I stay in a lot of hotels that are supposed to be mid-range. This one is one of the worst. The room smelled smokey/old. The AC did not work well. The towels shed everywhere. The staff was nice, but that isn't enough to bring me back.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Worst Holiday Inn EVER
We attended a graduation ceremony at the San Jose Airport hotel and stayed for two nights. The check-in desk clerk was curt and we later found that she had failed to give us important information about the hotel. Other staff would incredulously ask us, "didn't they tell you that when you checked in?". Ummm, no.
The room, especially the bathroom, was shoddily updated some time in the past and just let go.
The hotel charges for parking in the lot around the hotel and has a gate system that confused many people. We found ourselves sitting behind cars blocking the exit as the drivers tried to figure out if they were allowed to leave or not.
The area around the hotel consists of bail bonds offices and liquor stores. It is also a food desert on the weekends since most restaurants only open during M-F business hours. We had to drive far from the hotel to find restaurants, which turned out okay since we NEVER FELT SAFE anywhere around the hotel.
The only staff member that was helpful and considerate was the bartender/waiter (the restaurant room itself was CLOSED for some odd reason) who took our dinner order one night. The punchline is that he wasn't actually a hotel employee but works for the catering company that has the bar franchise.
I am leaving out a lot of negatives but I can summarize by saying that I see this hotel being torn down within 3 years. Avoid if possible.

It seems as if the rooms are designed for one occupant. If one has to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, the light switch turns on the light over the sink too. This, of course, wakes up the person who did not need to use the restroom.
Also, there is no fan in the shower part of the bathroom! This creates a steamy and unpleasant environment. I can't imagine it does the building any good either!
How nice it would have been to be able to open a window!
I thought the food served at the two Native Daughter luncheons was really bad. It was also extremely slow in coming,

Room was nice. Housekeeping was on par. Staff at registration were wonderful. Bartender ignored us while we waited for 15 minutes. We left.

Very high crime in the area. Car was broken into. Manager staff did not really care, just wanted to be cleared of responsibility.

We only stayed at the hotel as it is the facility used by MEPS. We would never stay there again by choice.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed at ever, and I've travelled a LOT. The room has numerous unique (and somewhat costly I'm sure) design features that really make this hotel stand out. One of the most comfortable beds I've slept in, too.
My only complaint is that the reservations operator did not mention the 13 dollar daily parking fee until I asked her about it. It does not show up on your online hotel reservation as an add-on cost on-line either (although you learn about it if you click on the '"terms of rate"' link of the reservation).
Even with the fee, the rate beats other hotels in the area significantly.

i had a theft at the laundry area on premises and the GM still has not contacted me 11 days after the theft to personally apologized for the experience. Very poor service skills, especially since durning the whole stay they were trying to get a 10 rating across the board. This theft took away from the working staff that were very nice during the stay. I have been left with a complete negative experience as of today for lack of contacting me....

I stayed at this location because I was attending a conference a couple of blocks away. Holiday Inn was outstanding with everything I needed. The room was comfy and clean and staff very accommodating. If the room had a fridge and a microwave, I would have given a 5 star rating. Try out the Cajun shrimp appetizer at the restaurant - delicious!

We arrived late night but still received a warm and
friendly greeting. Breakfast the next morning was
fast and good even giving us a morning paper to read.
Ride to and from the airport was prompt with a
very friendly driver.

Don't waste your time and money on this one, stay in the one down the road who will give you breakfast! ALso the front desk staff was incredibly rude when I called to ask about the construction noise, she rudely stated it was declared on the website....well thats fine and dandy except I booked through IHG rewards line and didn't go on their website at all! No one notified me of that or I would have stayed in the one down the street who was $6 more to have peace and quiet and a breakfast!
Also I overheard a walk in customer who got a rate $10 cheaper than mine booked straight through IHG.

Best hotel in San jose. It's close to the city and the airport, food establishments, train, etc. Clean room with some renovations going on at the time. I'm sure that will completed soon.

The hotel was nice, but we've had much better experience with Holiday Inn Express vs. the traditional Holiday Inn, which tends to cost more, is usually older, and does not include the breakfast. It was Memorial Day Weekend, so maybe that is why there appeared to be a skeleton staff, who were slow to respond or didn't get things done at all. The restaurant was supposed to be open, but wasn't. We just didn't feel they provided the services expected of a hotel of this type. (First time I have ever written a complaint about a Holiday Inn stay!

