We stayed at this property while visiting our son in NY and it was the perfect location for our needs. We enjoyed being so close to all of the major sites in the city and it truely made our visit more enjoyable, even the weekend after the major storm - SANDY hit the area. Our hearts went out to the city that it took such a beating, but it seemed to come back to somewhat normal. The locals indicated they were half way back and would need more time to heal.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jmg09 Good hotel - great service
The hotel is a short walk from Times Square. Rooms are small (no smaller than a typical hotel in the area), but clean. The staff was outstanding! Really enjoyed our stay.
Disappointed in customer service from Priority Club, but that has nothing to do with this particular hotel. It was excellent.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WesternNY Perfect location and great value
I recently stayed two nights at this hotel. The staff is excellent. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The lobby is a little tight in space but it is a "express" hotel. We will be back.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Idaho6460 Nice people, close to everything, good food
We stayed one week and were pleased with our choice of Holiday Inn Express. We always choose HIE and wasn't sure how NYC would compare...it was nice. You just remember NYC puts everything in small spaces. If we asked for anything we had it fast and with no questions and always a smile. Breakfast was just as in any HIE we have stayed at. Husband loved the pancake machine. Walking distance to lots...subway to everything else.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Petal Take your earplugs!
Pros: Comfortable bed, great view (36th floor), good choice at breakfast, friendly staff, good location for sights, clean room.
Cons: noisy fan in bathroom, if you are on one of the floors with vending and ice-very noisy, constant "clunking" from the lift was very annoying at night, mass scrum at breakfast no matter what time you are there, room very small for three, iron and ironing board in wardrobe left very little space for clothes!
Conclusion: Take your earplugs if you are a light sleeper ( the fan in the bathroom was noisier than the jet engine that flew me there). Okay for the time we were there but would choose something a bit more expensive next time to get more room and a bit more comfort.

Survived Sandy - Staff were exemplary in their dedication to keeping the hotel operational making our experience safe one - the storm an inconvenience and not an impact
Room comfortable and facilities good - shower etc, bed comfortable. Breakfast could be crowded but plenty of food and always fresh.
All staff extremely friendly and helpful - would go there again

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DandE Great service during the storm
From the moment we arrived until our departure the staff was very accomodating and friendly. The staff serving breakfast did an excellent job keeping up with all of the guests and always with a smile on their face. We had an extended stay in NYC due to hurricane Sandy. Each time we had another flight cancelled the hotel was able to accommodate another nights stay. Our last night the hotel was scheduled to be over booked but Alex assured us he would do everything he could for us. I woke up to find the bill under our door and figured we would be sleeping at the airport. But Alex came through for us! The concierge got us a great deal on tickets for a broadway show and dinner for our last night. He also arranged private transportation to the airport due to the taxi shortage. I would definitely stay here again. The location is great and the staff is awesome!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Claygirl Great first impression of NYC
We were impressed with the friendly staff and excellent accomodations for our two night stay and first visit to NYC. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The "free" breakfast was exceptional. Concierge Rafael was most helpful with suggestions, directions, and obtaining theater tickets.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ExperiencedSandy Hurricane Able
We were caught in Manhattan by Hurricane Sandy but the responses to our needs by the HI staff of the 210-room hotel--from Jaime at front desk to Murati in guest services--were tailor-made for the stresses brought on by Nature. The HI housekeeping provided everything we asked and the room was expertly taken care of, the breakfasts were hot and plentiful and served with good cheer, and when we were able to make our escape, a car we requested was ready on time. Kudos HIExpress.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Newbie Could not be more accommodating
The manager Frank and his staff made our stay a comfortable and attentive one! We had overnight accommodations for our team of 18. We were doing the AVON WALK for Breast Cancer on Saturday 10/21. Although breakfast was scheduled for 7am Frank made sure we started our event right with a "breakfast to go" bag for each team member. During the evening we chose to stay in for dinner and use the breakfast area. The staff was so attentitive and helpful in meeting our needs. We loved every minute of our stay and will be sure to revisit in the future.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MintaroSA Small but convenient
I had 5 nights at the Holiday Express Times Square last week and highly recommend it. First impressions were of a small, crowded foyer, but this was soon overcome by the friendly & helpful staff. Two of the three Concierges I had dealings with were charming and helpful, the other not so friendly. My room was very comfortable with all the amenities required, and the breakfasts were excellent, with a good variety of food. The all day availability of tea & coffee was great, especially when coming in at night after a show - as a non coffee drinker the tea and hot chocolate was very welcome. Also the computers available for internet for those without their own. The hotel is in good walking distance from Broadway shows, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for evening meals. It is good to be made aware that bookings for shows etc attract a brokerage fee, so it is better to make one's own arrangements. This is true for any hotel, not just the Holiday Inn. I had a wonderful time in NY, and the hotel contributed to my enjoyment.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sue45 Great staff!
The room was small but had most things you need. The bed and pillows were the best we had on our holiday.
The staff were terrific, very friendly and helpfull indeed!
Hated the plastic plates, knives, forks and spoons in the breakfast room, as well as the cups in the room. The breakfast room was very over-crowded and not the best experience.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ruby Great staff, great location
This hotel is ideally located and the prices, although high, are good for Manhattan. Our first bed was very hard and the AC unit was very loud, but the staff moved us and our second room was great. The staff was very helpful and good to work with. The WiFi and the free breakfasts are a great bonus and we made good use of both of them. We did have some problems with the smoke detector - it was "fixed" twice but still went off later, once at 2:45am. We've stayed there before and would stay again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by oldtimer no shower curtain
There was no shower curtain in the bathroom. Unfortunately, I did not discover this until I tried to take shower in the morning. I was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to request a shower curtain or another room. It seems to me that the hotel should check something as basic as this.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by AlejandroC No parece un Holiday Inn

