I have used this hotel for business purposes over the last 4 months. Every time I stay here there have been issues but I keep trying to give them another chance. This last stay I explained to the front desk check in clerk that there had been previous issues, room was not clean, bathroom amenities were half used, no garbage can in the room. He actually upgraded me because of my HIG status and walked me to my room to be sure that all was fine. The room checked out. However the next morning I awoke to no hot water. They did not notify us in any way and I found out that the boiler had been down since 11 Pm the night before. This is suppose to be a Crowne Plaza but it does not live up to the other CPs that I have stayed in . with no hot water that meant no food service and certainly a bad start to the next day's business meeting.

My room was not clean. For the price, i expect the rooms to be clean and smell good. The pool area was nice and the hot tub was good and hot and they also have a sauna which is a plus. The bed was nice and comfortable with lots of comfy pillows and the room was dark and quiet, so we did sleep good. They really need to train the cleaning staff how to be detail oriented and hold them accountable when a room is left so filthy

Many disappointments. First, they messed up my room reservation. I reserved 2 rooms and they were supposed to be next to each other. Both to have King and sleeper sofa. 3 people per room. We were put on opposite sides of third floor plus one room got 2 queen beds in a handicap room. I did not reserve a handicap room and the problem was that a shower chair was bolted to the wall in the shower and you could barely get your head under the shower head. The beds had ill fitted bedskirts and underneath the bed was open. They are usually box beds. Underneath was horribly dusty and had clumps of dust as well. A chair was improperly shoved between the bed and balcony door. This room was not set up to fit a chair. Also, you needed to keep the air conditioner on or the room was way to stuffy and the air conditioner was incredibly loud. I woke up several times a night from the noise. This room needed an overall updating since the carpet and colors were totally shabby. Plus, it was costly for what we got.

Two adults, one teenager and one bed... Ugh! I thought we reserved a room with two queens. We were here for AAU Volleyball State Championships and we needed two beds but due to all the events taking place all the rooms were booked, there were no roll always available so they offered extra pillows and blankets for the floor. We went to our room and 10 mins later hotel staff were at the door. To my pleasant surprise, when I opened the door, they were standing there with a roll a way bed!! The staff were so nice and accommodating. I was so happy they were able to get an extra bed for our stay. I was very pleased with our room and both beds were very comfortable. Thanks for caring and making our stay pleasant!

It was a wonderful experience, however, there was one issue with the hotel booking service. I booked the hotel using the 800 number and requested the IBM discount. My customer, who was billed for my stay, later asked why the IBM discount is more expensive than the standard Internet booking fee. When I stay at other Crowne Plaza hotels, the IBM discount is a discount. This could result in my customer requesting that I stay in a different hotel on my next trip.

I had been priority club member for over 10 years now and this is first time , i found a single place to have so many issues
Several issues with the property and maintenance in otherwise flourishing location.
- Hard to find electric outlets for iron
- Empty space under console for refrigerator and microwave
- Keep rubbing your hands under water, soap would not come out as water is too Soft , lacks minerals
- Room keys are a joke, technician had to open my room 2 times in 4 days stay and replacement keys every day
- Squeaky elevator
- Asked room service to fix a refrigerator, but it made so much white noise that i had to unplug it in middle of the night
- Poor sound isolation, can hear my neighboring rooms clear
On plus side staff is very attentive and internet speed was excellent
Will think twice before booking Crowne Plaza again

I am a platinum member with IHG and I will say this property needs to be updated. I have stayed in many of the Holiday Inn & Suites lately and I would rate them much higher. I am paying the same prices and even less sometimes. I understand this property is older, but if Crown Plaza is going to keep it's higher status in the IHG family, something needs to be done at this location.

I thought all hotels had refrigerators in them so I was disappointed that my room did not. Also the room key stopped working several times. This happened to everyone as we were all waiting in line to get another one. Didn't appreciate having to do that as I was at a seminar and received short breaks that I had to use to stand in line for a new key

This is a nice hotel, but it is extremely complicated to navigate. I was there 2 nights and still don't understand the layout of the place. Conference rooms are excellent and there is abundant parking. Room service for morning breakfast was right on time. A housekeeper came to the door early on, but I told her that I would be leaving the room in half an hour. She never came back.

