Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staybridge - Kalamazoo I am a platinum IHG member that spends 2-4 nights a week in hotel. The Kalamazoo location was probably one of the worst Staybridges I have stayed in, even though it is steps above other hotel chains. Previous guest used small shampoo bottle still in shower area, appeared to be a blood smear (1"x2") on shower curtain, shower curtain had a 4" tear where the shear fabric met the solid shower curtain, and the doors had a lot of dust where the square panel inlays are. Just did not seem as clean and well kept as other Staybridges I have stayed at. April 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overall experience Excellent rating with the exception of room comfort. We could not control the heat in our room. It was either too hot or too cold. We were told because it was an electric heater the coils had to cool down after being on.but the cold air stayed on for several hours making it very uncomfortable. Other than that, excellent stay, very homey. April 3, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 2 night stay I love staying at Staybridges and try to seek then out. However, my last two says at the Kalamazoo hotel have been uncharacteristically less than pleasant. Both times the ice machine didn't work in my room (yes, I turned it on when I got there). And when I called the front desk, they said my option was to come downstairs and get it. I was kind of shocked he didn't offer to bring it up so I didn't have to come down at midnight in my pajamas. Then someone's puppy barked all night (not your fault, but still unpleasant and I wished at 6 am it would've been taken care of). March 31, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the best hotel experiences I've had. This past weekend, I had 24 high school jazz band students participating in the Western Michigan University Jazz Festival. We are from Illinois and stayed over Saturday night at the Staybridge Suites. We couldn't have asked for more. When we arrived, the front desk staff had all the room keys ready along with two copies of the rooming lists for our chaperones and a big plate of chocolate chip cookies for the students. Prior to our arrival, one of the staff members had taken the time to look up our school logo and school colors and included it on signs taped to each one of our ten rooms. They also allowed us to use their boardroom for a pizza party and assured us they would clean up after us. The rooms and the hotel were super clean and comfortable and the kids had some fun pool time in a very nice pool area. The front office staff kept asking us if we needed anything and on my way down the elevator on the morning we left, one of the housekeepers asked me how I enjoyed my stay and was genuinely pleased to see that I was happy with everything. The free full breakfast was very good and included those great waffle makers and some other hot foods. During our stay, we didn't encounter a single unfriendly face. What a great experience. I will definitely look for Staybridge on my next trip. March 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceptional room at an excellent price I stayed here to visit with my daughter who is a student at WMU. I usually stay at a different hotel, but decided to try something different. I am so glad I did! This hotel is closer, nicer and cheaper. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the quiet clean room. I thought I may need to stay an additional night due to the snow storm, and the staff assured me they would reserve my room and gave to additional hours to decided if I should stay in K-Zoo and wait out the storm or drive back home as originally planned This allowed me to enjoy the day with my daughter without fretting about the drive home. The location of the hotel was more convenient, the room was nicer and the price was cheaper and included breakfast. I will be back to this hotel every time I come to visit my daughter. March 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always good I always stay here when I visit Kalamazoo. Great staff, great room, great value. March 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed This was my first time staying at a Staybridge establishment. The hotel was awesome. The room was excellent. The beds were awesome. I definitely plan on staying there whenever I am in Kalamazoo. However, there were two deficiencies that stood out as well. We requested pillows and blankets from the staff for the pull out sofa, but they never brought them. We were also a little disappointed that there was no bacon on the breakfast menu. But all in all, it was a wonderful stay. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Peace and quiet After a snowy drive into Kalamazoo, it was a pleasure to check into Staybridge for some peace and quiet. Our suite was huge, comfortable, and very quiet. We loved it. February 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unclean facility and unkind staffs I have been regular for this place for my work. I ended up cancelling for the rest of the days of my recent stay, and will not come back to this place again. Even though always not felt very welcoming here, I have used this place for my own convenience. - One night in a few days of stay in the hotel room, I ended up seeing a cylinder shaped white matter twice bigger than my whole thumb in the floor at the bedside toward the window. I picked it up and found that it was a piece of bone. What a feeling at night to see a bone fragment. After further looking around, I found another much bigger leg bone with fist size end at the bottom of the bed. It was disgusting and very creepy night. Considering that the room was cleaned out during my stay, I doubt the way they clean out the room. - The front desk person was extremely unkind. I requested a favor of changing the room type on the rest of the stay. Also, I asked to provide a convenience of moving the room without checking out and in again, so that I do not need to get all my stuff carrying with me. He just stared at me, and asked, 'Who are you?'