We are delighted to welcome you to the InterContinental Buckhead in Atlanta. We're here to help you discover all that our world-class city has to offer and ensure your time with us is nothing short of memorable.
InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta sets new standards of quality with international flair and Southern hospitality. Our non-smoking hotel on legendary Peachtree Road puts you close to Buckhead’s thriving business and shopping districts and provides easy access to attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium, the High Museum of Art, the World of Coca-Cola and the CNN Studio Tour.
Begin the day with a short drive into the heart of Midtown. Less than five miles south of Buckhead, this stylish district has a nice combination of trendy lofts, shops and cafes, including the perfect bohemian breakfast eatery, The Flying Biscuit. This eclectic cafe; serves its signature biscuits and jams and is totally in tune with the neighbourhood. You can also take away its recipes. After brunch, turn the corner on 10th St to find Atlanta's Piedmont Park. With its many walking and jogging paths, fishing ponds and picnic spots, it's a great escape from the urban bustle. On the west side of the park, look for Skate Escape, where you can rent some in-line skates.
Go and explore the High Museum of Art, the Southeast's premier art gallery. Designed by the acclaimed architect Richard Meier, this multi-award-winning, Modernist space contains over 11,000 works of art in its permanent collection. In the newly expanded section, designed by Renzo Piano, you'll find Table 1280, a lovely spot for sipping a signature Woodruff while pondering the meaning of abstract art.
Make your way a few blocks south to Baraonda for an aperitif and an early dinner. Share a plate of antipasto misto with calamari and follow with a tasty wood-fired pizza. To round off the evening, linger like a local in one of Atlanta's most charming neighborhoods, Virginia Highland. Located at the crossroads of Virginia Avenue and Highland Avenue, the area is dotted with boutiques, cafes and galleries. Most of these spots prop their doors open a little later, so you can saunter about while finishing the night with a gelato from the best ice-cream shop in the city, Paolo's Gelato... Enjoy.
Whether you're visiting in the Spring, Summer or Fall, the rich tapestry of foliage in and around Atlanta is the envy of any far less adorned major city in the U.S. Despite warm summers, Atlanta's pronounced seasons offer a conopy of greens, reds and golds in virtually every neighborhood.
A variety of diverse neighborhoods is one element of which Atlanta has no shortage. Fron historic districts hosting cozy tudor cottages and classic craftsman dwellings to sprawling estates in affluent enclaves, Atlanta provides an array of eclectic communities for nearly every taste.
Verbiage such as 'ya'll,' 'fixin,' and 'reckon' can oftentimes throw visitors off a bit- it's part of the charm so soak it in and enjoy the Southern hospitality!
Atlanta is located in the Eastern Standard time zone -5 GMT.
Atlanta's climate is temperate but Spring and Fall are the best times to visit . With year-round festivals, any time is a great time to visit the "ATL". The Summer months can, however be a bit steamy so pack accordingly.
