I have stayed at the intercontinental in Wellington, New Zealand before and despite being in the middle of renovations was impressed by the service. This time I was disappointed. From the bar /lounge downstairs where we waited for more than 20min for our cocktails to the room service orders being massively mismanaged.

Hotel is located in a central area of Wellington. Newly refurbished guest rooms are fantastic, however be aware that not all floors of the hotel are refurbished and there is a difference in appearance of the rooms on those levels. Staff were excellent throughout the hotel. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Great suite if a bit on the small side. Staff excellent, only downside is that main restaurant has an unusual and limited menu (not for everyday sustenance), no coffee shop as such but a tex-mex bar type restaurant. This was a bit rough, very limited menu on Friday and Sunday evenings, when we tried it. Food was poor and service slow. Would not eat there again. The club lounge was however very good.

Rooms were good but a little dated for the price with wear most notable on the black paint on the luggage rack which doesn't really suit a hotel of this calibre. Carpark is horrible, lift does not access all the carpark...it needs to be cleaned up, resurfaced and all the old furniture lying around needs to be cleaned up.

A terrific hotel in a wonderful Wellington location. The refurbishment has worked very well and the Chameleon Restaurant is a real asset.

This was our first visit since the refurbishment and what a difference. We noticed the changes immediately we stepped into the foyer with a new layout to the lounge and bar. Check-in was simple, and we headed to our 7th floor room on one of the the Club Floors. The room was spacious and luxurious. We enjoyed the complimentary internet and harbour views. The service from every member of the hotel staff who we encountered during our two night stay was friendly, knowledgable and they made us feel very welcome. The Club Lounge has an awesome view and the addition of a chef during the breakfast service is a great addition.
We enjoyed the new style of tasting plate menu in the Chameleon restaurant, where we had dinner. The gym and indoor swimming pool are just what we look forward to and were not busy, which really suited us.
Great location in the city - we couldn't have asked for more and we look forward to our next trip to Wellington!
