This was our first visit to this hotel and location is fantastic. Right on the Plymouth Hoe, with views out to sea.
Found check-in a bit slow and also had no fast lane for IHG members.
served in the Marco Pierre White Restaurant on the Penthouse Floor, so you get fantastic early morning views over Plymouth Hoe and area. Found breakfast to be well organised and layed out - seemed to have a good flow around the cold areas and hot areas (most other Crowne Plazas seem to struggle with this flow).
Had an evening meal in the MPW restaurant and can highly recommend it. Not cheap - but good food and good portions, great views and good staff.
Also had a meal in the hotels restaurant on the ground floor, again though the food is a high standard. Not much space in their restaurant and looks layed out more as a lounge than a dining area. Again the staff were good.
One problem had with housekeeping is that one day they left us with no toilet rolls, a phone call down to reception and someone was at our room within 5 minutes so quickly fixed.
Stayed in early September so weather a bit cooler however it is worth noting that the room windows do NOT open, and there is no Air conditioning in the room. Looks like there is a unit in the corner but does not work (at least in the room we were in). When returned to our room at night it was a bit warm in there but once we had gone out for tea and returned it had cooled down, probably due to time of year. So beware if you visit in the main summer months.
Club lounge is also located on the Penthouse Floor and a very good size, again has good views of the city of Plymouth. Canapes were ok, but the same each night so got a bit repetitive. Couple of occasions they ran out of wine and with no host had to phone reception to re-stock. Again service was prompt but they only bought 1 bottle of white wine, so again did not last long.
Hotel has an underground car park which is very tight in places. It is worth noting that the car park has two levels so if no spaces when you first drive in the the next level should be ok.
Only one lift goes down to the car park level and it would be useful if this could be called separately from the other two lifts as inevitably it is always the lift you don't want that arrives first. [Less]
