I originally booked another hotel that was 12 miles from downtown Savannah. I had to book three rooms for family and did not want to pay some of the really high prices downtown. I also would not accept cancellation penalties if cancelling more than 48 hours in advance of the reservation date. The three of us couples are retired and you never know if someone suddenly gets sick and has to cancel. We also needed to be within easy walking distance of River St.
With more research I found Staybridge Suites right downtown on Bay St and across from the steps down to River ST. Rooms with full kitchens, including ice makers, made it easy to put the six of us in one room for our happy hour. The free morning buffet breakfast and the evening Free Appetizers, Beer and Wine made for further convenience and enjoyment. (They are served Tue. thru Thur.) We wanted to try the local cuisine so we ate out all three nights and the food/service/decor was super at Garibaldi's, and A. Lure. Took the two passenger bike/taxi to all destinations. Be sure to take a tour if you have never been in Savannah. There are two different companies offering them. Lots of knowledge from the tour guides.

Charlie the concierge was so very pleasant and helpful. He made calls for us and gave us great advice as well as booking tours for us. He provided directions and told us about the tall ship being in port.

If i returned, I wold ask for a room away from the main road. There was lots of road noise throughout the whole day, including the night.
Hotel is located in a perfect spot for exploring the historic area of Savanna, and close to shops and trollies.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hoppa room not ready
room was not ready for check in. I asked for a smoke free and pet
free room. I was told the 4th floor was pet free not so. Many dogs
were there on the 4th floor. barking dog on the 3rd floor kept us up
half the night. I will not stay there again.

ok.. a couple of negatives.. No ESPN!! Need a better cable package.
- wireless internet needs better stability
Now the positives.. fabulous staff at every level-
wonderful breakfasts and manger's cocktail party- freshly made food in their own kitchen-
Great location in the historic district
nice office area for business
pay parking behind hotel (tough to find close on street parking nearby)
I will be back
