Wonderful Facility
By HaPPars
After a 3 day stay in Kirkwood, MO at competitor hotel, this was HEAVEN. The staff at the Knoxville-Strawberry Plains hotel greeted us by name and made us feel like we were home. The Front desk clerk [More] could see how tired we were from the drive and completed our check-in in minutes. He directed us to our room with great instructions from the parking lot [Less]
Nice hotel
By nancynat21
We stopped here on our way home from vacation. It was a nice hotel. Even though they were in the middle of renovation it was still clean and quiet. I would return to this hotel if ever in the area [More] again. Due to our dietary issues we did not eat so I am unable to speak to their breakfasts. [Less]
HOT weekend stay
By ddoga
The stay at HIE was convenient for us as we were attending a wedding weekend at the Stables which was about 5 minutes away. It made it easy to come and go with the little ones. It was nice, clean and [More] although they were remodeling, the noise was minimal. The downside to this visit was the night time when we would come in, bathe and get into bed. The AC would kick off and stay off for quite some time, causing us all to sweat. The control would not allow us to lower the air so that it would be cooler. This caused for 2 sleepless nights for us. Having a 15 hour drive back home was not easy after not sleeping. Was happy I got to bring my dog though! [Less]

Low Key in Lenoir City
By Gnashgal
While the front desk staff was friendly, the house keeping staff was a bit lack luster. The front desk staff made up for it. There is absolutely no information about local area attractions in the [More] information file rack. Everything recommended was well over an hour away. The staff was friendly and helpful with recommending great places to eat and things to do in spare time. I was here on business so there wasn't much free time. The Mexican Restaurant literally across the drive was was decent and the staff was super friendly and entertaining. The woman who made breakfast worked her tail off and never missed a beat even while greeting the guests and remembering their names each morning--impressive. She truly loved her job and embraced it. I enjoyed watching her work the room each morning. I think I had a pea under my mattress as most Holiday Inns, I never want to get out of bed...however this particular room was a bit lacking. It may have been my work stress overriding it so I will turn the other cheek. The lobby was decorated very creatively for the holidays. I have a client that is under 10 miles from this hotel so I am looking forward to staying again. I would recommend Kuerig machines so we can bring our own coffee. The internet connection worked the first night but not the next few days. We were advised of this as we went in. It was a server issue and no fault of the hotel. I appreciated the notification. The indoor pool was fabulous and I definitely enjoyed having it to myself. With lack of information on area attractions, you do have to rely heavily on the front desk staff. [Less]

Sleep should be first priority
By MMOlderGuest
Most of the aspects of the hotel were superb or at least great. However, apparently no one checked the quality of the room air conditioner/heater operation. At first I thought it was merely a one [More] time loud noise. I was exhausted and fell asleep. Less than 3 hours later the horrific noise was louder and I could not get back to sleep. I realized I could not expect to get back to sleep any better if I called. Clearly, then, I would have to get dressed and at least not be laying on the bed. In addition, there was no guarantee that it could be fixed fast and, if it were turned off, I would not be able to sleep because of the temperature! I chose to wait to report it until that evening when I left the hotel. The check-out person was very kind and sympathetic. He noted the event for management. Unfortunately it is difficult to be happy about a hotel or motel visit when you are dead tired! By then I had also gotten a copy of the bill. It was only then that I realized that TN taxes at all 3 levels had made a relatively high bill even higher! [Less]
