This Hotel is often hard to get into, due to it's excellent performance. While the location is on a very busy intersection, and the traffic noise can be noticeable at times, the staff are excellent in their desire to welcome and accommodate you. Rick at the front desk is superb. He always has a smile and remembers my name, and goes out of his way to make sure I am taken care of. I am always recognized for my IHG status, and offered all the amenities that go with it. Because it is in the heart of downtown Columbia, the social makes it so easy to kick back and enjoy a wonderful meal, and just "stay home" for the evening. Also, due to it's popularity, it is often hard to find adequate seating at the breakfast and social, and the kitchen staff is often hard pressed to keep up with food for the demand. I try to stay here every trip I make to Columbia. You should too--but save a seat for me at the social !!

I am very familiar with the area as I spent a great deal of time here with my grandparents as a child/teen/young adult and then as a student @ Carolina. This hotel is in the heart of the city near all of the awesome downtown restaurants and night life. The staff is SUPERB! They were kind and polite and it seemed genuine. Everyone that I encountered during all three of my stays seemed happy, not a fake happy either. I highly recommend this property and I will be back for business and we may return for family time too.

Very clean and well kept. Only down sides were the AC did not seen to follow the thermostat setting and the bed was on the hard side. Other then these minor things everything else was great.

Confortable beds and we had a great stay. We were there for a swim meet at the college and it was a great location. The kitchen was awsome for cooking for hungry swimmers!

Don't be fooled by the small hotel lobby area as the hotel has great amenities. The access to the interstate and downtown Columbia cannot be beat by other area hotels.
The room was a great size for one and could probably accommodate a family of three. The king-sized bed was comfortable however I prefer having two king-sized pillows as to four small pillows.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Originally 3 night stay. Rick (front desk) was able to secure us for 3 more nights due to work issues for us. Their whole team there is great. Breakfast in the morning was great. Always a good variety. Dinner (social time) also great. Staff sure does know how to make someone feel like they are always there first priority. Always asking if there is something else they could do for you. I even was able to get to know some of the housekeeping staff who kept our room clean and well stocked. My husband has already booked this hotel for the next month for work. So we will always book this hotel when in Columbia. Thank you again for your hospitality.

Was here only one night for a concert so wasn't at the hotel very much, just to sleep but I was glad to be able to come back to it. Very clean, nice rooms, everything I needed. I would stay at another Staybridge without hesitation.

Husband says this is the only hotel chain we will stay at from here on out. Centrally located to everything and walking distance to a lot of activities. Very friendly front desk staff who went above and beyond on every detail, even calling local attractions for us for more information. Check in at 3 but our room was ready at noon. We were in a 2 bedroom king suite and it felt like a small apartment with just about everything we needed. Would have been nice to have a dish drain when we hand washed dishes and housekeeping never left us a dish rag so we used our extra washcloths. They did clean the room daily and made it look spotless replenishing our towels but they never restocked any of the complimentary items such as coffee, popcorn, or lotions, Our room was at the end of the building and we were right next to the main highway so traffic noise was significant but obviously not every room in the hotel will be facing that same direction. We didn't hear anything from our neighbors above, below or beside us which was perfect because we have 2 toddlers which means if we couldn't hear them, they couldn't hear us. That right there is a definite selling point for our next stay. Breakfast and supper were very good and had a nice variety. However the food ran out at supper so some nights it ended earlier then 7:30. The heated pool had a broken heater so it was freezing cold which was a big disappointment seeing as that was a major selling point on reserving this hotel. We were planning on tiring the kids out nightly by letting them swim but the water was so cold it would have been cruel to take them in the pool! We did choose to do laundry but over half the washers and dryers were broke so you really had to play a waiting game for machines. Overall even with the few setbacks it is well worth the money and with all the extras they provide, it really does feel like you're staying at home and not a hotel! Drawback outside of the stay itself is we did not know about their rewards program nor was it ever mentioned to us by any staff or reservation member. That being said we now cannot claim our stay and receive credit because we signed up after our visit. That's a lot of points and perks we lost considering we were there for just under a week. Not a fan of this policy, especially because it was not offered prior to checking in. I think you should be able to claim a visit within a set amount of time after check-out.

Very nice facility, great cookout, nice staff & social atmosphere.
Only negative was the water temperature is far too cool. Unable to get it to a "hot" state even when turned full on to hot. Water temp stayed warm.
Also I had to remove debris or a water saver item in the shower head in order to get adequate flow so I did not have to hug the front shower wall to bathe.

I really enjoyed staying here and the breakfast is wonderful. The only negative thing was the curtains. They are fixed to where they don't close and the light comes through the sheers plus I feel uncomfortable undressing with the drapes open. Front desk was very nice and we had a great stay.