. On further conversation, he was adamant on checking out and in again, and showed no intention of providing convenience. There was no way that people in this place did not recognize me as a hotel customer, as I have been in this place so many times and so many nights. Even though he did not recognize me, that was not just the way to respond to the hotel guest or to-be-guest. - I should say that overall the staffs in this facility is far from kind or friendly. I never met a person who say hi to me, by front desk person, in eating area, or by cleaning person. When I use StayBridge in other places, the experience is different. Experiencing dirty room and surrounded by unfriendly staffs, I do not recommend this place to stay. January 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and comfortable beds My son and I were stuck in Kalamazoo due to a snow storm and severely cold temps. We were staying at this hotel and I am glad we were stranded here!!! The staff and the manager went above and beyond for all the guest!!! The manager and staff were outside scraping and shoveling out cars parked in handicapp. The room was nice and beds very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel!! January 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by enjoyable stay Very friendly staff. Not enough room for breakfast during busy time, but it was a good start to the day. The kitchen gals kept everything filled and were exceptionally friendly. The room space ample and clean. Our biggest disappointment was the manager did not honor the posted online price through our travel agent (which turned out to be a mistake) after the reservation and payment was made. Overall a well kept property with great staff. January 2, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great facilities, mediocre cleaning Rooms are beautiful and staff at front desk and breakfast area very helpful. The pool was also very nice - I appreciated it was open early so we could start each day with the kids well exercised. Unfortunately, the cleaning staff did a very poor job with the room. Upon returning to the room one day, I found garbage strewn across the floor. I realized they had dragged a broken garbage bag behind them and never did a final check on the room. The next day, I was amazed to find a pile of dirty towels by the door to our room (but inside the room) and they had not replaced the towels they piled in our living space. Apparently, no one cares enough to check the room before they leave it. Our room literally would have been cleaner if they had never come in and just had us replace our own towels. I will likely give this hotel one more try, but am pretty disappointed. It was a part of our annual Christmas tradition, but might try another place next year. January 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room room was clean and comfortable. Great improvement over our Thanksgiving stay which was a disaster. December 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent place to stay Staying at the Staybridge Suites in Kalamazoo is a very pleasant, quiet way to spend the night and morning. My room was spacious and comfortable. The heating unit was very quiet with the thermostat control on the wall. There were a lot of choices for breakfast, including fluffy scrambled eggs, bacon and cut up fruit----all served on plates and silverware----not paper and plastic. I highly recommend this hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always a thrill Great staff. I always look forward to staying at the Staybridge in Kalamazoo. October 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fall trip to Kalamazoo We booked our stay for the first weekend in October, traveling to Kalamazoo Mi. For a wedding.we were in and out of our room all weekend, one of the mornings we enjoyed the (included) breakfast bar, which was more than we expected! Our room was very comfortable and clean and the hotel staff was helpful beyond our expectations! We would choose this property again the next time we venture to Kalamazoo Mi. October 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Impeccable facility and staff We could not have been more impressed with everything at this facility. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Our stay in Staybridge Kalamazoo As a family of 4, we were very apprehensive about spending 3 weeks in an extended stay hotel. How would we survive? I have to admit it was very easy. The Staybridge Kalamazoo's suite was nicely laid out and the extra space in the lounge area and the library allowed for us to have quiet time. The staff were unbelievably friendly - welcoming us by name every time we walked through the main door. The breakfast buffet and dinners were beyond my expectation considering they were included in the very fair rate. I give this hotel 2 big thumbs up! September 23, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A weekend in Kalamazoo ... This morning I told the young lady at the desk I was very pleased with the accommodations and hospitality. My stay was very pleasant and relaxing. I will be staying there again, the next time I am in Kalamazoo, Mi. Thank you, everyone, who worked this past weekend!! September 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice location for family reunion Staff were all helpful and personable. The property has a nice outdoor courtyard. August 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by housekeeping I made a special request at front desk noting that I wanted my bathroom sink and toilet cleaned every day. Not only was this not done, my room was not even cleaned, beds made, clean towels or trash emptied. for one of the two days (3 nights) I stayed there. We did not know this until later in the evening when my husband had to go get towels so that we could wash up for the night and next morning. We had to use the toilet and sink that were not cleaned. