The one staff member that made a difference in my stay was Brittney. She made sure to listen to my concerns and provide me with options as a solution. She was able to do that while still answering the phones and completing other tasks.

Staff leader does not talk to guests as they should

Unfriendly smart mouth staff. Charged 10 more dollars a than I was quoted. Staff leader talked and welcomed me like I had just walked into her house un announced . She was very rude when I was showing her how many times I was charged the wrong rate. Sir put your phone down I see it you don’t have to keep holding it up very rude like

Disappointing Business Stay

This Candlewood Suites needs to train their employees on how to treat customers. At least say "hi" when a customer walks by. Instead, the employees, including one of the owners, stared at customers. Let people know you are renovating your hotel before they book a room. It is bad business to do otherwise. When you are completely demolishing the floor with jackhammers, loud noises, and dust particulate matter going everyone, do not be so greedy to rent your rooms and expose customers and your poor employees to deafening sounds and dust particulate matter. The dishwasher was so loud like a train and we could not use the dishwasher when working. Also, there is no towel rack in the bathroom. The receptionist Charlita was a very rude person. She watches customers and employees like a hawk when they are getting a free cup of coffee. She did not even know that a cup of coffee was free. At the beginning, the GM Melinda was nice but during our stay she brushed off the problems we experienced due to her employees' negligence. This hotel needs to train employees not to enter someone's room when they have a "do not disturb" or "catch me later" sign. They need to train their workers to speak and understand English. Hispanic contractors entered our room even though we had the "catch me later" sign clearly displayed outside our door and they made a mess, left screws and dust and paint in our room, and messed up our bed. The Chief Engineer Edmond took matters into his own hand and decided to renovate our room and let the contractors in our room. Our stay was a nightmare. We stay at various hotels, and this Candlewood Suites in Chesapeake is by far the worst we have experienced. They do not have their ducks in a row.

The lobby and hallways were undergoing renovations. Perhaps the room we stayed in will have a future update. The beds were comfortable. The toilet was not anchored tightly to the floor. The kitchen had no forks. There was an old recliner-type chair but no sofa. Just a drab room. Acceptable, but nothing special.

This place seems to be going through renovation so I'm sure it will probably be better. But the prices were just outrageous due to the fact that so much renovation is going on at the time.

Hotel needs a major remodeling. Very outdated and no housekeeping. If you are traveling for business and your stay was booked through your work, good luck getting a receipt for expense reporting.

All staff members were very friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I liked that the personal care items were mounted in the shower. (Very nice touch) Although we didn't stay long enough to use them, I feel the kitchenette would have come in handy had we been there a week. Convenient to the Interstate. This facility does not have a continental breakfast.