The staff was friendly and outgoing. The room was clean and comfortable. It was considerably more expensive than other local hotels but we chose to stay there because we have 2 small dogs and they bill themselves as " Pet Friendly ". Disappointed in the "pet friendly " , as there is really no good place to walk or exercise your pet. The Free breakfast in the morning was acceptable , nothing fancy but the coffee was good. Kind of disappointed for the amount of money we spent

We stayed here for 4 days during the long Thanksgiving weekend.
We were comfortable and felt like we were at home. Plenty of room, accommodating staff and good food. The hot breakfast was wonderful and the cherry on top was the weekday cocktail hour with complimentary beer/wine and food.
Even offered off-site fitness facility guest passes which we did use.
Will definitely go back when we are in town again!

I was staying there for over 3 months. From the start of staying there I was always greeted with smiles and a warm home like atmosphere. The staff were always happy to see you and even learn the guests names. I was fortunate to have family come for a visit a few times and again the staff greeted them with open arms. The meals were always good and always plenty to eat.
I have already recommeded the StayBridge to fellow coworkers and others.
Thanks for making my stay as close to home as you could.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JackyO Overall a good stay
Overall had a nice stay at this hotel. It's new and the rooms have up-to-date furnishings; it's a clean facility. Stayed for three nights and we didn't get our room cleaned after the second night. Reported it to the front desk when we returned to the hotel at the end of a long day and someone brought up some clean towels. When I reported my dissatisfaction at checkout, someone followed me out the door to claim that housekeeping tried three times throughout the afternoon, but they said a DND sign was on the door. This was absolutely not true, because I removed it when I departed the room in the morning, and the magnet was still on my refrigerator when I returned at 8 that night. The breakfast is nice, except when large parties staying at the hotel comandeer the entire dining area and linger for a very long time, preventing other guests from enjoying their breakfast. Not much you can do about that I guess.

In town for a wedding, so I had never stayed here previously. Found the hotel to be very clean and customer friendly. The morning breakfast was good, with many selections. I understand there is an evening snack during the week but I was not staying at that time. Enjoyed my stay and would stay there again if in the area!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by BlueCanyon 4 issues,,,regarding customer experience at your Columbia, SC property
1. I made reservations months in advance and when I checked in with the manager and requested a quiet room he said the only available rooms were on the traffic/road side (Huger in Columbia SC).
Incredibly noisy side of the motel and it impacted my sleep.
2. the morning buffet breakfast was spartan with items, coffee was in short supply, and staff was dismissive. They seemed like they were not trained to keep coffee available, and focus on customer service. Very disappointing experience since breakfast is so easy and trivial to do, plus the toaster was not working but out on table.
3. I was disappointed that breakfast hours opened late at 7a on weekdays, and 7:30a on Saturday and Sunday. Give me a break,,, who are those hours convenient for? Staff or customers,,,
4. I requested a Sunday morning wake-up call at 6:30a and I never received it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by flacrabb Great hotel for mixing business and running
I stayed at this hotel on a business trip specifically for its location: just a short walk to the Riverfront Park with its great running trail. It was a great choice. The hotel is in great condition. The free breakfast is very good, and the complementary food and beverages at night were an unexpected bonus. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Their dining area could use a little more seating, as it filled up in the morning, but overall I thought the hotel exceeded my expectations in every way, and was $20-40 less per night than some other similar properties.
The running trail just topped it all off. You can walk or jog about two blocks to the entrance to the Riverfront Park (or whatever it is called). Turning right across the bridge gives you a scenic run up the river to a dam. I'm not sure where left takes you, but it appears to go on quite a ways. Either way, you'll have water on both sides of the trail and some woods. It is a paved trail with no auto access. It gets very busy at 5pm, and is popular with bikers, walkers and runners. The trail is very flat and easy for any skill level. I found the setting to be perfect for a 4 mile easy run at the end of the work day. It would also have been great for a tempo run, cut-downs or intervals. There were white lines marking each mile, but I did not have a reference point for where they started. My Garmin GPS worked perfectly along the entire trail.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tiger1978 Drew REALLY!
I have enjoyed all my many stays here since they opened 3 years ago. The management team is the BEST of any IHG Property I have spent time in. I travel extensively (IHG Platnium VIP 3) in the Southeast and enjoy this property the best BUT Drew, can't you keep a light beer for The Social evening receptions? You do a great job with Serria Nevada or Fat Tire but what about us low carb people? Just keep a light beer with the other micro brews or National labels-please!
The good thing here is that this is all I have to comment/compalin about. Everything else with Drew, Shelley, Kiki, Barbara and Rick at the front desk is just about perfect! Stay here and enjoy a GREAT STAFF and property!

We really enjoy staying at the Columbia, SC Staybridge. As always the room are very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. Also the meals were of good quality. The only thing I feel that needs to be done at this location is the cleaning of the floors in the eating area, as they are always very sticky. I would suggest that whatever products that are being used, should be changed or used with very hot water. I stayed at this location for a week in Sept 2013 and also in Oct for the overnighter. (floors were the same on both stays)
