¿SABÍA QUÉ? ?
The iconic formation directly south of the resort is named Camelback Mountain, named for its resemblance to a "camel's back." The physical geography of the mountain is marked by a time period of almost a billion and a half years represented by the division between the two peaks of the formations which comprise the mountain. The higher part of the peak is Precambrian age granite around 1700 million years old. On the northern slope of the camel's head is the Praying Monk, an 80-foot rock tower resembling a kneeling monk deep in prayer. Camelback's unique shape and convenient central location make it a magnet that attracts over half a million hikers every year. Trailheads are a short drive or walk from the front doors of the resort.
Phoenix is the capital of Arizona and has an elevation of 1,092 feet above sea level. The Phoenix climate is warm and sunny, with an average humidity level of 28% and an average rainfall total of 7 inches per year. Even in the winter months days are warm and sunny and nights are cool and clear.
