Staff did not have masks on during entire stay. Signs posted indicated all customers should. Not reassuring.

Very clean

I really enjoyed my stay here! Everything was so clean and made me feel safe, considering we're going through this pandemic. The room was cozy and relaxing, which is what I needed. Thanks to all the staff, but mainly housekeeping for taking pride in making sure each room is clean and safe!

Filthy room and non-functional amenities

By

August 03, 2020

I had to travel during the pandemic, and this room was disgustingly filthy - the toilet was not cleaned, there was backsplash on the cabinet next to the toilet along with smear marks of some unknown substance, smear marks on the desk in the room, dust on the shelves and other surfaces, dirty towels (white, but apparently never bleached). A janitorial staff member also joined me in an elevator and was not wearing a mask (I was). I certainly did not feel like hotel staff took any measures to maintain a decent level of basic cleanliness, let alone extra precautions for COVID-19. As an immuno-compromised individual who HAD to travel, not for pleasure, this was horrifying and I pray I don't get sick.
On top of the filth and the disregard for the health of others, one of the two stove elements in the room did not function at all and the other was stuck on maximum heat. There's no ceiling fan in the suite and a window that only opens about an inch, making cooking a smoky, smelly mess (I can't eat out, again as an immuno-compromised person).
Beyond those two problems, WiFi didn't work at all, forcing me to plan the second leg of my emergency trip on my phone, which required me to purchase more data. Additionally, the bathroom light is connected to a switch in the kitchen, so halfway through the night I inadvertently turned it off and had to use the restroom in the dark.
The night manager was polite but had no idea how to fix the WiFi or the bathroom light, and promised she would leave a note for the day manager but did not. The day manager was also polite and took 50% off my charge. Nevertheless, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I've stayed in Candlewood Suites before but this location is far below their standard and is apparently not being audited by corporate management.
