The hotel is located in the heart of the downtown area of Nassau, and I would recommend to anyone wishing for a clean, safe environment for travel or business purposes.
One of the first things
you notice upon entry is that the hotel has a veery modernised look and feel to it. There are televisions adorned throughout the lobby area and provide a welcome bit of entertainment whether enjoying a meal in the adjacent eating area and everything is nicely centralised to make access to rooms, pool, and fitness area a seamless experience.
My room, located on the sixth floor, had an amazing view of the waterfront, and you can simply hop across the street to gain access to a variety of vendors and food stalls. While the continental breakfast was delicious, the activity from the surrounding area would definitely be enticing enough to spur even the most reclusive visitor's curiosity. One thing of particular note concerning the location is that it is situated in very close proximity to not only the downtown shopping district, but it also feels extremely safe due to being almost right next door to a police department. However, the area itself is so well-maintained, this felt more like an assurance that goes the extra mile.
The continental breakfast was very delicious, and there was an assortment of omelettes, breads, cereals, fruit etc. Everything was fresh and prepared to satisfaction.
There is a small fitness centre as well. While there weren't many machines numerically, it provided what was needed for anyone feeling guilty about a second helping of breakfast and there is also a weight rack if you feel like strengthening your arms with some dumbbell exercises. I noticed that attendants sanitized every few minutes, especially if someone used the area and that was much appreciated and put my mind at ease.
For the most part, staff did an outstanding job of ensuring that every one of their guests were taken care of and even, I dare say, pampered.
Of particular note was the front desk attendant, Patrice. Every question and concern i had was answered crisply and with the utmost professionalism.
Now of course, to be perfectly honest, there were two slight instances that I wasn't overly impressed with. For one thing, I had accidentally dropped a valuable in the garbage by mistake after enjoying breakfast. I rushed back to the eating area after discovering my mistake and needed some help to recover it.
One staff member was a little rude and made a comment to his colleagues that I thought was inappropriate, but once I voiced my displeasure, they all ignored him and came to help me find my lost item, profusely apologizing for what I'm sure is a rare and isolated event. It didn't take long to forget the incident and I'm very impressed with their response.
Secondly, my bathroom sink was a bit....selective in when it wanted to work. Everything else worked fine, but there was a slight water pressure issue. It was such a minor thing for me that I didn't even bother (or remember) to report this, mostly because everything else about my room was so on point, I actually felt like it wasn't even worth mentioning or disturbing the operation for. However, I'm quite sure that if I had said something, I would have seen the situation resolved to my satisfaction.
All in all, a very pleasant experience and I would certainly stay at Holiday Inn Express again and would definitely recommend to others. [Less]
