Comfortable bed a block from the beach
By Joe P
I stayed here for two nights with a friend of mine. The room was up to date and the beds were comfortable. There was a balcony which we found ourselves relaxing in the evening time. The parking lot [More] had security which was nice. My only gripe was the hotel was under construction and there were construction materials and workshops all over the place. [Less]
Convenient location and decent room
By Roberto
Came to town for an early doctor appointment. Hotel was available on short notice and very convenient to his office and some good area restaurants. Room was spacious and nice with a small balcony [More] with a sliding door so we could get fresh air with some privacy and relative quiet. Bathroom was small and had no towels racks to hang towels on. Bathtub did not drain well when showering. Bed was comfortable. Price was competitive for the area. [Less]
A very good hotel
By sophiezimm
This hotel has so many great things going for it... fresh baked cookies in the evenings, great pool, free beach towels, clean rooms, great staff, good breakfast, awesome location near the beach and a [More] short walk to lots of shopping and the farmers market. A few let downs: the bed was very sunken in the centre, the breakfast was advertised to have bacon, but only had bacon on one out of the five mornings we were there. The pool area was open at 9am but the hot tub was still cool at that time, and often ran out of towels. Overall, if we are ever in the area again, we will definitely go back and stay at this hotel!!! Would stay again forsure

We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. Service was excellent. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Kids really enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was very good. Lots to choose from. The kitchen [More] staff worked very hard to make sure breakfast room was clean and food was always refilled. The free shuttle was so helpful. Happy hour and free cookies were great to end our long day visiting around San deigo!! [Less]
Little gem in downtown San Diego
By EsmeInFrance
Pleasantly surprised to find such a smartly renovated Holiday Inn Express in the middle of town. All the familiar comforts of my favorite hotel chain but new design has a great contemporary feel. I [More] was early and the staff was able to get me into a room - what a relief after hours of flying! Generous happy hour for guests topped off the evening and I went to bed with a smile on my face. Very clean - great value for the dollar. I'll be back {3 [Less]
Friendly staff
By CV123
I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express Hotels. The San Diego Downtown is a great location to walk to restaurants and the waterfront. The shuttle service to and from the airport and area [More] attractions is a huge plus for this hotel. ALL the staff we encountered, from the reception desk, shuttle driver, and happy hour hostess were friendly and welcoming. Staff made a positive difference at this hotel to make guests feel welcome.
