Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant stays I had two recent stays, both positive. Rooms and beds are large and comfortable. Room service was extremely polite and the quickest I've seen in recent memory. Location is fantastic (no need for a car here). Gym is excellent. Knowledgable staff. Bartenders professional and knowledgable. From the outside this property looks worn out, but inside its more elegant looking. I stayed using points and was upgraded and treated well. Will definitely stay again. 12 September 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mozart Chocolates For years I'm coming to Vienna IC to enjoy the reward nights, one of the nicest elements of the welcome was the Blue Mozart Chocolates available in the room and at the Club. Since my last trip this weekend I have been told that it doesn't exist anymore. We are very sad that this was done without asking the frequent guests. 12 September 2013

In all of my life I didn't have such worst experience as I had in this hotel. Reception staff is non professional and impudent. They don't Know how deal with customers, They misbehaved with my family and didn't give all the facilities to them even they didn't up grade the room. 09 September 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Vienna ICH Needs Improvement Between Aug. 7-18 we stayed at ICH hotels in Budapest, Vienna and Prague and the Vienna hotel was our least favorite. We were disappointed that the restaurant in the hotel was closed for the summer. We were not told this in advance. It was closed to open an ice cream parlor instead. As far as we could see, the ice cream parlor did very poor business. Makes more sense to have the restaurant open for the convenience of the guests. Even though I am an Ambassador club member, we were given a very small room. This was a disappointment. The hotel does not have an ATM machine in it and the closest one was a few blocks away. A lot of inconveniences. And this hotel was the most expensive of the three we visited. Budapest ICH was the best. Location on Stadtpark is only OK. 22 August 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by all fine but I had a bad experience when I checked in. the guy at the reception was not very polite. He just keep asking for my credit card without giving me time to check that everything was in order. When I arrived at the reception his first words were hello good evening, may have your credit card? he seemed to be in a hurry. I always prefer to ckeck that the hotel has registered the same price for the room that was in my reservation but in this was case I had to insist to have this confirmation. 15 August 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Intercontinental Hotel Vienna - Birthday Celebration We came here for my wife's 50'th birthday and everything ran superbly. The hotel provided cake and flowers and champagne as an arrival gift. The room, a studio suite was just the right size and the location of the hotel was excellent. We used the well maintained and equipped fitness centre and then refuelled via the sumptuous breakfast buffet. Finally, mention mus be made of the staff, all of whom were first-rate. I have stayed in a number of Intercontinental Hotels and this one is right up there with the best of them; we will definitely be returning. 09 August 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel in great location I visited IC Vienna with my wife. I bought the "weekend escape" packet in advance with good room as her birthday present. As ambassador member, room was upgraded to a suite. Hotel had three distinctive advantages. Location, room quality and good service. Location was superb. It was easy to walk everywhere and the traffic noice did not bother us. The suite room was excellent. Large and spacy room with nice colours and good bed. And I got help from the staff everytime I asked any. 06 August 2013

Food was good but service at this breakfast restaurant was so severely lacking that we decided to have breakfast simply at the Executive Lounge. 31 July 2013

Excellent gym Superb lounge with the best views of the Viennese skyline. A breakfast buffet that excels on both quality and quantity. Central location and in easy walking distance to the city center. Directly next to the city park and the underground system. In house restaurants and bars with beautiful, classical Viennese charm All in all, the best hotel in Vienna and easily among the best InterContinental in Europe if not the world. 15 July 2013

