Welcome to the InterContinental TokoyBay. We are honoured to have you with us. It is a great pleasure to help you make the most of time you have. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Occupying a prime vantage point in the heart of Tokyo's dynamic bay area, the InterContinental Tokyo Bay combines urban convenience with expansive panoramas of one of the world's greatest cities in the world.
Why don’t you experience Japanese unique event at Tsukiji Market which is the biggest and most famous fish market in the world. You should not miss Tuna Auction, where huge tuna are unloaded from docks and laid out bidding. But be warned, the auction begins from 5 am. If you don’t feel like early morning, go straight to Uogashi-Yokocho, a nearby street lined with lots of small fish restaurant for the freshest breakfast sushi imaginable. Daiwa Sushi is one I would recommend in particular. After fabulous breakfast, visit the Hama-Rikyu Gardens. It is surrounded by a moat of sea water from Tokyo Bay. Let’s try cup of Maccha Green Tea at the Nakashima tea house located in the middle of a tidal pond.
From Hama-Rikyu Gardens, you can take a Sumida River Boat for Asakusa where is an excellent place to get a feel of what traditional Japan, was like. If you are fortune enough to be visiting in the Spring, you will be treated to a stunning view of cherry blossom along the way. Once there, I suggest you taking a tour with a Jinrikisha which is a small, two wheeled rickshaw pulled by one person. The main draw in Asakusa is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo, Sensoji Temple. From the entrance of Sensoji Temple, Kaminari-mon Gate to Main Hall, there is a shopping street that you can buy some traditional goods, such as Kimono and folding fan. For lunch, try rice bowl covered with Japanese yam at Asakusa Mugitoro.
Visit Ginza where is Tokyo’s upmarket entertainment district. There are many stores such as department stores, boutiques, and so on. If you love shopping, Ginza is absolutely the best place for you. From one extreme to another is Kabuki, one of the most unique experiences in World Theater. Accompanied by traditional Japanese instruments the actors use an old-fashioned language which is difficult to understand, even for us. The Kabuki-za is the theater which is specialized for Kabuki and located in central of Ginza. You can enjoy an atmosphere at gallery and shops in Kabuki-za, even if you don’t watch Kabuki. For dinner, Rangetsu which you can try typical Japanese cuisine is my recommendation. Suki-Shabu-Shabu is amazingly good taste there.
You will have to pay a cover charge at most bars.
RESPECT FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE
The Japanese revere elderly people and use polite words when addressing them. Please be mindful of this.
There is no tipping custom in Japan. But in the hotel, a 10%-15% service charge is added. If you like to show your gratitude to someone, please give them a small gift from your country.
From the middle of June to the middle of July is Japan's rainy season. Please bring a rain coat with you for protection.
알고 계시나요? ?
There are many firework festivals in Japan during the Summer. Please ask the concierge for when and where they will take place.
In Japan, w have women-only train car for rush hours like 7am-10am and 5pm-8pm. So please watch your step and the window of trains when you take.
Depending on the ward (district of Tokyo), there are many public non-smoking areas that you need to be aware of, especially around stations. If you smoke in these areas you will be fined.
Our Emperor is called 'Tenno' in Japanese. The first Tenno was Jinmu Tenno, and the 125th Emperor, Akihito Tenno, has recently ascended to the throne.
Please bring out an insurance card with you. In the event of emergency treatment it will save you both time and money.
Bringing a dictionary is a good idea, as it's handy for when you go out to explore. You will find that not all Japanese speak English.
It is recommended to bring some Japanese Yen, just to cover the cost of transportation from the airport to Tokyo Bay. It will save you the hassle of having to wait to exchange money at the airport.
