The Atelier des Lumières is one of the incredible artistic attractions of the City of Lights. Housed in a former smelter, a 20-minute walk from the hotel, it exhibits impressive 3D digital projections of masterpieces by artists such as Monet, Renoir and Chagall. Let yourself be seduced by these immersive multimedia exhibitions accompanied by moving soundtracks.

Paris is a very walkable city, but if you have lots of meetings, the transport network includes the metro, trams, buses and RER commuter trains. Of these, the metro is the most convenient, and République metro station is right outside our hotel. Save money by buying a ‘carnet’ of 10 tickets, available at all metro stations and some news stands. Ticket machines accept both debit cards and coins.

A 30-minute walk from the hotel, Père Lachaise Cemetery is the most famous burial ground in Paris, with renowned authors, actors and musicians buried on its tree-lined avenues. Meander among the splendid marble tombs to discover the resting places of composer Frédéric Chopin and satirist Oscar Wilde. You’ll soon spot the grave of Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, as it’s covered in graffiti.

Paris is the city of lovers, and right on our doorstep we have romantic Canal Saint-Martin, a 19th-century waterway lined with bohemian bars and pavement cafés. Take a leisurely barge cruise or stroll north along its tree-shaded west bank past ornate iron footbridges and locks. You’ll come across street art and a Chinese Quarter in Belleville, plus the futuristic MK2 cinema at La Villette Basin.
