Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service We had a great stay in Wellington. The hotel is in a great location near the waterfront and close to shops but what really made our stay was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. 07 January 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly and helpful staff enhanced experience We had a great time at the intercon in Wellington. We upgraded to include the executive lounge access and that was well worth the money! Abby at the lounge was exceptionally good at making us and other guests feel comfortable. She definitely made intercon Wellington a repeatable experience! 03 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Room and Dinner Stayed here just the one night unfortunately. Room was excellent, newly refurbished with a great bed and bathroom. Best surprise was the restaurant. My partner and I expected the standard motel meal, but instead got a fantastic meal which we have already told others about. Staff here were excellent, attentive, but not overly so. Although the room was great the restaurant was the real surprise. 03 January 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Memorable Christmas We spent a memorable 4 nights over Christmas. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms and it was excellent. Great shower/bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. Great service in that the staff were available but unobtrusive. The food in the Lobby Lounge and the restaurant was excellent. An excellent experience and an amazing way to spend Christmas. One of the best Christmas presents :) Will definitely be coming back. 31 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 5 star treatment Superb experience from start to finish. Delightful staff readily available with wonderful accomodations. This is the place to stay if you're coming to Wellington! 23 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wedding anniversary We enjoyed our stay overnight on our way to Toronto. Our meal In the Restaurant was excellent with an awesome waiter and service. Only downfall is the bathroom as it is quite small and the mirror fogs up badly. 22 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by New room I stayed in one of your new rooms. They are much nicer than the older ones. But you need to work on some things. The pressure in the shower is far too low and you have to stand almost up against the wall to get wet. The tap for the shower is also too far away. The bench is too narrow to be an effective desk to work from. It would also be good if you removed the second bed so that the small table and chairs could fit more comfortably into the room. 15 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Refurbished room refreshing The recently refurbished 5th floor has brought the Intercontinental Wellington into the 21st century. The quality of the fitout is commensurate with the offering of the Intercontinental brand. 14 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Our Overall Stay Overall, we had an good stay at the Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and we had an amazing, 7th floor view, overlooking the bay. The only criticism were the unpleasant noises linked to the refurburbishment construction. For some reason, the noises were at their very worst between 8.30am to 10.00am, waking us up in an unpleasant manner; we thought it would have been more appropriate (within a HOTEL), to conduct the the worst of the building works, later on in the day ! 10 December 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by expensive and dated. for the price it is not what we expected or have experienced in the past at similar levels of expense. charging for internet after 30 minutes is offensive and out of touch. 08 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Experience The most memorable experience of my 3 day / 2 nights stay at the Intercontinental Wellington was the consistent friendliness of all staff across the board and their very obvious focus on the customer. This made me feel very welcome and my custom appreciated. The only inconsistency in my overall experience was the in-room mini bar. It was stocked in some strangely unbalanced choice of items. A minor detail, really, however, noticeable nevertheless in a 5 star hotel. 07 December 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel in Wellington The IC is in a great position close to the harbour and the many lovely shops and dining options along the waterfront. The hotel is very smart, comfortable with very good staff. We were a small group of colleagues enjoying a few days holiday before the start of our conference. One of us had registered with club intercontinental and could take one person to share in the beaut view from the top floor -food was great too. Beds are really comfortable and the air con is whisper quiet. Our only concerns were the fact that the hotel is under refurbishment. We had been sent an email that work would only occur during business hours and would not affect where we were. However I was woken up by drilling in what felt like the room above me at 7.30 each day-not what I would call business hours. Also our room was opposite the housekeeping room and at 8am after I had tried tol lie back in bed, could hear very loud chatter outside my room. This was not what I expected but was on holiday and everything else was really lovely. Our room was 702- the higher rooms have a nicer view or glimpse of the harbour. I'd go here again but would ask for a room not disturbed by the renovations. 07 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight after ferry ride Great stay with convenient location. The room was comfortable, clean and had nice views of the harbor. I would recommend this hotel. 06 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful beds We found the beds particularly comfortable, and we liked the free bottles of water given at night time. 04 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful inner city luxurious hotel What a fabulous weekend we had in Wellington! Very, very impressed with the location and standard of the hotel - we certainly got what we paid for - and more!! The only criticism I had was the beds were only doubles and just too small for two adults to sleep comfortably - other than that - PERFECT! 27 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Hotel, best in the city Great hotel, unbeatable location. The concierge was extremely helpful, went to a Football game at Westpac All whites vs Mexico and couldnt be happier, expensive hotel but worth the money 26 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NZ TRAVEL BROKERS CONFERENCE Conference staff very attentive, great food provided. Rooms fantastic - love the touch of a coffee after a wake up call! 21 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by best experience wth IC wellington yet 3rd stay with IC wellington. After my previous 2 relatively average stays, this trip was great. Not sure if it was my feedback but I got stay in one of the suites. I was pleasantly escorted to my room by one of the concierges and was also greeted with some complimentary beers and fruit. (Nice touch. Both thumbs up) My colleague also managed to get comp breakfast so we both gained some weight over the course of the week :-) Could not hear any construction noise this time. So it was great (not sure if it was because there was no construction or I was just further away from it) Some other positive notes Prompt welcome by staff on arrive Personalised concierge service Duty managers putting up with my late night gym workouts Room for improvement That pink/salmon couch in the suite is a horrible horrible colour The dryer in the laundry is still broken after 3 months. Safety certification in the lifts appears to have expired about a year ago. 20 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel Hard to find any fault with this property.Service ,food and location were all perfect, We really enjoyed our stay and came away refreshed and happy. 