    Much better than expected

    I've stayed here several times previously and was never really impressed with this property, but it was apparent that something has changed.
    From the check-in, the young lady at the front desk was genuinely engaged and friendly.
    The renovations in the rooms were immediately noticed with a great desk area, comfortable seating, and a great recliner! The bed and linens were nice, and the plush towels and wash cloths were very nice.
    As a road warrior and Spire member, it's evident that someone has spent a lot of time and energy re-doing this property. I was also very pleased with how nice and quiet the surrounding area was, could not hear any road sounds at all.
    This used to be one of my least favorite Knoxville locations, but now it be much higher, if my next visit is as good as this one!

    Great place to stay--close to I-40, restaurants, and shopping. Very friendly staff--always willing to help in anyway needed. Quiet, safe environment. Outside was decorated beautifully for Fall. Bed was very comfortable--slept great. Loved the convenience of free washer/dryer. Kitchen was well equipped.

    From the minute we arrived the staff at Candlewood made us a top priority. My observations were that they made everyone staying there a top priority. Dawn, April, Jonathan, John, Sandra, and all the rest are the Best staff anywhere!! The old saying it's the people working there that make or break the place is so true and you guys make Candlewood!! Keep it up!!

    Rooms Not Cleaned, Hair On Bed

    My wife and I traveled to Knoxville for a Tennessee game. We arrived to the hotel after hours, and found that there was no one in the lobby to check us in. There were lock boxes on a table, with the names of a few guests. You were to type in a code to unlock your box and get your key. Our name was not on any of these boxes. We called prior to let them know that we would be arriving late, and was assured that everything was taken care of. We nearly did not get a room, and we're 6 hours from home.

    When we arrived to our room, it smelled like dog. We have stayed at pet friendly hotels many times in the past. If they are cleaned properly, there is no dog smell in the room.

    We found that the comforter was covered in dog hair, and had not even been removed from the bed, much less cleaned.

    I always stay with IHG on business travel, as well as personal travel, however, I am highly disappointed and will not be returning to this hotel.

    Had it not been 2:30 AM, we would have stayed elsewhere.

    We were between homes and our local apartment had flooded. We thought about all hotels in the area and landed at Candlewood. I am glad we did. The accommodations are comfortable, convenient to restaurants and shopping, and the staff here is second to none.
