Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tiny M Great hotel but dinning choices limited
Great suite if a bit on the small side. Staff excellent, only downside is that main restaurant has an unusual and limited menu (not for everyday sustenance), no coffee shop as such but a tex-mex bar type restaurant. This was a bit rough, very limited menu on Friday and Sunday evenings, when we tried it. Food was poor and service slow. Would not eat there again. The club lounge was however very good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by WarwickF Reasonable hotel but needs improvement
Rooms were good but a little dated for the price with wear most notable on the black paint on the luggage rack which doesn't really suit a hotel of this calibre. Carpark is horrible, lift does not access all the carpark...it needs to be cleaned up, resurfaced and all the old furniture lying around needs to be cleaned up.

A terrific hotel in a wonderful Wellington location. The refurbishment has worked very well and the Chameleon Restaurant is a real asset.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Louise58 Love the Refurbishment!
This was our first visit since the refurbishment and what a difference. We noticed the changes immediately we stepped into the foyer with a new layout to the lounge and bar. Check-in was simple, and we headed to our 7th floor room on one of the the Club Floors. The room was spacious and luxurious. We enjoyed the complimentary internet and harbour views. The service from every member of the hotel staff who we encountered during our two night stay was friendly, knowledgable and they made us feel very welcome. The Club Lounge has an awesome view and the addition of a chef during the breakfast service is a great addition.
We enjoyed the new style of tasting plate menu in the Chameleon restaurant, where we had dinner. The gym and indoor swimming pool are just what we look forward to and were not busy, which really suited us.
Great location in the city - we couldn't have asked for more and we look forward to our next trip to Wellington!

We spent one night in this hotel before NYE, six nights with family and then four more nights in the Hotel. This hotel has fantastic staff, who could not be more helpful to guests, esp the concierge staff, Jason and Ellie are wonderful. Renovations still going which creates some noise, but worth the noise as the new deluxe rooms much better laid out than the old ones. Very comfortable sleep and its nice to be able to open the windows to get some of the wonderful Wellington breeze in your room. This is our hotel of choice in Wellington and we will be back as soon as we can. Thanks again

Other than the little mix up upon check in and the lack of a magnified mirror in the bathroom, everything was very much how we would expect of the Intercontinental Hotel, Wgtn. The Club Lounge staff are very welcoming and go about their roles efficiently and professionally. Love the location of the hotel - perfect.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Steven4064 Not the usual Intercontinental standard
We were disappointed from the time we arrived at this hotel. There was no one to assist us with our bags, despite us politely requesting assistance. The room looked like it had been renovated at some point, with little attention to detail (defects in the walls were not covered adequately etc). The shower area had mould in it and looked like it had not been cleaned properly for some time. It was clear that things like the welcome letter in the room were re-used from the previous guest's stay, as were the bathroom products.
The staff were less attentive than I have come to expect at Intercontinental Hotels. Whilst the breakfast food was quite good, the staff were less attentive there too.
On a positive note, the quality of the gym facilities was very good, and the bed was comfortable. The internet was fast and appeared to be a strong connection.
Like many hotels in NZ, the range of TV channels is limited and leaves something to be desired.
