Situated on the south side of the River City, the Candlewood Suites® Richmond - South hotel provides a convenient location just 6 miles from downtown and right off I-95. We are an all-suite property, offering studios and one bedroom suites. Each suite is equipped with a full kitchen that includes full size refrigerator, dishwasher, two burner stovetop, microwave and dishes. Also enjoy a plush recliner when you settle in for the night.
Leisure travelers will want to visit Belle Isle at the James River and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. There is plenty of shopping to keep you busy at Chesterfield Towne Center, Short Pump and Stony Pointe. Hang out with the family outside at our gazebo and two gas grills.

Room set up very nice and amenities over average. Room not clean as it should have been especially with this era. Guest in room above us partied until 3 a.m. Desk offered no relief. Have stayed at many brands of IHG but will never stay at this hotel nor will I advise any of the Apostolic Church of America to stay there. Day-staff was pleasant but night staff indifferent. Was scheduled to stay for 2 days, cancelled 2nd day and moved next door.

I don’t understand why they have it set up as you only get your room cleaned every 7 days then when you ask for towels at front desk after 3pm they don’t let you get things you need like sheets pillow cases blanket towels hand towels wash rags I didn’t no it was a certain time to get towels

Before I get to the issue of the room, I would like to state that the front desk associate (whose name I unfortunately do not have) was absolutely fantastic. As someone who went to college for Hospitality Management (specifically in hotels) and someone who previously worked in the IHG family, she did everything she was supposed to during the check in process, including not stating my room number when the lobby had other guests.
Unfortunately, the room was absolutely disgusting. There was dust all over the kitchenette, the appliances (including the tv remote) were all sticky somehow, the towels were stained, there was a spider in our bed, the sheets had stains, there’s a MASSIVE stain on the carpet ...as I previously stated, I have a lot of experience in the hotel industry, so I know the standards that we are and should be held to. But, I also understand that things happen and slip through the cracks, so I tend to give the benefit of the doubt in the situation. However, when there are THIS many issues in a room, it’s not something that just “slipped through the cracks”. It’s not paying attention and rushing through your cleaning checklist so you can get to the next room. The hallways reeked of cigarette smoke somehow, the elevator was filthy ... the hotel just doesn’t look cared for. Then, when I filed a complaint on the IHG app and was contacted by a case manager, I was told I would hear from hotel management within the next 72 hours. It was a Saturday, so I figured they meant 72 business hours and waited. I ended up having to email the case worker again after EIGHT DAYS because no one contacted me! Extremely poor customer service on the part of management. Definitely will not be staying here again

Filthy dirty and stunk. People fighting in hotel and parking lot. I should have taken a picture of the elevator it was gross. The carpets were filthy and torn. I cannot believe that Holiday Inn allows this property to have their franchise.
