My name is Issam Al Balushi and I am the Guest Experience Manager. I look forward to welcoming you to the InterContinental Muscat, the home of true Omani hospitality. My team and I will be delighted to show you the treasures of this great country.
InterContinental Muscat's Concierge provides several different functions to guests and assist in providing them with all the necessary and relevant information with regards to the city and the hotel. The concierge team is in charge of booking tours and excursion, flight bookings, restaurant reservations etc.
After breakfast, head for the Grand Mosque, one of the biggest in the Middle East. Next, on to the fish market: the real hustle and bustle happens early so don't leave your visit too late. In order to get an understanding of the local culture and heritage, don't miss the Bait Al Zubair Museum in Old Muscat. The Sultan's residence, the Al Alam Palace, and the two 16th century Portuguese forts, Jalali and Mirani, are all interesting buildings.
After lunch take a stroll along the corniche and take a walk up to the frankincense burner: a monument on top of a small hill which gives you a great view over the city. Continue to the souk where you can start bargaining for local handicrafts, spices and a myriad of other things. For a beautiful sunset continue to the terrace of the Crowne Plaza, perched on cliffs overlooking the sea.
To finish the day, have a relaxing evening stroll along Qurum beach which will bring you back to the hotel. For dinner, I would choose a typical Arabic restaurant, which serves authentic local fare.
Bring a light jacket during winter for cool evenings. Don't forget your swimwear.