This hotel dissapointed me. I returned to my room at 5:45 pm on a Monday and found my room not made up.
I called the front desk and was told that this has been happening recently.
After several comments I was offered a drinks voucher!!!
I went to the Executive Club and there the lady in charge started phoning to sort it out. The staff in the Executive Club were very helpful and welcoming.
The treadmills were also not working in the correct manner.
I expect more from a Crowne Plaza

I have stayed here numerous times but was put in a stinky room and outside/inside noise kept me up all night,I checked out at 0145 because I could not sleep and I asked the deslk manager for an email explaining why service, room conditions, and acceptance of high noise levels after midnight was tolerated

I've stayed at other IHG properties in the area and this is the best so-far. The hotel is on the older side, but for the most part, it's updated. The lighting is a little dim in the hallways and the doors (especially the bathroom door) look like they could use a facelift or replacement.
The room was clean and well furnished. The HVAC unit was noisy, but kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The bathroom fixtures were very nice and seemed high-quality.
The room was clean overall, but I did see some stray hairs in the bathroom that didn't belong to me. The linens and towels were all clean and in good shape.
The staff was friendly, including the concierge lounge staff. The concierge lounge was a great feature. I will definitely make this hotel my first choice when I'm in the area.

Very friendly staff...from the front desk to housekeeping, restaurant to maintenance. Dinner - nice atmosphere, great service, good food and reasonable prices.
Breakfast...grabbed menu and sat ourselves. Friendly server, good food...high priced menu (breakfast costs more than dinner? No yogurt?, No oatmeal?, No fruit cup? Disappointing.)

The staff went above and beyond helping and accommodating my family gathering which was for my mother's funeral.
Housekeeping however was a different story. Sheets did not get changed when I requested them to do so. Glasses not replaced. Ice bucket not emptied. Empty glasses from bar not removed.
Other than housekeeping, I would highly recommend this hotel.

I knew going in that this was an older hotel - as I have stayed there in past years . . . but we booked it because I knew the pool area was nice and would be a good winter getaway for my daughter. Unfortunately, upon arrival, a large party had already taken over most of the pool area and they occupied the gathering space all night - propping doors open, playing loud music, and making it difficult to move through the space. The staff did nothing about this.
We decided to eat in the restaurant rather than going out as it was very cold - and the service was TERRIBLE. The waitress was not familiar with the menu and the food, when it finally arrived, was unimpressive. The appetizers were bland and did not come with enough bread for the amount of dip and we were told that we couldn't have any more. The veg served with the meal came cold and the salmon came without the sauce. Other people in our party had cold, bland nachos as an appetizer. The dessert was the only redeeming part of the meal. The breakfast buffet the next morning was cold and rubbery.
The rooms were fine - nothing spectacular and did not have mini fridges or microwaves.
I'm not sure that I would be a repeat customer - just overall an unimpressive stay.

We had 10 people for dinner, some of the dinner was cold, if we go next year, we would skip the dinner and just go for the party which was great! They had great entertainment and great food!

What can i say? I felt like I was sleeping on the side of a hill, I constantly had to re-position myself to keep from rolling into the large divet in the mattress. We stayed 2 nights, I complained about the mattresses and they gladly moved me across the hall to a room that had the exact same worn out mattresses as the first room. They really need to spend some money on new mattresses.

Were guest for a graduation event in one of the Banquet Rooms. I was very pleased with the facility. Everyone was quite friendly. I appreciated being in the same place as my sleeping quarters. And i saved the Best for last...... The food was EEE-maculant!!! I would definitely recommend the Crowne Plaza to anyone.

I have stayed at this Crowne Plaza for the last 5 years, when I am working in Grand Rapids. Usually 4-5 different stays a year. Yes, this is an old and tired hotel, in desperate need of an update. Rooms do NOT have refrigerators, and are small. But the location, and staff, and Plat member lounge kept me coming back.
This was my last stay, as the staff has gone downhill with the hotel. Front desk check in was not only slow (reserved room 2 days in advance and they had nothing ready) Girl at check in was too busy chewing what looked like a one of those huge gumballs, to speak clearly, no recognition as a plat member. Lady running lounge did nothing but complain about her personal life (do I really want to hear this when I am trying to relax?)
The room, this must be the last place that does not have a fridge in every room, toliet barely worked, toliet/shower portion of bathroom is so tight, you have to snake around door to access shower. Basically, the rooms have not chanved, but the staff has. I will be trying the HIE across the street next time that is newer and gets great reviews.