good bed, linens. Great sightseeing and theater location. Around the corner from Port Authority. Safe and secure. Halls upstairs are quite narrow, but room size is average for NYC. Clean. Nice to have a refrig for cold drinks. Good value for the price.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by manahm67 Room Too Small
I stayed in two queen bedroom with my wife and two toddlers. The room was very small and even though we did not stay much in the room it was crowded with all the furniture and our luggage and we didn't even have much luggage with us.
Staff was OK but not super friendly. Price we paid did not reflects the quality provided.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Roma Elevator and refrigerator/microwave
Only two elevators. So, when the hotel is full, it's too slow. And one of them broke in a period. Conclusion, we had to down the stairs and to up, we had a long wait.
We usually bought food to eat in the room, if we had a microwave to heat the food, it'll be great. And a refrigerator for cokes, mineral water and fruits.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mark63020 Wonderful hotel in perfect location
I spent 4 nights at this hotel in October of 2012. The hotel was very friendly to deal with the the front desk staff went above and beyond what they had to do to make sure I was happy. The room was the ideal size with a great via. The temperature controls worked great as I have had issues at other hotels with the thermostats. Overall the hotel was a great location and the property was great. I will be returning to this property in the future.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sydney1015 Great staff, would stay again, just small water issue.
The people could not have been nicer. the room size was just fine for New York. Clean and good location.
The shower pressure was not that good and the hot water should be hotter, but that was the only downside.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Harry9 Efficient Front Desk Staff
Front office staff were friendly and efficient. Was able to drop luggage at the front desk for storage. However, at the price of this room, I expect excellent all-round service. Room was not vacuumed over the two days. All trash cans were not emptied. Cleaning supplies were left on the bathroom counter. Think I will try another place on the next trip. Did not utilize the breakfast service.

First we had to wait long time for the elevator, only one was in order, just to find out that the room we got was not ready.
Back to waiting for the elevator to get down to the lobby. Although requesting a new room wasn't too bad, we had a long wait again for the elevator. It was a nightmare awaiting to get up or down. Not a nice experience.

When we got there to check in, neither of our 2 rooms were ready. About 15 minutes later, one was ready but it took another hour before the 2nd was ready. Then, the following morning, one of the 2 elevators was broken. People were waiting upwards of 30 minutes to get from their room to the lobby. People were also walking 40 flights of steps in order to leave the hotel. They didn't offer us anything after both of those experiences so I will never ever stay here again.0

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Heideeho Small room and noisy air conditioner
A small room and a noisy air conditioner makes a good night sleep difficult. Check in was hassle free; without sounding like a misogynist , service from the male staff was excellent generally but cant say the same for the female staff . Location was not in Times Square as advertised.
