Make your next stop a visit to Cosanti to see Palo Soleri’s famous wind bells and foundry. Then it’s up to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin, originally designed to serve as Wright’s personal winter home, studio and architectural laboratory, and now considered one of Wright’s greatest masterpieces. Or, if a relaxing morning is more your speed, take a walk over to Joya Spa to enjoy one of the signature treatments including the Hammam-style bathing ritual, a Moroccan-inspired skin and body treatment, a mineral or clay wrap, or a customized massage. |
TARDEIf you are out and about, head north from Wright’s home out into the Sonoran Desert to the villages of Carefree and Cave Creek and enjoy lunch at one of the many wonderful cafes. Café Bink in Cave Creek is a local favorite. After lunch enjoy the Galleries, Western art and shopping in this wonderful true Western town. Proceed to Carefree where you see the 3 million year old boulders dotting the landscape. A must see shopping adventure is at the El Pedregal Shops where you can have a refreshing drink or afternoon bite at the Spotted Donkey Restaurant. If you choose to stay nearby, dozens of shops, galleries, museums and restaurants are located down the street in Old Town Scottsdale. |

The physical geography of the mountain is marked by a time period of almost a billion and a half years represented by the division between the two peaks of the formations which comprise the mountain. The higher part of the peak is Precambrian age granite around 1700 million years old. On the northern slope of the camel's head is the Praying Monk, an 80-foot rock tower resembling a kneeling monk deep in prayer.
