Every year the Amsterdam Light Festival puts the center of Amsterdam and the canals in the spotlight.
From December 1, 2016 to January 22, 2017 more than 35 works of art and installations by international artists, designers and architects, illuminate the city of Amsterdam. The works are placed along a route, the Watercolors and a walking pad, the Illuminade.
Head into the centre of Amsterdam to stroll down 17th-century waterways, explore quirky boutiques and enjoy Dutch beers by the canals in so-called bruine cafes. Direct trains reach the city centre from Hoofddorp rail station, 8 minutes' walk away.

Discover masterpieces on canvas from the Dutch Golden Age in leafy Den Haag, 30 minutes' drive away. Rembrandt, Vermeer and Frans Hals display at the Mauritshuis Museum while the more contemporary M.C. Escher combines maths and art at the Escher Museum.
