As the title says the management need to address a few issues to make this hotel number 1 in the area.
The hotel itself is in an excellent area with lovely gardens by the river with fantastic
outside seating areas. Only a very short walk into town.
Check in was very slow due to under staffing (nobody staffing the priority club check in desk) A 3rd member of staff arrived just as the 20 minute wait came to an end. Both lifts broken down which seems to be a regular occurrence not a problem for us but could be a major issue for the many elderly at the hotel this weekend.
Room was large and clean but the bed was so hard that I had 2 nights of broken sleep, I guess the hotel are aware of the bed issue as it had a very thick mattress topper on it which unfortunately didn't work. A new bed and the room would rate as excellent.
We ate breakfast at the hotel which was reasonable priced but unfortunately the staff need some training in this area. Day 1 we were pointed to a table that only had 1 chair for the 2 of us, I asked the waitress for another chair only for her to plonk a chair down at the table without speaking. Next day we came down to a restaurant only 1/3 full, we asked for a window table of which there were plenty only to be show to a table in a dark corner. We said we weren’t happy with the table and could we have a window table to be told none of the window tables are set which would have taken all of 30 seconds to complete. Why have a lovely view and sit all the guests at the back of the restaurant with no view.
Small issues easily sorted would have given the hotel 5 stars, only the bed would prevent me staying here again. [Less]
