The Willard Washington D.C

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 549 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by staff Staff was generally very good. great location could use 22 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and historic property What a wonderful place! I will definitely stay there again. Loved the close location to the mall and the White House. It was quiet but simple to get to anything you wanted. 21 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staying at the Willard for the history of it If I said that anything during my stay at this grand hotel was only "just ok", I would be a very hard to please fellow. I expected very high standards and I got them the moment I arrived. The valet staff was very professional and efficient. My baggage was quickly removed and secured and my car was safely taken care of. Checking in was outstanding. The room was well "wow". Bellmen service was excellent. Room service was above and beyond the best I have ever experienced. The only sad thing of the whole stay at the Willard was that since the hotel was sold out on my schedueled day of departure was that I could not extend my stay by one more day. Staying at the Willard was on my "bucket list" because of my study of the historical period and the Willard's part in this history. Checking out was again outstanding. 17 March 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Difficult check-in and not a good room - forgot our upgrades I love The Willard and have stayed many nights over the years. By far my favorite hotel. The experience I had this last visit was not what was promised or had been my experience in the past. As an Ambassador Level Member I was told an upgraded room would be available for me as well as fresh fruit and bottled water. These upgrades did not happen. The room was in a corner and the only way to watch TV was to lay on the bed sideways. There was a chair in the room but since I was not traveling alone in order for us to watch TV in bed we had to lay on our sides. 16 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Family friendly fun! I have stayed at the WIllard for business and chose to bring our children there for a DC weekend. We had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful from front desk staff to concierge to housekeepers. We would definitely come back. The only problem was that they forgot to clean our room. When we brought it to their attention at 5 PM , it was cleaned perfectly right away and they credited some of our charges. Thank you! 16 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful experience in Washington,DC This hotel was beautiful, elegant and gave top-notch service throughout our stay. From the front desk to the valet parking, hotel employess were always courteous and helpful. The Cafe Du Parc restaurant was delicious for lunch. We were at the hotel for a wedding. The food and service were elegant. I highly recommend this hotel during a visit to Washington. The hotel room was spacious and elegantly appointed. 15 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Deluxe Accommodation Exceedingly comfortable and spacious room. Appreciated all the amenities (bathrooms, iron and ironing board, etc.). Can't be the location and certainly the entire hotel reeks of history (from Lincoln to Martin Luther King). I'll definitely plan another stay at the Williard InterContential Hotel! 15 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location Good location. High price. Polite staf. Very nice lobby. Very expansive breakfast. You pay extra for the omelet. Any benefit to platinum members. Expansive wifi. 15 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Editor - in - Chief , Boston Global Forum Great experience . Great value . I strongly recommend . 14 March 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The location and lobby attract; but, the room and beds felt flat The hotel is one of DC's prettiest hotels and boasts a beautiful lobby. Desk staff were pleasant and welcoming. Conveniently located to the Mall, tourist attractions and downtown business. My upgraded (for a fee) "suite" was two standard rooms joined by a connecting ante-room, one turned into a sitting area. Rooms were clean and standard hotel rooms -- nothing in the rooms echoed the grandeur of the lobby. Our biggest disappointment was with the beds. Lumpy down(?) pads were laid on top of tired standard hotel mattresses. The bottom sheet was not fitted so it quickly came untucked and combined with the pillowy pad created a bit of a lumpy, wrinkly sleep surface. A lack of slippers for us both (without asking), an obvious long hair stuck to the shower wall the entire stay, and an ignored coffee maker were nuisances that detracted. Finally, internet access was to be charged at $10/day/device --- for platinum rewards members in a suite. Astounding and very disappointing, even if it is what other hotels are doing. 12 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always Memorable Experiences! My husband and I have been booking rooms at the Willard for over a decade. They consistently provide exceptional customer service, attention to detail, extra perks for special occasions and beautiful rooms...in addition to being perfectly located. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to every visit! 07 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by February 2013 Stay Our stay at the Willard was an enjoyable eperience. The history and overall architecture of the hotel is spectacular. The room was very spacious for an older hotel. The location was perfect for seeing the sights of DC. We saw the President leave and return on Marine One from our room. 07 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service! From the time we booked until the time I stepped out of the door going to the airport to go home, it was a great experience. The food, the service, the comfort of my room, the staff-- all were great. 06 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Willard weekend We were upgraded to a Willard room, which was wonderful! Beds and linens were very comfortable. The hotel was quiet, but there was quite a bit of street noise. Very central, although no shopping within walking distance. We didn't get to spend as much time in the hotel as we would have liked. Highly recommend it, and can't wait to return. 22 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and a perfect location! This was our first trip to Washington D.C. and the Willard InterContinental made it relaxing and fun! It is located in the heart of downtown which made it easy for us to walk to all of the major attractions. The Willard is an exquisite hotel and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying with InterContinental again! 