This hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh. It has great access to Princes Street for shopping, Rose Street for restaurants and is close to The Scottish National Art Museum, Edinburgh Castle and The Palace and Castle at Holyroodhouse. Great hotel location to enjoy Edinburgh.
Concierge helped us line up a ride from airport when we arrived from Chicago in Edinburgh. Nice to have that lined up ahead of time.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fiona45 Spa area in dire need of refurbishment
I am not long back from a 3 night stay with friends at the Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh. The public areas were gorgeous and very tastefully decorated and furnished. The bedroom and bathroom were just fine - no more and no less, but I've certainly stayed in similar value hotels with far nicer bathrooms. However, there were a few areas that were distinctly in need of attention - there was graffiti scratched onto the lift doors - not exactly easy to sort perhaps, but it doesn't look nice; the swimming pool itself seemed clean enough, but the tiles around the walls etc looked in dire need of TLC - several cracked ones, and it all looked a bit tired. However the worst part was the changing rooms - they were smelly and had lots of areas of damp, including in the wooden lockers, and it actually put me off using the pool again during my stay - really not good enough at all and far below my expectations. A friend actually had to request a different locker as hers was so bad with damp and black stains. There was also a mix up over a bar bill when checking out - we had paid in cash and then it got charged to our room too - a bit embarrassing to argue over in a busy reception area. Considering the fantastic location it is in, it would greatly benefit the hotel to upgrade their spa area - do that and I would go back. PS Staff at breakfast could be better trained too. Location was really the only positive for me I'm afraid.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by AlibalyB Comfortable room, very pleasant reception staff, poor breakfast, noisy fellow guests!
The hotel is nicer from the outside than it is on the inside. Our room was clean, fresh and very comfortable. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. It turned out that we could leave our car in the car park and access the leisure facilities after check out on Sunday. If only we'd known before hand we would have planned our trip differently! The car park is small and challenging for anyone with a large car. There was a wedding in the hotel which meant loud music till late on Saturday night. Breakfast was disappointing. Lots of choice but very poor quality cooked food possibly due to how busy they were.

Having stayed at this Hotel for many years we did wonder if the standards would be maintained since it had recently been taken over by the Crowne Plaza group. We were not disappointed in fact quite pleased - money had obviously been spent on the décor throughout the Hotel and it was all very tasteful
. My only gripe would be that the Hotel consider better quality pillows on the beds as they were quite flat and not as plump as expected to give you the feeling of luxury. Apart from that nothing else to moan about and we would certainly recommend as the ideal location to enjoy the delights of Edinburgh. We look forward to returning next year

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nettles1602 Lovely hotel for a stay in Edinburgh
Pretty much verything about our stay at The Roxburghe was spot on. Beds were comfy and our room was spotless. Breakfast was a joy - the black pudding and haggis were scrummy! All the staff were courteous and apparently happy in their work. My only gripe being that there was only one armchair in the room. Small thing which didn't spoil our overall enjoyment.

We recently stayed at the Roxburghe for a wedding reception. The stay was enhanced by the professionalism of the staff who did everything they could to make sure that our visit was a memorable one. From the room service staff, breakfast staff, restaurant and reception, it could not have been bettered.

Choosing a hotel on-line is never easy but we were delighted with our stay at the Crowne Plaza Edinburgh -The Roxburghe. I had mentioned that it was a special birthday for my husband and the room that we were given was lovely- spacious and quiet and you could open the windows always a bonus.
Breakfast was good with hot and cold food on offer and plenty of choice but I would have liked the breakfast room to be a mobile free zone as I have no wish to be party to business discussions. which are often confidential and very irritating to those within hearing.
All the staff were very efficient and pleasant and went out of there way to be helpful but special mention must go to Jamie who sorted out the WiFi connexion for me on the hotel's PC allowing me to print off our boarding cards.
If we return to Edinburgh again we shall certainly stay at the Roxburghe as its central position was ideal for sightseeing and its proximity to Edinburgh's airport and transport system made getting around easy.

I recently stayed here with a friend for a girly weekend away. We both had a brilliant time. Our room was great, well presented and had a gorgeous view over the square. The staff were consistently helpful and friendly which made us feel very welcome. The hotel was ideally located for us and the treatments we had in the spa were lovely. The only mini gripe is that the shower was pretty small which would definitely have been an issue for a taller guest!
I would highly recommend this hotel and intend to return in the future.

We recently stayed for 2 nights for our niece's wedding and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
The meal was superb and the service was very good - the staff were very pleased to help and quick to apologise when our meal the night before was taking over long to be served.
On the downside was the price of parking and the cost of drinks at the bar.

