have been nice to have a room that would cool down. I heard others complaining as well.

This is my first time staying at and Intercontinental hotel. I must say I was very impressed with how beautiful my room was. Also the staff was very friendly. The only thing I would make a comment on is the vent in the bathroom was filled with dust. Other than that the remainder of the room was extremely clean.

Very nice hotel, A+ location, free parking, awesome staff. The ONLY complain I have is that the gym really needs to be bigger and needs a new universal weight unit. It would be an A+ instead of A-. For room service, order the cobb salad, Absolutely awesome and at your door in 15 mins, Shulas bar is great as well. Repair those Sharper Image radios or order new ones, the nature and beach sounds are great to fall asleep to in order to drown out the monster elevator noise. Also, need free internet for IHG members, they do that at the Sheraton--otherwise why did I sign up?? Thanks!

While we arrived to a lobby that was experiencing the sound of sledge hammers due to ongoing construction in the atrium outside, we were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and modern decor of the hotel. The location is convenient to a very large shopping mall with high-end retail stores as well, and in close proximity to many wonderful restaurants. The value for the room was exceptional, as we were quoted a rate as Florida residents, which also included a fabulous breakfast buffet at Shula's restaurant in the hotel. We also used the workout facility both days, and the equipment was perfect for the traveler. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the AC was nice and cold. Had a wonderful sleep there. We'll be back when we visit Tampa again.

The Staff at this hotel is wonderful, from the check in staff to the service staff in the bar and restaurant. They apparently have the resposibility to make sure the client is taken care of. It certainly shows. What a grand hotel. Special praise goes to T. Rose, Concierge. She truly adds value and warmth to my stay.

Stayed 7 nights over a 2 week period
Staff could be trained better, when I asked if they have "turn down service" the front desk staff member said "sir we never try to turn down a guest request"
Bar never gave last call for food, on a sat pm at 1030 pm only the bartender on duty, I came back went to the bar waited 20 min then walked up to the bar while i waited for her to key in a dinner order and then told sorry dinner just stopped serving

Staff and service were exellecent. They immediately acknowledged my ambassador priority reward status. The bed was comfortable. The only down side was my room was on the freeway side and therefore was a lot of traffic noise. Other than that, everything else was Intercontinental status

I travel to Tampa on business 8-10 times per year. I stay at the Hotel Intercontinental every time. It is a wonderful trouble free experience. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Room is very comfortable and always perfectly clean. Truly a 4 star experience. Location is great for access to airport, malls and downtown.

I had requested a wake up call at 6:30 a.m. on 7.31.13, as I had a 7:15 a.m. breakfast meeting. I did not receive a wake up call until 6:50 a.m., and when I asked the gentleman why the call was so late, he informed me that the hotel had a lot of calls to make. I don't think that this reflects well on the standard of service that you try to achieve.

second stay in this hotel. Good room, good amenities, good food. Returned despite Bell service problem on first visit. Had another Bell service problem this time which cost me over an hour delay while trying to depart on a rather long drive home.
Unlikely to stay here again on next trip to Tampa.

The rooms are just ok, and the room service was delivered 30 minutes after requested and had to be canceled and I was not able to have breakfast. Long line at the front desk to check in and ask for a diff key. The bay view room was horrible - I paid extra for a view of the major street. Horrible experience for the price I paid,

I was there for a meeting and the meeting staff was fantastic. Took care of every details for the meetings. The dining room/lounge staff were efficient and nice. Love this hotel.

Our flight from Houston was delayed with TPA arrival changed from 1245 AM to a few minutes past 0100 on 15/16 July 2013.
Our attempts to have the shuttle pick us up were denied and therefore cost us an additional $15.00 for cab fare. Since we paid for this service, it would seem only appropriate that we be credited with that fare.