The room was comfortable, with good amenities. The staff - housekeeping, concierge, front-desk, lobby bar - were responsive and polite. The buffet breakfast had an excellent spread, although the restaurant could benefit from having more service staff. The lobby bar is spacious, welcoming, with separate coffee and alcoholic counters to serve different needs. The lobby is large, and there are sufficient elevators. We had an excellent view from our room, overlooking the park. The location is SO convenient, a short walk to many attractions, downtown shopping street, and opposite the train station. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New home After our marriage, my wife (born in Vienna) and me have jused the same hotel in Vienna for 30 years. When we learned that it was closed, we were in distress. But after our first visit to The Intercontinental, we were extremely happy again. We stayed in a beautifull room on the 12th floor and used the executive room as a kind of living room to receive relatives and (one) business relation. And also we used it for breakfast, reading and socializing. It was a more than pleasant stay. We were happy that we have found a new home in Vienna. We will come again and again. 12 July 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointing We're Royal Ambassador members and have been staying at the property several times a year for many years for leisure. We have always mostly enjoyed our stays until now and just completed a 3 nights stay. Sadly some of the long-term irritations persist and have got worst. As a previous poster, our taxi wasn't greeted at the hotel entrance, and we carried our own luggage up the stairs and as it happened my wife hurt herself doing so. It's my impression that there are less porters than before. The check in on arrival in the lounge was poor and no real personal recognition of our loyalty just a cut and paste unsigned letter in the suite. The main gripe is the Club Lounge where the cost-cutting has been so severe it makes it unattractive. The food was always been mean and poor before – rather silly spoons with minuscule raw dried fish cubes and mean cold snacks and rather uncoordinated bizarre hot snacks that are nearly always cold or luke warm. I had seen the manager inspect on one evening – but we never actually saw him taste the food. Luke warm food is unsafe food. Even at breakfast the hot buffet choice was only two items ie cold frankfurters and cold scrambled egg. It seems that the food doesn't arrive hot but is warmed in the bain marie. Published times were rarely met. For example there was no hot water for tea at breakfast and staff attempted to make tea with tepid water. When foodstuffs disappeared they were not replenished. On one morning my wife came up to find no rolls or muesli and nothing in the hot cabinet. She didn't want to go to the main restaurant so I took her out for breakfast. Royal Ambassador members can choose to have breakfast either in the suites/rooms or main restaurant but that isn't the point. Also, less money is spent on liquid refreshment with a rather cheap and undrinkable Gruner Veltliner and a single alcoholic cheap beer rather than the enjoyable Gosser previously offered. Twinings tea has been replaced by a cheaper tea. Even the Mozart Balls have been downgraded! The other issue which the management are fully aware of is that the lounge is used by some families as a child minding service so they go off and leave the children who regularly run amok in the lounge, fingering the food and making lot's of noise and spend all day playing games on the computers so that other users cannot use them. Even when they are with their children no control is exercised. This means that the lounge often not a pleasant environment. They should basically make a few simple rules that other ICs find acceptable ie no unaccompanied minors in the lounge at any time; computers not to be used by children at all and only used by adults for email and making travel arrangements ie not sitting for 3 hours watching feature films and just like IC Singapore a completely child-free environment ie no children from Happy Hour onwards with separate provision made elsewhere for families with children to create a proper Club Lounge ambience. And if you offer special check in in the lounge have more than one computer so that arrivals don't have to wait to check in. The Royal Ambassador “gift” was a half bottle of wine – which RA's can take from the mini-bar for free anyway and an individual chocolate cake. There was virtually no TV for Brits - just BBC news. Thankfully we bought our own ipad connected to our home based slingbox. The combined staffing reduction in the lounge with less experienced although enthusiastic staff made the lounge a complete waste of time. On the positive side staff are enthusiastic even though it felt most were inexperienced and under-trained. However at the moment we do not plan to return because the issues we encounter are more important to us than simply value. I have only posted these comments here because I have brought these issues to the hotel's management many times before and they remain unresolved and are now worst – staff tell me that management knows - and public reviews seems to be more of a motivator than direct feedback from a Royal Ambassador member. It's disappointing to write this way - about a hotel we have known and loved for years. 11 July 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast As an Ambassador I only stay in Intercontinental Hotels worldwide. Even I live in Vienna I stayed with my wife in this hotel as my daughter had a party at home and wanted us out of the house. We were very excited about the breakfast the next morning. We got very dissapointed immediately as they charged us 32 EUR per Person for the breakfast which is way too much. The cold cut is very cheap meat. No high quality ham, salami or bacon. Below the plate on the table there was a paper (!) with Intercontinental adds. It looked like a fast food restaurant. All in all my wife and I agreed that this breakfast is worth not more than maximum 10-15 EUR. If you have the chance to stay there once do not have breakfast in the hotel but just go out across the street and chose a local bakery shop like Anker, Mann or Stroeck. There the breakfast is about 6-8 EUR per person and it will be much better. 07 July 2013

In addition, I'm a elite gold member of the IHG and as such, I'm eligible for free internet during my stay but I was asked to pay for it even after explaining my point of view. 05 July 2013