One of the nicest hotels in Edinburgh, close to many great shops, bars & restaurants. The hotel has the most comfortable beds & the breakfast is lovely, catering for most appetites, with off menu requests always managed. The George bar does a great evening meal in nice surroundings, again with a good selection on the menu & often a set menu including a drink at a very reasonable price.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ld177 Disappointing visit
We have stayed in the Roxburghe several times before and this was the most disappointing. On arrival at the car park we found there was not a space to park and also no one 2 advise.
On first morning found shower not to be working no hot water. Reported this to reception and was told it was fixed. After attending a Ball in the Roxburghe I returned after a full nights country dancing to find shower now had hot water but pressure knob above would now not turn fully. This meant shower pressure was extremely poor. Called reception and advised and they did not appear to be very sorry.
When checkin out I mentioned this to girl and this time I got a very pathetic "I'm sorry".
Both mornings when having breakfast my hot breakfast was served to me before I had finished my cereal.
I am disappointed in having to write this we have attended this Ball and enjoyed ourselves much more and had far better service all round.

What a difference a day makes... my first stay at this hotel in December was excellent, largely due to the reception and greeting received from one Gavin Stirling, the Head Concierge.
The second stay went not so smoothly: they took an age to open the car park gate, to which you must be buzzed in. (You also have to reserve a space in advance which I did). The club lounge breakfast was chaotic because "the restaurant is full, and the kitchen can't cope". Afternoon tea took an age despite several requests for attention because "everyone is busy with the wedding". The Afternoon Tea was eventually delivered and not charged.
As a ICH member I receive a bonus point voucher each stay: on both stays they had run out of vouchers and said they would post them manually. They didn't, and still haven't, on either stay.
Despite all that, the hotel is in excellent location, the staff are perfectly helpful and polite and the rooms are adequate. With the huge variation in Crowne Plaza standards I will stay again but perhaps with slightly lower expectations.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by On Holiday Good location
The location of the hotel was very central and near some good restaurants, and made it a good base for moving around the city. The hotel as a whole was quite comfortable, with our room comfortable also. The only detraction was a tight squeeze between the desk and the foot of the bed. Breakfast was very nice and the staff at that time were extremely friendly and helpful.

Had a great stay along with my wife and three grown up sons. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant even though they worked over the festive period. Great location and would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it for a weekend break or for a longer stay as a tourist.

I stayed for three nights with a friend & it was well worth it! The staff were great, knowledgeable, friendly (genuinely not false) & accommodating. Loved the extra touches of water in rooms, choc on pillow, aromatherapy oil cloth/ tissue to put on your pillow each night & Buck's Fizz on New Year's Day!
Breakfast was fab & in a lovely relaxed environment. Great lounge & foyer too.

We were touring Europe for two months and this was the best hotel of our stay. The location is perfect for airlink bus, shopping and touring new town, old town or the national gallery and SO close to excellent pubs & shops on Rose street. Don't miss the Black Cat... Staff incredibly knowledgeable and helpful at every turn.

Excellent stay for the price paid. Early check in was no problem and the Front Desk Team were friendly and eager to help. One of the team Jaimie was a star and his help and advice was much appreciated.
Our room was in the new part of the hotel beyond the glass atrium. It was clean, functional and well appointed. Our next stay here is in a few days and we shall try out the original part of the hotel on this visit.
The leisure club was good but maybe in need or a refurb at some point.
The restaurant was fully booked that night but the staff recommended several nearby eateries.
Looking forward to our next stay.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by pk61 beware of Christmas parties!
I have stayed at the Roxburge on numerous occasions and always had better than standard service however last weekend proved to be different. I appreciate Christmas party season is in full swing but it should not be at the expense of paying guests. I could not get a table for a meal or even a seat to have a drink. Room service was at least 1 hour. the weather outside was atrocious but had no other option to venture out. Not sure if I will visit again!

Lovey hotel excellent staff and lovely room but if I returned i would definitely ask for a room at the back, our room looked out on to George Street and was very noisy at night, but I guess that's what you pay for having a great central location!

What a pity .... We organised an event and there were Number of issues with the hotel, although I raised these on many occasions and was told that the General Manager was aware, no one has ever had the decency to talk to me and it and it ruined what was supposed to be a memorable evening. I have now decided that they were so bad I can't be bothered to tell them what they are so they don't have a chance to fix them, hopefully other customers will vote with your feet.

The hotel was fabulous and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
Our only problems were the room was noisy in the evening with late night drinkers outside and the patio door wasn't sealed properly so made a draught in the room. The breakfast was superb and the position of the hotel is ideal for sightseeing or shopping in Edinburgh. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by picmartin Missed chance for a memorable stay. Should not, have happened.
It's never nice to enter a hotel where there is a big party going on.
Therefore reception was not very interested. We had exchanged mails about our different reservations so,that we could stay in the same room for the 3 night stay but they didn't know. Being "platinum members" we were not recognised and no upgrade, no newspaper and had to ask for the extra voucher.
For the 3 night stay we were given a basic room and a bathroom with a washbassin for children. Small and low! The elevator didn't work for 2 days and being seniors they could have given us a room on a lower floor, or at least ask if we didn't mind. Climbing 2 big stairs was not easy!
Breakfast was good but took so long that we didn't return.
When the next morning I told the reception that we where somewhat disappointed nothing was done to make our stay a success!

I have just enjoyed a 3 night Winter Spa Package. I have been coming to The Roxburghe in November for the past 5 years and I have found the standard excellent. The staff are very pleasant and very helpful which makes you feel relaxed which leads to a very enjoyable stay.. Well done to all and see you soon.
