Return visit to Wrightsville Beach Holiday Inn Resort.
This was our 4th visit to this location. We found everything to be as nice as previous visits. The entire complex was inviting. The staff was fabulous from the front desk to all the maintenance and
housekeeping folks. The Ocean restaurant was great: staff, cleanliness, social distancing arrangements. Food was excellent. We dad several dinners and several breakfasts. The pool and pool areas were nicely maintained.
The only negatives were: The guest rooms were not carpeted. The floors were Pergo or some other laminate. This may have been due to ease of keeling them sanitized due to COVID. Carpetting makes for a more cozy feeling. However, we were informed there will be a major renovation of the facility beginning Sept. 2021. The other disappointment was the inability to use our rewards points. I had purchased extra points in hopes of using them on this trip. I was informed by the reservation department that IHG hotels only allocate so many rooms for points redemption and the room/points allocation for the week we stayed had already been reached. Thus we had to pay full rates. This is frustrating. This means we need to have the reservation department tell us when we can use the points and then accommodate out travel thusly. The rewards program lacks transparency in that it does not inform rewards members of this restriction. We also have rewards points at another major hotel and have never been told that we could not use our points (New York, New Orleans, and near the Cincinnati Airport.) IHG really needs to change their rewards / booking policy.
