This was the last hotel in our around Italy trip, so I sprung for two rooms so the kids would leave my wife and I alone for two seconds of peace. :) The rooms were interconnected, which was nice.
They were a bit out of date and could probably use a refresh to carpet drapes, linens and paint. I guess the beds were comfortable enough (nothing bad, nothing great).
Desk staff were ok, and I was recognized upon check-in as a Priority Club member with free drink coupons so I was able to have a free night cap each night we were there on the house. The bartender, on the other hand, also worked in the restaurant, so when you went to the bar it was empty, and you'd have to wait like 15 minutes for a drink. Eventually I asked the front desk and they told me he was likely to be in the restaurant, so I went in there and asked him to come out to the bar. (not his fault they had him doing double duty...the hotel needs to just hire more restaurant staff so the bartender can bartend)
The breakfast buffet was actually really nice. A bit nicer than most Holiday Inn Express breakfasts, but certainly not the most extravagant spread I have ever seen. Good mix of fruits, veggies, breads, and hot entrees.
It was off of the main island of Venice, so you had to drive in from the hotel or take a taxi. But this also is what made it a little nicer. Hotels that are further away from attractions generally try harder to attract more customers. But, a free shuttle bus to the main Venice parking garage area would really put this over the top. [Less]
