Like a loving home away from home...
Let me start by saying that the kind staff member who took my initial call back in May, was so friendly and kind while placing my reservation. She made me feel welcome, without even seeing the
property. November rolls around and it’s time to visit this hotel. They notified before my arrival that my tower reservation was converted to a courtyard view outside room (due to renovations). Due to the change, my rate had also been adjusted for the inconvenience. I was warmly greeted and made to feel right at home and very welcome. My questions were answered kindly and our room was very nice. Being an older room, there were scarce wall plugs and small bathrooms, but I am sure once the renovations are complete, we will be wowed. Our room was very clean and had new fixtures. The free available WiFi, was the best of any hotel I have ever stayed in. Connections with as many devices as needed and reliable. I was here with a convention, and there were tons of WiFi devices in use (so I know how robust this network must be). I never passed a staff member that didn’t smile and warmly greet me. They really are glad you are visiting with them, and eager to assist. The bar drinks were great (happy hour margaritas were a hit). Our food (furnished by the hotel, in the group we were with, for breakfast and supper), was nothing short of phenomenal. No burgers and chicken fingers because they had to feed a group. We dined on gumbo and rice, new potatoes, green beans with almonds, catfish fillets, lasagna, garlic toast, seasoned whole kernel corn, fresh vegetable medley, strawberry shortcake, peach cobbler, bread pudding, black eyed peas with pork, dirty rice, glazed carrots, cabbage, corn muffins, yeast rolls, and every night we had fresh salad. I ate better on this trip, just from the hotel, than I have at most destinations finest resturants, I have traveled to, before. My hat is off to the chefs and cooks, as well as the wait staff (that were the kindest I have ever encountered). Breakfast was a well stocked buffet of scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits, bacon, sausage patties, potatoes, oatmeal, waffles, pancakes, fruit, sausage gravy, toast, and on request omelette of various types. Again, the wait staff in the breakfast area are very kind and make sure you want for nothing. I would highly recommend seeing Baton Rouge in the company of the Holiday Inn Baton Rouge South. It is located within easy driving to New Orleans and Plantation Alley. I will definitely be visiting my Lousianna friends again.
With kind thanks to all the hotel staff for your welcoming and friendly words and actions. Until we meet again. With sincere thanks, [Less]