This is the only place we stay when in the Bay Area - it is convenient to everywhere we want to go in every direction of the compass. The staff is so courteous, they even get to know your names as you walk around the property. Front office people are so very helpful in assisting you in every way possible, whether it is a request for something at the hotel, checking in & out, locations of places, directions to get where you have to go, knowing the best routes (saves time) , pool assistance, even parking situations. The rooms are always kept in tip top shape with ammenities and cleanliness, and are always set to "let the sun come in" after we return from an outing, even if it is just for breakfast. They are very good, quick, and efficient. I am a 20 yr veteran of an upscale hotel, and this property ranks as a "Five Star" hotel in everything that they offer. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone at any time because I know they will agree that it is a great place to stay, whether it be for pleasure, business, or stop over.

I would not recommend this hotel. First, for rate charged, guests should NOT be charged additional parking fee. I understand charging parking for restaurant guests. Was not aware of an incremental parking charge prior to my arrival. It's on the website, but I did not see it when making my reservation. Second, there were no towels in the room on my first morning. Didn't realize that until I got out of the shower. Dried off with the hand towels. Third, to my surprise, I woke the 2nd morning wondering who was in my shower. The showerhead started dripping fast when my neighbor was taking a shower. As this was my first trip to San Jose, and I'll be making more, I'll certainly be looking for other accomodations. Not the Holiday Inn experience I've received at other Holiday Inns in other parts of the country I've stayed at.

I stayed for one night with my husband. Our room was so comfortable we didn't want to leave. The bed and linens were top quality. The bathroom was nicely decorated and plenty big. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast. Really liked our server and the food was yummy!
We used the pool area. It was nice but we really wish they had a jacuzzi.

I decided to take my wife and daughter on a little staycation and choose this hotel, since it was close to many of my favorite restaurants. The hotel was busy when we arrived for check-in. (There was a Latin Concert in the ballroom that night) There were a total of three front desk people working so the line moved fast. I was disappointed at check-in for a couple of reasons:
1) There was not a separate line for Priority Club Members.
2) I was not recognized as a Priority Club Member at Check-In (Even though I did see the little gift bags on the floor that were ready to give out)
I guess I am spoiled from the way that I have been treated at most other IHG hotels (I travel for business frequently)
The restaurant was spot-on with excellent service and good food at a reasonable price. My 11 year old daughter went as far as saying that this restaurant was her favorite steak house!
Another drawback to our stay was the fact the there was an issue with the water pressure the morning of our checkout. The front desk said it was not the hotel and it wa San Jose city that was the problem. It was just frustrating for us to try to get ready for the party that we were attending without decent water / pressure in the shower.
Other than that, they did a nice job with the renovations, but I would probably choose another hotel in the area on my next stay in San Jose.

We stayed twice and both were good. We arrived late and there was a very loud party going on in our hallway. I called the desk at 11:30 and security calmed things down to where we could go to sleep. Nice job.

The hotel is an average Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are decent, but there are a few issues:
1. Parking is expensive and a pain in the butt.
2. The breakfast is not very good for the price. They serve the same thing on the buffet everyday.
3. Room was loud, but staff was good about allowing us to switch rooms to a room in the corner.
4. Some shady characters hang out around the hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay at this Hoiday Inn. I was so looking forward to getting away and relaxing and... this was perfect. The newly remodeled room was great. The bed and bedding was so comfortable I just fell right to sleep. No street noise to distract me!
The front desk checked me in promptly and with a smile!
I wished they had a jacuzzi but their pool area is nice and big.

Stayed here during St. Patrick's day weekend. We were greeted by friendly staff that checked us in, they even gave us complimentary bottled water and cookies! The lounge and lobby area were clean and quite inviting. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Flat screen TV, comfortable bed, nice over sized settee and ottoman.
I noticed the light was blinking on our in-room telephone and what a pleasant surprise when I heard a recorded greeting from the hotel manager, I believe his name was Gary. We were exhausted after our long drive into San Jose, and it was nice to hear the manager say they care about our stay and wanted to make sure we had a great experience. Now, that's customer service!
The next morning we headed to the hotel restaurant and had a wonderful breakfast, again...friendly, outgoing staff that took care of our every need and super yummy food! We had mid day coffees in the lobby area, where there are lovely flat screen TV's and comfortable/stylish seating. Later that evening we sipped a few cocktails in the bar and had friendly conversations with the bartender.
The decor is stylish and up-to-date in this hotel, the staff are amazing, the rooms are clean and super comfortable. They made our weekend retreat well worth the drive and we will definitely be back soon. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone if you're traveling to San Jose. Thanks to all the staff, keep up the good work!