19 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Elegant grand hotel This hotel is a gracious, elegant , historic place to stay in our nation's capital. The staff was courteous and helpful and the ambience was relaxing and dignified. We have discovered our new favorite hotel in Washington. 17 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great place to stay when visiting D.C. My wife and I stayed at the Willard Hotel in celebration of Valentine's Day. We had a beautiful deluxe room on the 12th floor and decided to have the catering department deliver our VD dinner there. Our dinner was delivered in 30 minutes as promised by a server wearing a tux and our beautiful cloth covered table was removed 5 minutes after we finished our excellent meal. The next morning we had a short walk after breakfast to visit the White House and to see some of the other monuments. At 1 p.m. we had a reservation for tea. The music was relaxing and the food delicious. The entire staff from the front desk to the valet were extremely courteous and helpful. The Willard Hotel is probably the #1 historic hotel to see in the #1 most important city of the world. As we were checking out, we met a grandfather who was staying at the Willard and showing his grandchildren Washington D.C. My immediate reaction was that I would like to do this too! 16 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect stay! Stayed 4 nights in February and had a wonderful time. The hotel was beautiful, the room spacious and comfortable and the staff gracious. 16 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great visit When each of our grandchildren reach the age of nine, we take them to Washington DC so they will learn about our Capital and the nation. This was our third of eight such visits. The staff at the Willard from the gentleman (from Kentucky) who checked us in to the bell hop to the concierge to the cleaning personnel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. On our previous two visits with grandchildren, we stayed at a neighboring hotel. We will be looking to the Willard in the future. Thank you. 16 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect- Of course! Very professional hospitality crew. Everything is run smoothly and they certainly made us feel very welcome! 14 February 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Place for a Special Occasion Didn't have time for a long trip to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, so we splurged on an overnight at The Willard and played tourists. It was a wonderful 24 hours! The breakfast in the cafe was part of the package. Scrumptous spread! This could become an annual anniversary destination for us! 12 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A truly grand hotel I escorted my dad to the Willard to attend a function there. When we checked in, I asked reception if they would honor the room rate from my dad's last visit. I showed the receipt from his stay in 1965 when he was 50 years old and the room rate was $9.00 per night. LOL, but the copied the receipt and by the next day all the staff knew who my dad was. They gave him a real VIP treatment and he truly enjoyed his visit. 11 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Staying in the venerable Willard Hotel had been a dream for both of us, so when we decided to marry in DC, we knew where we'd want to spend our first night as a married couple. The room was spacious and lovely. The bathroom (love that marble!) was large, and the amenities (from the bathrobes in the closet, to the turn-down service) reminded us that we were experiencing the best in hotel perks. It was a memorable stay all around. 11 February 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel facing White House Great location, nice rooms & lobby. The staff missed delivering the newspaper in the morning despite verifying that I needed it. 10 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service Excellent Property. We had very coomfortable weekend stay in this hotel. This was not our first time at this property. Weekend Afternoon Tea was memorable experience. 10 February 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Everything was perfect until... I discovered on the plane that my travel pillow was missing from my carry-on bag. (I'd watched my husband put it into my carry-on before we disembarked from the plane and headed to The Willard). So, one of the housekeeping staff has a brand new self-inflatable Relax the Back lumbar support! . Thank goodness we'd put everything of value in the safe. Otherwise, our stay at The Willard was lovely. 09 February 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Experience We had been hearing about the Willlard Hotel for many years. This was our 1st visit; it was for a wedding. We joined the Ambassador Club ($200) for the amenities, especially the upgrade. We checked in Thursday (ahead of most all the other wedding guests) and received a very small room. We were told no upgrades were available. We later learned many of our friends who arrvied later than we had received upgrades to much nicer rooms. They Illy coffee machine we had preordered (twice) was not in our room and took several calls to have delivered. The free movie we were promised would not work on Friday night. The Wall Street Journal promised on Friday morning was never delivered. On a positive note, the maid and laundry service were very good, as were the linens and towels. I doubt that we would stay here again. 07 February 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hisoric Hotel with very friendly staff Looked forward to my visit and am happy I decided to book THE WILLARD ... Only negative was my disappointing experience with room service which I looked forward to after decided to stay in to watch a sporting event ... Food was of poor quality and poorly prepared as though the person preparing did not care ... shocking the order was not checked by a supervisor in the kitchen ... something as simple as a caesar salad and pizza came with old under dressed greens, small croutons with no flavor ... pizza undercooked (nothing less appealing than undercooked pizza!) On the plus side, the charge was removed as I could not enjoy and eat what was sent ... Mr. Ryan and I visited the next day and he did his best to have me leave with a positive feeling ... Room service at best is expensive and one anticipates the best of quality and service from THE WILLARD and other 5 Star Hotels ... I asked to visit with the F&B Director and was advised none at THE WILLARD? Perhaps this is at the root of the problem with Room Service ... 06 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Historic Hotel This is a beautiful, historic hotel. I loved the historical section in the back hallway. Rooms were big and comfortable and well appointed. 31 January 2013