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel! The suites are modern, spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. August 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Families We stay here frequently when visiting my son and his family. This time we stayed in a 2 room suite as there were no 1 bedroom suites available. It was large and spacious. Bedroom one had a large bathroom, a closet, a chair, and a queen size bed. Bedroom 2 had a standard bathroom, a closet, a desk, and 2 queen beds. Plenty of room for everyone. The room was clean. The breakfast is amazing, many healthy choices. The courtyard is a great place to relax. Staff is always friendly. August 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The BEST! It was just a one-night stay to say farewell to a friend moving away. We had a party for her and decided to make it an overnight. The room was fantastic and totally spotless! There was plenty of room for us to socialize and chat and the kitchen was awesome for serving our snacks. Breakfast in the morning was the best I've ever had at a hotel. I highly recommend this hotel! August 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lovely suite, kitchenette I love the fact that you offer a snack, well it's more than a snack more like a dinner from 5:30-7:30. It's just perfect. I also loved the fact that we had a barbecue in the courtyard. It was so nice and homey. Wonderful stay and would recommend your property to anyone who is going to Kalamazoo!! August 1, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Hospitality and Safety Services Unfortunately, we stayed at this Staybridge during a thunderstorm in Kalamazoo on 07/19/2013. Within 10 minutes of the storm coming through, the hotel lost power. Understandably, a storm is an act-of-God. However, there was power for all business directly across the parking lot and up and down the main street. The power went out shortly after 11:00 p.m. and until we checked out the next morning, there was no interaction with the hotel staff. The emergency lighting in the hallways did not stay on for an extended amount of time, making it almost impossible to find our way out of the building to the stairways. There was no lighting in the rooms. With the small flashlight we had in our bag, we searched the room for emergency lighting, of which there was none. The phones were not working, so a call to the front desk was not possible. The hotel is supposed to have a great breakfast buffet. It was assumed this would not be available; however, there wasn't even coffee or juice in the lobby. There is a grocery store just a few doors away and 3 chain coffee shops, which sell carry-out containers of coffee, within a couple blocks of the hotel. All of these businesses had power. It would have been easy for the hotel staff to offer a little more hospitality to their guests. Better hospitality, with a check on guests' safety, and a possible emergency light in the rooms would have made the stay much better. The one fortunate aspect is that the hotel windows do open. With the temperature in the 90s that week, the hotel would have been unbearable without ventilation. At checkout, we asked if there was any rebate on our stay or discount for a future Staybridge stay. The man at the desk said the hotel is not responsible for an act-of-God and there would be no assistance except possibly finding a room for us in another hotel in K’zoo if we were staying another night. Then he indicated that with the phones out, he didn’t know how much they could do. We were truly amazed that the hotel had no backup power generator to keep the emergency lights going until all guests had exited the building the following morning. The exit signs were so dim they were barely visible in the hallways. We were also amazed at how unaccommodating and/or concerned the staff seemed to be regarding guest safety. With so many hotels in K’zoo, this will be our one-and-only stay to this location. July 28, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Storm & Power Loss There was a storm and power loss. They allowed us to use the room, however, with no lights, no power we could not really use any of the facilities. Except the bed. No hot water, no air cond., toilets did flush , if you could find them in the dark. There was no breakfast service. The only reason for the poor ratings was the lack of managements interest to provide some level of compensation. It is understandable that a storm has an impact. I would also expect some compensation and fully expect they will turn in some type of claimto insurance. Thus -- they will be compensated by the insurance company, but nothing has been passed along to the customers. I have entered a complaint to corporate -- and hope management will come through with some type of compensation. Again -- I undertsnad there was a storm, however, many businesses have generators to provide basic services llike lighting, heated water, etc.... July 25, 2013