14 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chameleon Restaurant Wonderful menu with plenty of choices. Very knowledgeable waitress, great service and always a smile. Wine choice was excellent. Had a great Anniversary Dinner. Thanks 14 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Such a disappointment We booked the Intercontinental (as we usually do) for a weekend in Wellington. Unfortunately the airport was closed and our plane was cancelled which meant we could not stay the Friday night. I rang to cancel the night, explained what had happened and how we would be arriving in the morning. I said I understood the hotel's policy re no check in until 3pm but hoped that there could be a room made available (due to unavoidable circumstances). It was the wedding of one our oldest friends and we were very excited for the big day. The bus was leaving at 3pm and so we really needed that hotel room. We arrived on the re-booked flight early Saturday Morning and went to drop our bags at the hotel and explained our situation and that we desperately needed a check in time before 3pm. The woman on the desk did not even raise an eyebrow, sympathise with us, empathise with us or share a laugh about Wellington Airport being closed by fog!! The signs were not good so we asked to receive a text if there was a chance. We returned at 1pm where she said she would not be able to help us. We explained that we had indeed had a room booked the previous evening but due to fog our plane had been cancelled - could she please make an exception as the bus to the wedding departed at the same time as check-in? Finally, after a return visit at around 2pm she finally relented but insisted the room she was giving us would be noisy. We said we didn't care and thanked her for being so lenient in regards to the policy. My husband worked at this hotel as a student and I have also worked retail in my student days. Empathy with the woes of weary (but excited) travellers impacted by things outside of their control is an essential part of any good hotel. I'm really sad to say it but we won't be staying here again. 13 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay Intercontinental Wellington is the best hotel in the city. Staff are so helpful and welcoming. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Meals are superb. 05 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful hotel, concierge very helpful Loved the hotel and location. great services and concierge level staff superb. Views are fine and value is good for a high end hotel. NZ resort towns costs much more for less hotel than Wellington Intercontinental. Bed covers too hot. 04 November 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Surprisingly Tired I used to stay at this hotel a lot, and used to really liked it. Hadn't stayed for about a year, and was quite surprised at how tired the rooms had become. Bedside console literally had fallen apart. No bedside clock. I know there is a refurb underway, but I would say this is well overdue. However, on a positive note, staff were their usual friendly and professional selves. This included front of house and housekeeping staff who were delightful. 02 November 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Check in experience poor Despite requesting on the booking that we'd like a harbour view Club room, we were given a non-harbour view room without even an apology or an acknowledgement that our request couldn't be met. When we pointed out that we had requested a harbour view room, check in offered a superior room on a lower floor at no extra charge, or an upgrade to a suite at $150 extra per night. Neither was acceptable so we took the original Club room offered to us. However, check in offered to check for a harbour view room the next day and let us know but we never heard anything back about this and we stayed 3 nights. This has happened to us twice before i.e. we'd request a harbour view room, we'd turn up and be given a non-harbour view room without apology, check in would offer to check the next day and then never hearing back about it. This is very poor service! 01 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic location and lovely staff I stayed at the InterContinental with my son (it was his birthday present). The location was fantastic - basically half way between the Beehive and Te Papa and 1 minute to the Cable Car and good shopping. Having 2 queen beds was perfect, and the beds were very comfortable. Loved the pillow menu, on our 2nd night I got a foam pillow and my son got the lavender pillow and we were both asleep in minutes! We made good use of the spa, sauna and pool and we also enjoyed a delicious room service meal. All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. I have to mention that the rooms are a bit tired, however they are undertaking an upgrade at the moment so that will soon be rectified. All in all a wonderful stay. 30 October 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Food Service. I have stayed at the Intercon many times, but this was my first experience of very poor quality of food served to the room, literally for 3 the days I was there. I asked for Eggs Benedict with soft egg, but it came harder than normal, then I ordered steak welldone and it was served TOO welldone and totally dry and hard (i was told the order will arrive in 30 min but took more than 50 min!) finally I ordered the pasta bolognese which was the worst I have ever tried, the meat sauce was dried up and the spagetti was also all dried up. This got to be my first and worst food experience ever in a reputable hotel. I can understan if the chef had one off day but 3 consecutive disasters is appalling. I am planning to be back on the 24 Nov, I hope I have better service this time around. 29 October 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay in Central Wellington This hotel remains at the forefront of all hotels in Wellinmgton dfue to its image and service and its central location. Consistently good 24 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful service from start to finish Top marks to a top Hotel. We were treated like VIP's from the moment we got out of the taxi, until we departed. Staff were so helpful and made our stay very memorable. Room service meals are always lovely. The breakfast is excellent. Not to mention the main restaurant which is equally tops. My Daughter and myself highly recommend this Hotel for your stay in Wellington. 10 October 2013
