I studied in Gent in 1991 and like to return, every year. When I don't stay with friends, this is where I like to stay. It works for me, near main motorway network but not so far from the beautiful
city centre. Hotel is immediately next to IKEA and Gent Expo buildings.
Usually, I travel with my young son (who requires the hotel's only accessible room) but this time I am travelling alone.
This visit is just an overnight stay, no time for breakfast (which is always enjoyable). I checked in early Sunday afternoon and left Monday morning. After a few days in Northern France, I arrived at HI Gent Expo and was immediately allocated an executive room.
Hotel reception is usually busy but this time, it is nice and quiet. Front of House Manager Jessie gave me a warm welcome (thank you) and asked if my son is well.
Follow road signs for Gent Expo and don't focus too much on SatNav directions as the road network loops around Expo complex - keep focussed on "Holiday Inn" signs. Sometimes, roadworks can make it confusing but pay attention to the signs and you will arrive safely.
Spent Sunday evening with friends at Ghelamco Arena, watching Gent v Westerlo - very enjoyable experience.
Gent is great place to visit, you should stay here! [Less]
