    Great Comfortable Hotel: Great Service and Value

    The Candlewood Suites Hotel in Burlington, MA is a great value hotel close to dining. I had a great experience with friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean, neat, and comfortable. The shuttle allows for ease of travel within a couple of miles of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to stay in for a short or long term stay.

    Great location, close to stores and mall. The closes Wal-Mart is about 10-12 miles away. Room was clean. Everything was supplied in the room as far as towels and wash clothes. The bed was very comfortable. The only con I have is I wish the entrance door was automatic, it was hard to get the luggage in when you have to pull the handle to get in the hotel. Housekeeping staff didn't speak much English for simple questions.

    Fabulous if you like 86 degree room temp and cold water showers!!

    Was originally booked to stay at this hotel for 11 days. Checked into the hotel on day one, staff was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Upon entering the room, I discovered the room temperature was 86 degrees. Outside temperature was 93, so I guess that's a plus! I noticed a sign above the thermostat that indicated that the room was equipped with an energy-savings system and that it knows when you leave the room and when you return. It also advised to wait approximately 15 minutes before the thermostat reaches your desired temperature. I waited three hours and it only got to 79 degrees. I proceeded to talk to the front desk clerk who came up to check out the thermostat. He suggested changing the On/Auto setting from Auto to On and that this would bypass the "sensor" that detects when you leave the room and it would just stay "on". This sounded somewhat believable so I guess I trusted what I was hearing. The room continued to trickle down to about 76 before falling asleep. I had set the thermostat to the lowest setting (65). At approximately 4:00am, I was awoke in a pool of sweat and discovered that the room temperature had climbed back up to 82 degrees. I proceeded to tell the front desk clerk and he advised that he was going to put in a maintenance ticket and he also advised he was going to reward me 5,000 member points through my IHG membership! They also offered to switch my room, however, I thought it would be more of a hassle for me to do that versus just waiting for maintenance to fix the A/C. Upon leaving for work that day just a few hours later, I proceeded to speak to a different front desk clerk. She advised me that the hotel was "sold out" for this particular day and she assured me that when I returned that day that my room would be nice and cool. Not sure about the cold water shower, but she said that would be looked at / fixed as well. Upon returning to the room around 5:30pm that day, I discovered that the room temperature was 82 degrees! The A/C was on but wasn't cooling the room down. I proceeded back down to the front desk clerk and advised her that I was certainly NOT happy. She immediately proceeded to contact her supervisor via telephone to try and get someone that hadn't checked in yet "walked" to another hotel property since they were sold out. I advised her that I would be the one to gladly go to another hotel property and that there was no way I was going to spend another night in this hotel. She was extremely apologetic and advised me that some of the A/C units are really old and that they are gradually replacing them. This was an interesting piece of information. I wonder if the room rates are different for rooms that have a working A/C! The front desk clerk also advised me that there was no charge for the first night and they were also going to pay for the first night in the new hotel. I certainly appreciate the attempt to make this right, but I would hope the hotel would actually make the concerted effort to improve the inefficiencies and outdated equipment in order to satisfy the overall guest experience. I would expect this sort of experience from a $30-$60/night hotel, NOT from this hotel brand!

    Not only would I not stay here again, I would strongly advise others to go elsewhere. Take it from someone that had a miserable night.
