Insider Tips

Taxis in DC are metered, so the price on the meter is normally what you pay.
Since 1850, the Willard has epitomised Washington luxury hotels and remains a destination for the world’s power brokers and visitors drawn to the nation’s capital. The hotel is charming and sophisticated, situated in a coveted location: just two blocks from the White House and National Mall. Revered by locals and guests, the Round Robin & Scotch Bar remains a lively meeting place since the days of Abraham Lincoln. After a busy day in D.C., enjoy a relaxing treatment at the full-service spa.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Willard - one of DC's venerable properties We arrived rather late at night and the front desk person was so delightful and charming that we didn't notice how tired we were. In no time flat she had us checked in and on our way up. The room was beautiful and the beds gave us a great night's sleep. The Willard is never a bad choice! 29 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall very nice The Willard is centrally located to everything. Walking distance to the Mall and the White House. It is beautifully decorated and the service is excellent. Everyone was accommodating and pleasant. Although overall it was a very nice stay, we encountered 2 issues while we were there. We were on the 9th floor and the A/C in the room just wouldn't cooperate. For the first 2 days of the stay it was irrelevant how low we put the temp. The room just wouldn't cool off. After a couple of days, it seemed to kick in but then the humidity was extrememly high and the room felt damp. The 2nd thing was the jackhammers being used late into the night outside of our window. While the hotel has littel control over that, it sure made for a noisy night. Regardless of these particular issues, I would consider staying there on my next trip to DC. 29 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Historic Gem!! A must! Terrific location, outstanding staff, also doorman Steve extremely knowledgable on points of interest, restraunts, etc. Hotel restraunt, cafe, and bar have great variety of tasty choices we enjoyed and competitively priced. Room and bed very comfortable too. I am an IHG member and have many choices of places to stay. We will make it a must to stay here again. It exceeded my expectations! Enjoy! 28 August 2014
